Chapter 799
"In my book, she must have found out her husband was secretly holding onto memories of someone else—his 'white moonlight'—and that just threw her into a tailspin," Sarah speculated.
Scottie shook his head. "If Gavin had anything to do with her death, the McCoy family wouldn't have just let it slide. But now, with the McCoy and Rowland families getting along so well, it seems like Kelly's death may not be tied to Gavin after all."
Sarah's eyes lit up with a sudden thought. "Every time Paige mentions Kelly, she's fuming. She calls her a shameless hussy who brought Gavin nothing but misery. I've always had a hunch that Kelly might've done something to betray Gavin."
Scottie had a lightbulb moment. "If that's the case, could Gavin be taking his anger over Kelly out on Morris?"
Sarah's eyes widened like she'd stumbled onto a secret treasure. "If Gavin really cherished Morris, how did Morris end up in the hands of traffickers as a kid? And why does he carry those scars? Kids from wealthy families are usually guarded closely. Now that you mention it, Gavin does seem a bit cold towards him."
Sarah's heart ached. "No matter what, the kid's innocent. Taking out their grudge against Kelly on Morris is just cruel."
Scottie's face grew serious. "But it's the Rowland and McCoy families who've neglected Morris. Why would Morris want to bring down all four families?"
He shook his head, utterly perplexed. "Morris is like a closed book, deep and cunning."
Sarah's expression dimmed. She gave Scottie a serious reminder, "Honey, you're known for your strong sense of justice. As you step in to help the Rowland family, make sure to keep your eyes peeled. You wouldn't want to end up helping someone who's just pretending to be innocent."
Scottie nodded. "Don't worry, I need to dig deeper into this."
With Morris's trial looming, and Scottie still dragging his feet, Nathalie was getting restless.
One day, she decided to take matters into her own hands and arranged to meet with Sarah, who agreed without hesitation.
At a spa.
Sarah had just stepped out of the elevator when a hand swiftly pulled her into the stairwell. Regaining her balance, she saw Nathalie motioning silence.
Nathalie whispered, "Sarah, I brought you here to catch a little drama. Keep quiet, okay?"
She then led Sarah quietly into a
private room at the spa, divided into two snug spaces for exclusive
beauty treatments for the
high-society ladies.
Sarah was puzzled. Was Nathalie inviting her for a beauty session? But what was with all the secrecy?
Nathalie motioned for her to lie
down in the outer area, and a gentle
attendant immediately startet
attending to Sarah.
Meanwhile, Nathalie slipped into an attendant's uniform, complete with a mask and hat, and moved into the inner room.
"Paige, sorry to keep you waiting."
Sarah heard Nathalie speaking in a deliberately gruff voice from inside and suddenly got the picture.
The client inside was Paige. What was Nathalie up to? Sarah decided to stay putnoveldrama
and watch the scene unfold.
Paige was known for her haughty attitude towards the staff.
"You're late, so get on with it!"
Nathalie eyed her concoction, which was just plaster in disguise.
She spread it over Paige's face and body, and it quickly set.
Nathalie abruptly switched back to her normal voice. "Paige, how's that working
for you?"
What do you think?
