Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 140

Mikayla knocked on the door politely. "Is Libby there?"

The crying inside stopped. After a while, the door opened from inside. Libby's voice cracked after sobbing. "Who is it?" She looked up and saw Mikayla.

When Mikayla saw that face clearly, she understood where those women's comments came from. It turned out that the owner of this room was the woman who bumped into her when she served tea yesterday.

Libby was only in her early 20s. However, she looked jaded and beyond her age. She had already changed from the Ludwig family's housekeeper uniform into a plain red cotton coat because of the resignation.

"Are you Libby Newman?" Mikayla probed.

Libby lowered her head and wiped her tears. "Yes, I am."

"Can I come inside?" Mikayla stood at the door and asked, but she went straight inside.

Libby was timid. Seeing Mikayla come in, she asked weakly, "Mrs. Ludwig, are you looking for me?"

"Close the door and pour me a glass of water," Mikayla answered while observing the room. There were two doors in the narrow room. One was the door she had just entered, directly opposite the corridor of the mansion; and the other door was connected to the lawn outside through the window. However, this door was blocked by Libby's bed. Mikayla noticed traces of movement under the bed, which had not been moved for a long time.

Everything fell into place at that moment.

Libby found a clean cup in the room and obediently poured Mikayla a glass of water.

Mikayla accepted the glass from Libby, but she didn't drink it. Instead, she saw two suitcases at the end of the bed, which were already full. "They said you've resigned? Don't be scared. I don't care about what happened yesterday." Seeing Libby standing silently with her head down, Mikayla smiled faintly. "The Ludwig mansion is a good place for housekeepers like you. Are you crying in your room because you're reluctant to leave? Well, you don't have to quit your job because of this. There are many places outside where housekeepers are either beaten or scolded. I've seen too much. Where else can you find a place as comfortable as the Ludwig mansion?"

Those words seemed to strike a chord with Libby. The tears that she held back with much difficulty fell again. "I don't want to leave either. Mr. Ludwig, Mrs. Selena Ludwig, and their daughter treat me like family."

Mikayla put the glass aside, stood up, and walked over. "Yes! The Ludwig mansion is a good place for housekeepers like you. No one will beat or blame you for doing something wrong, so you don't have to leave. How about this? I'll talk to them so that you can stay."

"Mrs. Ludwig..." Libby said anxiously.

"What's wrong? Did someone force you to leave? Or did they tell you that I would punish you for what happened yesterday? They asked you to resign voluntarily and gave you enough money to support you and your younger brother for the rest of your lives. However, they wanted you to steal the painting Ms. Ludwig gave me while the house was in chaos last night. Then, you had to leave through this door, tear up the scroll, and throw it into the pool, right?" Mikayla told the truth of her guess without pausing, leaving no room for Libby to refute. Although she didn't refute what she had heard from the housekeepers today, it didn't mean that she wasn't paying attention to it.

Libby looked at Mikayla in astonishment and mused, 'She knows everything!'

"You don't need to know how I found out. I'm not a fool! I might be a little bit smarter than you guys imagine." Mikayla looked at Libby. The latter was a timid person. She shuddered after being stared at by Mikayla like this.

"What? Should I tell you more in detail?" Mikayla smiled. She saw Libby's every reaction. The housekeeper's reactions also confirmed that her guesses were spot on.

"No! It was me. I did it alone! It was all my idea, and it has nothing to do with Ms. Ludwig. She's so kind. She would never do something like this..." Libby said incoherently.

"I'm not interested in who you're trying to protect. You better stay here today. I have someone summon you later. I'll tell them the truth, regardless if you confess to these things. I, Mikayla Salvatore, refuse to take the blame!" Then, Mikayla left without hesitation.

The next second, Libby collapsed on the ground. She looked at the bank's Gold Card under the pillow.

Tonight's dinner was the quietest meal Mikayla ever had in the Ludwig mansion.

Selena lost her enthusiasm. Natasha also didn't have her usual sweet smile. Meanwhile, Garrett only spoke a few words to Carlos. It was silent during the dinner.

After dinner, Natasha didn't persuade Carlos to stay. With Myla's help, she took the medicine prescribed by the hospital half an hour after dinner. Myla also prepared to wheel Natasha into her room.

Just then, Mikayla stood up from the couch and said, "Garrett, Selena, I want to clarify what happened this morning."

"Mikayla! What happened this morning... We don't want to pursue the matter. Will you stop talking about it?" Selena nervously glanced at Natasha, who had yet to leave, fearing she would get irritated again.

"Selena, I will always be the culprit if

I don't tell you guys. I want to clear my name." Mikayla didn't give up the chance to prove her innocence because of Selena. 'This is me.

People can accuse me of being

heartless or not caring about Natasha's well-being. I can't stand being slandered and still not stand up for myself. Moreover, I can't tolerate being misunderstood by Carlos' family,' she contemplated.

At that moment, Carlos looked at Mikayla intensely while grinning. He looked at his woman as though she was shining.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

Natasha told Myla to stop pushing her wheelchair and watched Mikayla standing in the center of the living room. The wicked smile on her face vanished instantly. "Mikayla, it was all my fault for being too impulsive! I believe you. You definitely didn't do it."

Hearing Natasha's voice, Selena looked back at Mikayla with teary eyes. "Mikayla, stop bringing that up, okay? Please, I beg you! Natasha just got discharged from the hospital."

"Selena, this matter concerns Natasha. If the misunderstanding isn't resolved, then Natasha, Carlos, and I will all have a grudge." Mikayla was unmoved.

Just then, Garrett spoke up. "Let Mikayla talk!"

Selena didn't dare to stop Garrett. However, her previous good impression of Mikayla had disappeared completely.

Mikayla couldn't care less about

others and asked a housekeeper to

summon Libby. At this time, she saw the hint of horror flash across Natasha's eyes. 'The show has just begur Natasha, if you want to play dirty, you'll have to get rid of the proof. Otherwise, don't blame others for fighting back!' she mused.
