He slowly released her body. "Avy, remember today's punishment."
"Jacob, I beg you to come after me and spare the Lewis family."
"Jacob, let go of me. Don't leave me alone, I'm scared!"
"Jacob, turn it off. It's so cold. I can't get sick..."
But Jacob gave her a cold shoulder and closed the door.
"Don't leave me behind."
"I was wrong. You can torture me however you want, but don't leave me here alone."
"Jacob, it's so cold. Listen to me and let me out." NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
"Don't turn off the lights. I'm so scared."
That almost pleading voice momentarily softened his heart, but the emotion quickly vanished.
He leisurely changed into a new set of clothes and gracefully walked downstairs.
Layla searched around the hall, only feeling relieved when she didn't see Avery beside him.
"Jacob, where did you go? I've been looking for you."
"I went to the restroom, why?" Jacob's expression was indifferent, revealing no emotions.
Layla reached out to pull him, but he tactfully avoided her. "I have an appointment tonight. The driver
will take you home."
"Okay, drink less and come back early." Layla concealed her dissatisfaction and responded obediently.
On that day outside City Hall, he hadn't agreed to get married. For the sake of that marriage certificate,
she had to continue pretending to be an understanding and caring partner.
"Mmm."
Jacob left with large strides, and Layla immediately put away her smile. In such a short time, he had
already changed his clothes.
Was it because of the upcoming social engagement, or was it because of Avery?
"Out of the way!" Isabella stomped her high heels and rushed over, bumping Layla to the side.
"Isabella!"
Without stopping, Isabella said, "Oops, I didn't see you."
Layla was annoyed by her insinuation.
Layla wanted to argue, but a classmate came out and pulled her back.
Isabella anxiously called Avery after leaving the hotel. She originally wanted to discreetly gather some
gossip, but Avery's phone went unanswered.
Thinking about Jacob, who left with them, Isabella felt a sense of unease.
She dialed Avery's number again, and after a few rings, there was still no answer. Annoyed, she
cursed, "Da*n Jacob, what is he up to?"
"Are you looking for me?" A cold voice came into her ears.
Isabella was startled and turned to look at him. Under the tree, Jacob had a cigarette in his mouth, and
the flame from the lighter danced on his stern face.
He was handsome, but he looked like a demon to Isabella.
He exhaled a puff of smoke and spoke slowly, "I've been waiting for you, Isabella."
