Chapter 26
“I will tell you everything that I can,” Elise starts. “Yes, I do have powers, but I am still confused about my abilities, and I cannot trust anyone so easily… I’m terrified even by the thought of them seeing me like a freak, just like my father and Kyren.”
-shh.” Vienna cut her off. “You can explain to me at your own pace; I promise you that you are safe. And I will not judge you, she assures. The strong will in her encouraging gaze made Elise’s heartbeat calmer.
She nods in understanding before following the healer into a warmer space, where the dark wood floors match the large brown stone fireplace.
Vienna then leads her to an L–shaped sofa with two comfy armchairs beside it. She takes a seat on the soft couch while Vienna rushes to the stove by the kitchen, to place a warm cup chamomile tea, with its calm scent that wafts aruond the room, which she positions on the table to warm Elise up.
She urges Elise to take a sip that calms her nerves before she mutters, “Where do I start?” she says with a sigh before she begins..
Elise tells Vienna about her pack, what her father beta Dexton did to her the moment her wolf refused to turn and submit, and how her body didn’t feel like her own at the time, especially after that shite streak of hair that appeared. It all felt so strange.
“The moment I couldn’t change None of my pack members saw me as their own anymore; they all saw me as a monster. My father killed my mother right in front of me, and the echoes of her scream still keep me up at night.” I tried to continue, even as chills ran up her spine while talking about it. It felt like she was reliving the moment.
“Take a deep breath.” Vienna told her. That was the longest time she had spoken since Elise had begun her story. She was quiet and listened, and when Elise looked up, she saw that Vienna’s eyes were silently tearing up.
“And then I met Rygan; we were kept in the dungeons together; we formed a close bond from being locked up wrongly, and then we…
“You bonded with him, didn’t you?” she completed, and Elise looked up at her. Surprised that Vienna figured that out.
“Was it obvious that something was going on? Or was it my bite? Oh god, what if someone else has seen it?”
“No. It was Alpha Rygan; he could hardly take his eyes off you during rites practice with the young wolves; it was likeContentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
ke you were his only focus,” she says.
“I highly doubt that Vienna, especially since last night he took Alvira to his bed. Like, what was I thinking?” She scoffs bitterly, “I was selfish to wish for someone’s alpha; it doesn’t matter; during the high moon I will be rejected. So it will all end“.
“Elise-“”
“I am a rejected wolf that was given shelter when I had no place to go because I’m cursed, and now have powers that I have no control over. I should be grateful your pack is willing to help even if they don’t know they are harboring a silver night wolf or what I am, and if they find out I have feelings for their beloved alpha, it would be like I’m stealing him from his betrothed.”
“You are not cursed, Elise. And you are not doing anything wrong.” Vienna says, patting her back and reassuring her as they speak. “Yes, Alvira is a hard character to get past; she might try something, so you have to be careful, and your secret is safe with me, and it is not a crime to love a man even though he is one of the most powerful men in the pack,” Vienna assures.
Elise saw Vienna’s cheeks turn a rose shade of pink as she bit her lips. “It’s not wrong to have feelings; it is not a crime to fall in love even though he is a man of higher power and is also the second in command and a playboy wim will never give the time of his day to a mere healer,” she adds with a bitter laugh. It takes a second for Elise to immediately understand who she was hinting about.
“Do you have feelings for Beta Tazmin?” She asked calmly, and Vienna nodded in reply.
“I knew he might never notice me, but not once did I see my feelings as wrong or forbidden; we all have that side to us where we can’t help it, so don’t put yourself down when you are worth more, Vienna assures.
“Do not worry; our secrets are safe to question each other,” she affirms with a squeeze of Vienna’s hand.
As they chatted and heard the sound of another door creaking open as they heard a yawn, they both turned to see Bellamy.
Leaving Elise confused as she turned to Vienna. “Um, I couldn’t let her go home immediately, especially since the wound healed so fast; they were witnesses, and people will be too quick to suspect.”
“Oh gods, Elise!” Bellamy exclaimed, cutting Vienna off as she ran to Elise and gave her a warm hug. “Thank you, thank you so much for helping me. Without you, I wouldn’t be able to participate in the rites that are coming up soon. I’m glad I can join the other wolves.” She called
Elise was stunned beyond measure; she never expected this. She thought Bellamy would be more scared than happy to see her, and she couldn’t help but feel warm and happy that Bellamy was thankful for her powers that healed her.
“I did nothing really, but Bellamy.”
“I won’t tell anyone, I promise; you helped so much, and I won’t betray you for that,” she assured, calming Elise’s doubts. She then felt a warm hand on her back; it was Vienna who was smiling up to her. “Oh, it’s already past my call time, and I’m sure the others will be waiting. I have to go train,” Bellamy called before running out of the house.
“You made her so happy, Elise, and for that, I am so grateful. You don’t know how much it means to her, but your kindness shows that you are deserving of love and feeling, you are not cursed.”
“Thank you, Vienna, truly,” she says, matching Vienna with an identical smile. She knew that she was supposed to find her worth, and all the more she was going to find out the true nature of her powers, and how was she able to heal Bellamy and telepathically talk to Rygan when it was supposed to be impossible for one wolf to do all that?
She did leave that tiny bit out about her telepathic powers when she was speaking to Vienna because she wasn’t still so sure it happened, especially in the blur of that moment, but she was going to find out her origins.
She recalled the harsh words of her father rejecting her as his daughter. She must have a different father and family somewhere, and she has to find them and uncover her true origin and who she is.
Is she truly just an omega, or something more?
