Chapter 5
Chapter 5
[Alexandria’s POV]
Layla and I climbed on the tree to rest and sleep to avoid werewolves and any animals from attacking
us. But I couldn't sleep, because my heart was still aching. I let my tears flow down on my face and I
promise to myself that I will only cry tonight. I will never cry again because of Azrael.
How could he reject me? I waited for him for my entire life.
"Alex, are you crying?" Layla whispered. I wiped my tears in silence.
"It's nothing, Layla," I mumbled back, but deep inside me, it hurts like hell.
"You can tell me, Alex..." I sighed. Maybe telling it to Layla will help ease the pain I'm feeling.
"I've met my mate today," I said, and she gasped.
"Then what happened? Why are you crying? Did he hurt you?!" she said worriedly.
I hummed. "He rejected me, Layla, and it hurts like hell," I said and sobbed again.
"Come here, Alex." I heaved a sigh and slumped to the branch where she's at. Layla engulfed me with
a tight hug while stroking my back for comfort. I let my tears flow down on my face again.
"He's a jerk. Screw him! Who is he?" she said angrily.
I hesitated. If I tell her, she'll go berserk. "Please tell me, who is he?"
I sighed, "It's Alpha Azrael Shepherd..." I said and wiped off my tears. She let out a gasp.
"What? He's a jerk for rejecting you! I'll kill him when I see that jerk!" she said, while clenching her fist.
"Let's not talk about him. I'm done with him." She sighed and I could feel her nodding, then silence
enveloped us.
"We will leave at dawn," I said.
"Okay..." she agreed.
Layla still held me in her arms, and I drifted off to sleep while she was caressing my hair.
~~~
I woke up when my insides felt like burning with fire. My bones cracked up, and I screamed in pain. I
quickly jumped into the lower ground as I felt the burning sensation in my entire body.
"Alexxxx!" Layla shouted, and her voice echoed towards the forest. The bats and birds flew away while
chirping. I groaned when I landed on the ground with a loud thud.
"Layla! Stay up there! Don't come near me! Aahhhh!" I said while screaming.
I curled up into a ball, and I don't know what is happening to me. Suddenly, I am out of control of my
powers. It was showing up and now others can sense me. My vision turned bloody red. Then I felt my
fangs grow long and my body glowed brightly. And I feel like there is something inside me that wants to
come out. I growled so loud that my throat hurt.
"Aaahhhh!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, my muscles and bones cracking up painfully. Then my
veins looked like they were tearing apart and the pain I felt was so excruciating. My breathing became
irregular, and I felt like my lungs were out of oxygen as my insides were burning like fire.
What was happening to me? As I looked up, the light of the moon glowed towards me, then I screamed
one last time before I passed out.
I slowly fluttered my eyes open, but I closed my eyes again as the light almost blinded me. I blinked my NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
eyes multiple times as I adjusted my sight.
"Hey, you're awake..." I looked up and saw Layla smiling at me weakly. She looked so pale, and she
was holding me. I noticed we were hiding in the big bushes.
"Hey, what happened?" I said groggily, then sat up. My entire body felt so light, which is odd. My
hearing also became more clear.
She looked at me with fear in her eyes. "What happened, Layla?" I asked again. She looked at the
ground and contemplated whether to tell me. She sighed and looked back at me, her eyes filled with
mixed emotions; confused, fear, fascination, admiration, etc.
"You passed out for almost three days now, and in those three days, you were groaning and screaming
in pain. I can even feel your bones cracking." She said and let out a deep sigh.
"Alex, who are you? You are not just a werewolf... you are more than that," she said, not tearing her
gaze away from me.
"I told you before, I'm different from everyone else," I said.
"I know that, but have your parents told you something about you?" I shook my head no. But then a
memory of me and my parents when I was 5 years old flashed in my head.
***
"Sweety, remember this... Once you turn eighteen, your real power will come out. By then, you will be
the most fearful creature living on this planet. You can't control it anymore, for it was too powerful.
Promise me you will control your power. There were many werewolves, vampires, witches, demons,
and beasts who would be after you and try to kill you. Don't let them near you, okay? And avoid silver,
sweety... That's the only weakness you have."
"Mom, am I not normal?" I asked while frowning. Mommy smiled, then caressed my hair with
admiration.
"You are normal, but you are extraordinary or different from everyone else. You are special, Alexandria.
Remember that and no one can defeat you."
"Even those silver?"
"They can hurt you but always remember that it can't kill you quickly."
"What if someone stabbed me with silver?"
Mom frowned. "If someone stabbed you using silver straight into your heart, you won't make it alive. As
long as you can, avoid silver, okay? Will you promise?" I nodded and hugged her. Daddy sat beside us
and patted my head.
"One day, you'll figure out why you differ from everyone else. Once you're ready, go to Tibbertan
Mountain and you'll meet other beings there to answer all your questions. On your journey, you will
encounter a lot of creatures that will try to kill you. And don't trust anyone, okay?" daddy said, and I
nodded again in understanding.
"Are you also different like me?" I asked, but they shook their heads no.
"Alexandria, always remember that you are a gift to us. A very beautiful gift." Mommy said and kissed
my forehead.
I blink my eyes multiple times as tears escape from the corner of my eyes. I miss them so much.
"My parents said that I'm different from everyone else. But I don't know what they meant," I wiped my
tears and continued, "They mentioned Tibbertan Mountain and I must go there to look for an answer."
Layla gasped.
“But I heard Tibbertan Mountain is so dangerous. There were rumors spread about that mountain.
Whoever goes there didn’t make it back alive.”
“I know, but I will try to go there.”
She sighed and nodded. Then she stared at me longer. “Alex, you’re glowing…” she said, with her
mouth agape in awe. She’s right, I was glowing. My complexion became more white, like snow. I closed
my eyes and tried to control my powers inside me. But something caught my ears, and I heard a lot of
footsteps.
“Layla, get on my back!” Layla sensed my anxiousness and quickly got on my back. I grip her legs
tightly and run faster into the depths of the woods. I didn’t shift into my full wolf's form because I felt
stronger even if I didn’t shift. My hearing was also very clear. There are a lot of footsteps running after
us from a distance. Luckily, they can’t keep up with my pace as I’m way faster than them. But I stopped
dead in my tracks as I noticed the werewolves surrounding us coming from a distinct group of packs.
“What’s going on?” Layla asked while trembling in fear on my back. I didn’t respond. Instead, I closed
my eyes and tried to hide my powerful aura.
"Layla, don't worry. I will protect you as long as I can. Don't panic." I whispered, and she just tightened
her grip on my neck. I put her down, and she quickly wrapped her arms around my waist and snuggled
closer to me. She's still trembling in fear.
Werewolves came to a halt in front of us, eyeing us dangerously. "Rogues!" they mumbled.
A werewolf approached us while studying my appearance. I looked at all of them and then another
three groups of packs came to a halt. Now, four groups of packs surrounded us, each of them looked at
us with lust. Layla's grip tightened more while she shivered with fear.
"Vampire!" a black werewolf uttered while looking at me, then all the werewolves growled. Damn.
Do they call me a vampire? What the eff?!
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Excuse me? Did you call me a vampire?" I asked, dumbfounded.
