Chapter 268
Chapter 268
Jessica looked at Lucas. For the first time, Jessica didn't feel offended by Lucas' indifferent attitude. All of a sudden, she seemed to have understood what his attitude was about.
She understood that his attitude was just a disguise.
In the past, Jessica thought it was his arrogance. After all, he seemed to have owned the whole world back then.
"I didn't expect that," Jessica said calmly. "I never wanted anyone to replace you. It's just I hate it when others are plotting against my family. I believe you feel the same."
"Then what is this conversation about?" Lucas felt bitter. Even his voice became hoarse.
"I don't think you need me to teach you what to do. You are not a person who will willingly accept failure." Jessica paused for a moment before she spoke. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
"But I have to accept it when it comes to you," Lucas said peacefully. The arrogant man finally admitted his failure in love.
Jessica didn't feel the pleasure of revenge at all. She looked at Lucas with a complicated expression.
"It's too late. Go back and rest early," Jessica said as she took a deep look at Lucas and turned to leave.
Lucas watched Jessica leave and forgot to close the window. He just realized how much he missed the woman.
The next day, when Lucas woke up in the morning, he felt exceptionally good. He had a sound sleep last night. First time in a while.
He didn't have a stomachache, either.
When he arrived at the Thomas Group, he unexpectedly saw Derek in the office. Lucas raised his eyebrows and sat down in front of his desk.
"So early? It's not your style."
"Isn't the Hall Group developing the northland of LA? There's a project now. The Hall Group reached me and hoped that I would participate with you," Derek fiddled with the Patek Philippe on his wrist and said to Lucas with a faint smile.
"Participate in the project in the northland of LA?" Lucas felt surprised and could not help but repeat.
"What? Surprised?" There was a faint smile on Derek's face. He said, "Miss Hall and you are quite alike, helping each other but not willing to reveal your names."
"What did you say?" Lucas thought that he must have misheard and asked again.
"It's such a big project now. Do you think there's a second person in the Hall Group, who dares to have that request, except for Miss Hall herself?" Derek shook his head.
Lucas knew that, too. It was just he couldn't believe that Jessica would help him ever since the farce at the wedding.
Before, he was very confident in Jessica's feelings for himself, but now he wasn't.
Perhaps Jessica was sympathizing with him because Justin died?
Lucas did not want to drill down, because he was afraid to see the answer.
Lucas initially did not want to accept Jessica's offer, but his current situation was indeed not optimistic.
Things would be easier for him if he could handle the project.
However, to Lucas' surprise, this was just the beginning.
In the next few days, Hari also came to him and invited him to participate in the development of some new real estate projects together.
These projects were more or less related to the Hall Group.
All of a sudden, the outstanding image that Oscar had created after reaching an agreement with the Davison Group was once again overshadowed by what Lucas had achieved.
This made Oscar, who was not very patient in the first place, furious.
He drove directly to Terry's company regardless of what Terry was doing at that moment. As soon as he entered the door, he immediately sat down on the guest sofa.
"Damned Lucas. I don't know what kind of luck he got. New projects come one after another." Oscar rubbed his hair in frustration. He looked at Terry and said, "Can you contact Miss Hall?"
"What do you want her for?" Terry suddenly narrowed his eyes and looked at Oscar with vigilance.
"The Hall Group has so many projects in the north of Los Angeles. I also want to participate. Can you introduce me to her? Doesn't she hate Lucas to death? Maybe Jessica is willing to cooperate with me," Oscar said.
"I can give you another project, but don't think about Jessica." Terry rejected directly after hearing that. He did not want Oscar to appear in front of Jessica too early.
"Alright, I'm still in the middle of business. Remember to make an appointment next time."
With that, Terry asked Oscar to leave.
