Revenge 191
Gordon arrived at Mayra’s school and found her classroom. He rushed over as
soon as he received her call.
At this moment, the classroom was almost empty, with only Stella and Mayra remaining. When Stella saw Gordon, she couldn’t help but wonder if he was Mayra’s boyfriend.
She had imagined Mayra’s boyfriend to be more like the clean–cut, school hunk type–not someone like Gordon, who had a rugged look and a stern expression. He didn’t match Mayra at all.
“I’ll leave now, Mayra,” Stella said.
“Okay, thanks.”
Now, the classroom was empty, with only the two of them left.
Squatting in front of her, Gordon wiped the sweat from her forehead. “Do you feel sick?” His eyes were filled with concern.
Mayra started to cry. “Gordon, it hurts. Everything hurts.”
Gordon felt her pulse but didn’t notice anything unusual. Then, he saw the bruises on her legs beneath her school skirt.
He frowned deeply. “Did you fall down the stairs last night?”
Mayra nodded. “I felt fine this morning, but now… it hurts so much.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital.” Frowning, he lifted Mayra in his arms. He was worried she might have internal injuries.
Outside the school, a Maybach, one of only three in the city, was parked. Anyone familiar with cr would recognize that it belonged to the Barlow family.
Anderson was in the car, tapping his finger impatiently on his knee. “Is she out yet?”
Shane shook his head. “No, maybe Ms. Sadler is in detention.”
After he said that, he rolled down the window as he saw someone coming out
of the school.
Stella heard someone calling her and walked over in confusion. “A–Are you calling me? Can I help you?”
Shane asked, “Do you know someone named Mayra?”
Stella nodded. “Oh, you’re looking for Mayra? She’s not feeling well and is still in the classroom. Her brother went to get her. Are you her uncle?”
Shane winced at the word “uncle” but nodded. “Thank you.”
As he wound up the window, he turned to Anderson. “Mr. Barlow, could the
brother she mentioned be…”
Mayra, carried by Gordon, exited through the back door. The back gate had a security guard who, seeing Mayra in her school uniform, let them out without a question.
When Gordon arrived earlier, Mayra noticed the mud on his shoes. She realized
he must have climbed over the wall to get in.
Gordon hailed a cab, and they headed to the hospital nearby.
Unbeknownst to them, Anderson had already reached Mayra’s classroom with Shane behind him. Seeing it empty, Shane hesitated. “Ms. Sadler must have left through the back. We were too late.”
There was a large footprint on the floor, indicating a man’s shoe.
Anderson’s eyes gleamed coldly. “Call her,” he ordered before turning to leave the classroom. He knew Mayra would never learn to obey.
At the hospital, Mayra underwent a full–body check–up in the orthopedics department. The results showed a slight fracture in her spine and multiple soft tissue injuries, though none were severe. She would recover in a few days.
However, she needed to stay in the hospital for observation. Mayra hadn’t expected her condition to be so serious.
Gordon fed her a few painkillers and stayed with her in the hospital.

Watching the sun set outside the window, Mayra felt a twinge of regret. “It’s a shame. We could’ve gone on a date.”
Gordon held her hand. “Next time. Does it still hurt?”
“Not really. It’s much better now.”
