Chapter 201 Charity Gala

For the next month, I buried myself in work, barely going home.

I even took a two-week business trip overseas just to avoid Eric. By the time I returned, I hadn't even had a chance to tell him I was back before I was pulled straight into a board meeting.

The reason was simple-Elise's debut film had taken the internet by storm, skyrocketing her follower count by the millions. Because of our foresight in signing her, Brown Group also ended up trending.

The company's official social media account gained over a million followers in just a few days. The comment section was flooded with Elise's fans.

"Brown Group, you guys have the best eye for talent! Your instincts are insane!"

"It's my girl's first endorsement deal-I'm supporting this no matter what!" "Please, I'm begging you invest in more films for Elise! We need more!" The last comment sparked an idea.

Brown Group had subsidiaries in many industries, but entertainment had never been one of them. Launching a production company might be a worthwhile expansion.

In my past life, I never paid much attention to the entertainment industry, but I did remember some major projects. This might be a chance to take Brown Group to the next level.

After thinking it through, I brought up the proposal during the board meeting. The board members exchanged glances in silence. At least this time, they didn't mock me like before.

Seeing them all remain silent, I gave a faint smile and said calmly, "I understand the economy isn't what it used to be. But diversifying our investments will give Brown Group more ways to thrive. I know every one of you has the company's best interests at heart. That's why I hope you'll at least consider what I'm saying." After speaking, I glanced around the room and waited in silence.

After a moment, Mr. Plume spoke up, "I agree."

As soon as he did, the others slowly nodded in agreement. Even Jack had no objections.

The proposal was approved.

Jack looked at Dad and cautiously said, "We need someone we trust to manage the new subsidiary, right?"

I immediately understood what he was implying and cleared my throat. "Jack, you do realize I have veto power now, don't you?"

His expression made it obvious he wanted to push Elsa into the company again.

With so many board members present, I had no intention of airing family conflicts in public. My words were a subtle warning.

Jack got the message instantly. His face stiffened, and he fell silent.

The meeting wrapped up quickly.

As soon as returned to lise net

received a message from Elise. "Jane, I've been invited as an

auctioneer at this year's charity gala. Are you coming?"

After signing her on, we exchanged contact information and would chat

occasionally. By now, we were practically friends.

Seeing her message, I glanced at the invitation my assistant had placed on my

desk and quickly typed a reply. "Of course. See you at the auction."noveldrama

The annual charity auction was a government hosted event, usually featuring a popular celebrity as the auctioneer. The attendees were mostly business leaders and

politicians, and all proceedsel.ne

charity.

Though, that wasn't what interested me.

went to

I remembered a few auction pieces that held significant collectible value. They would make excellent gifts for future business dealings if I could acquire them.

Just as I was lost in thought, a knock sounded at my office door.

I frowned. It was nearly the end of the workday, so who could it be?

"Come in."

As soon as the words left my mouth, the door swung open.

"Eric?"
