Chapter 28: What Are You Doing Here?
Chapter 28: What Are You Doing Here?
"Lauren, Alfred will be fine. You are still hurt, go back and have a rest first!" In the corridor of the hospital, Noah stayed with Lauren who had been bandaged, waiting for Alfred having an operation.
Lauren didn't seem to be listening. She stared at the situation inside through a translucent window.
One night had passed. Alfred arrived at the operating table. The doctor came out with bloody water several times. Everyone was in a hurry. She didn't dare to ask about Alfred's condition.
"Lauren, your legs are bleeding again. Could you please go back?" Noah said to Lauren in a panic when he saw Lauren's legs oozing blood after standing for a long time.
"I'll wait for Alfred," Lauren's voice was a little hoarse. Even though it was soft, it made Noah unable to give any more persuasion.
After a night of operation, the door of the room finally opened. The doctor came out from inside. Lauren quickly pulled him but didn't know how to ask. She was afraid to hear what he might say— We've tried our best. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"How is my brother?" Noah asked for Lauren.
The doctor pointed to the person who had been carried to the corridor. Lauren finally saw Alfred who was covered in bandages and had a pale complexion.
"Lauren, it looks like Alfred is fine. Shall we let him rest?"
Lauren shook her head, "I want to stay with him." Then she followed, "Noah, thank you. Just leave the
rest to me. You should go back and take a rest."
Noah opened his mouth several times but swallowed hard. This time, he really had no chance to pursue Lauren again.
Noah said to himself, "Lauren, I hope you can be happy with Alfred."
Lauren and Alfred stayed in a room. The nurse had made a bed for Lauren, but she insisted on sitting beside Alfred.
Alfred was still asleep. His mouth opened and closed slightly. As she was listening carefully, he was constantly calling Lauren's name.
Tears rolled down her face at that moment. No matter how Lauren told herself not to fall for it, she still couldn't suppress her feelings.
"Alfred, I hate you. Don't save me, stop hurting yourself, it's not worth it!" Lauren took Alfred's hand and held it.
Tears fell on Alfred's hand, his fingers trembling slightly.
"Alfred, I regret it. What's the point of getting revenge? Why should I keep doing this? I'm only deceiving myself. I never forget you! Wake up. Let's start again."
"Shame on you. You've already left. Why do you come back and pester Alfred again?" A rebuke broke the warmth of the two.
Carrie came over. She kicked the door open, ran to Alfred's bed, pulled Lauren aside, and arbitrarily blocked in the front.
Lauren watched Carrie being dramatic. Although she hadn't seen her for years, this woman still remained the same.
"I'm his wife, of course, I have to take care of him." What she said was like slapping Carrie fiercely in the face.
"You are so shameless. Alfred never likes you. Please don't be so dramatic. If I hadn't been asking Alfred not to act too hastily, he would have announced that he would end the marriage with you." Carrie held her waist, making up stories.
Lauren sneered, "Alfred is going to marry a real celebrity. A whore that he randomly hooks up with won't be taken seriously."
Carrie was shamed by Lauren. She glared at Lauren. She couldn't believe that the tough woman in front of her was really the woman who used to take all the blame.
"Don't talk so much nonsense. Leave Alfred right now. It will be bad luck to be with you. Alfred was in a car accident because of you." Carrie accused her.
Lauren stepped forward. She was half a head taller than Carrie and was really aggressive right now, which actually made Carrie feel inferior.
"You."
Carrie was about to speak but ended up being slapped in the face. "You hit me?"
"This slap is for me." After Lauren said that, she gave Carrie another slap. "This one is for my child."
Carrie's face went red. She gritted her teeth fiercely. The tooth mark was still on her arm. Now she wanted to take all these things into account.
Regardless of her image, Carrie rushed up and tangled with Lauren. Lauren had a knee injury, so she was a bit slow and got kicked by Carrie several times.
Carrie was still furious and raised the water bottle on the table, trying to smash it on Lauren.
"What are you doing?" Alfred woke up suddenly.
"Alfred, look at Lauren. I just came to see you, but she didn't let me in and called me a whore." Carrie told Alfred with red eyes, looking aggrieved.
"Is that so?" Alfred asked indifferently. Lauren was expressionless. However, Carrie hugged Alfred and refused to let go, asking him to stand up for her.
"Lauren is right," Alfred added as if he was afraid that Carrie would not hear clearly. " Lauren is right!"
Carrie couldn't believe what she just heard. Alfred actually stood by Lauren's side and scolded her.
Alfred just looked at Lauren. If he had been in the past, he would have not listened to anything else. He
would have convicted Lauren with just one word from Carrie. Now that he experienced so much, he knew that he was really wrong at the beginning.
