Chapter 581: The Baby Was Missing
After almost 10 hours, there was progress in the delivery room.
"Chloe is giving birth soon."
It was almost midnight, but no one had left.
Bailey suddenly walked out. Others thought Chloe had given birth, so they rushed up and asked, "Has
she given birth?"
"Nope. Soon."
"Why are you out?" Bailey's mother asked curiously.
"Chloe kicked me out." Bailey looked frustrated.
He repeatedly requested to stay, but Chloe disagreed.
If he didn't compromise, the delivery might be affected. Thus, Bailey had to leave the delivery room.
Sophia said, "I can understand why Chloe asked you out. It's okay. Wait with us then."
Half an hour later, a doctor came out while holding a baby. "Congratulations! It's a boy. Seven pounds.
20 inches," she announced with a smile.
Bailey was the first one standing before the doctor, his eyes glued to the baby. He felt his heart melting.
He had become a father!
"We'll put the baby in the observation room for six hours. The lying-in woman needs to be observed for Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
two hours."
Bailey followed the doctor to the observation room.
Soon he returned.
Chloe was healthy but tired after the delivery. Everyone was relieved, chatting at the delivery room
door.
Two hours later, she was pushed out of the room, and everyone stood up while watching her.
Chloe was touched while seeing them.
"You've been there for me for such a long time. Thank you all."
Her mother grabbed her hand. "Stop talking nonsense. You're the apple of our eyes. Your labor is such
a big event. How can we absent from it?"
"All right. Stop speaking. Lie down. You need to rest more," Bailey's mother chimed in.
Chloe nodded.
Men stayed, and all women followed her into the ward.
Chloe's ward was a suite, but it was crowded with so many people here.
Looking at them, Chloe said, "I've finished the delivery. You don't need to stay here. Go home, please."
Only then did Bailey realize it. "Right. Please go home. My parents and in-laws will stay with us. It's
really late now."
Therefore, those friends left one after another.
Suddenly, a nurse anxiously ran towards them in the corridor and said, "I'm sorry. I must let you know
something."
Her panicked face gave others bad hunches.
"What happened?" Bailey asked.
"Your baby is missing."
The nurse knew her words would shock them, but she was doing her job.
Before Bailey was about to ask again, Sophia pushed the nurse to a corner to avoid Chloe hearing it.
She whispered, "What exactly has happened? I don't want my friend to hear it. You'd better lower your
voice."
Her words reminded Bailey. He approached closer and said, "Right. Please tell me what happened."
Looking at them, the nurse could sense their powerful aura, so she said slowly, "When we were giving
the baby a checkup, a nurse entered the room and said she was new."
"We were too busy at that time and didn't confirm it. Also, we'd never thought someone could disguise
as a nurse and sneak in. So we let her help."
"Before we realized what happened, your baby was taken away by her."
Sophia asked, "Taken away?"
The nurse nodded. "Yes. I'm sure. Several babies were delivered tonight. She said she would take care
of your baby and asked me for a lot of relevant information. We let her handle it herself. When we
turned around, she was gone."
"A woman, right?"
Sophia got the critical information.
"Yes."
"Do you know what she looks like?"
The nurse shook her head. "As you know, we wear surgical caps and masks. We've never seen her
before, so none of us know her appearance."
Sophia didn't think they would get any helpful information if they continued to ask her questions, but the
clues were enough.
Sophia said to Bailey, "Calm down, Bailey. Can you stay with Chloe and not tell her such a matter?
We'll try our best to send the baby back to you in six hours."
Bailey trusted his friends. Yet he couldn't fully show his emotions on his face.
He said, "Sophia, Drake, I trust you. Thank you in advance."
Flynn and Drake patted his shoulder before leaving.
Others were also anxious but they couldn't stay in the hospital. Chloe had just finished the delivery. If
she got the bad news, it would negatively affect her recovery.
Then, those who couldn't help also left the hospital.
Before returning to the ward, Bailey adjusted his emotions.
Chloe stared at him. "Has anything happened?"
Bailey smiled at her. "What could have happened? They were worried I might not take good care of
you, so they gave me many reminders. This is my first time being a father. Drake told me dos and
don'ts."
Chloe didn't suspect and chuckled, "My husband will take care of me well and be an excellent father."
Bailey nodded to echo her, "I will."
On the other side, Sophia and Drake visited the hospital dean with Flynn. They requested to see the
surveillance video to find more clues about that woman.
Fortunately, they quickly found who the woman was.
The woman disguised herself to hide her actual appearance.
Sophia stared at the screen carefully as the woman seemed familiar to her.
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Sophia's assistant.
"Ms. Lawson, Jessica is missing."
Earlier, they had found where Jessica had hidden. Sophia would have caught her if it weren't for Travis'
wedding. The assistant's words had confirmed Sophia's guess--it was Jessica on the video.
"I know where she's gone."
"Ms. Lawson, what shall we do now?"
"Tell our men to follow my instructions."
Sophia had figured out Jessica's location through the surveillance video. Her assistant took the
instructions and arranged the work immediately.
