Chapter 1680
In Edgar's opinion, Joe and Skylar were always the best. With Vivian added to the family, they were even more perfect.
Though Gloria had passed away years ago, Edgar had remained steadfast in watching over Joe and Skylar, ensuring their lives only grew richer and more fulfilling.
Of course, there had been whispers over the years. When Joe and Skylar initially struggled to have children, some had speculated whether one of them had health issues.
A few ill-intentioned individuals had tried to use this as an opportunity to sow discord between them.
There had certainly been no shortage of troublemakers over the years. But fortunately, Joe and Skylar had always trusted each other, facing every challenge together. Edgar had always been deeply moved by their bond.
Now, looking at this happy family of three, he couldn't help but feel immense joy. He imagined that if Gloria were still around, she would have been so pleased to see how well they were doing.
As long as Edgar was there, he would continue to watch over them for Gloria.
"Well, whatever you say, Edgar, you're always right," Skylar said with a smile.
She knew Edgar's deep hopes for the family. To her, Joe, and Vivian, Edgar was family-an elder they respected deeply.
"Hahaha! Is Mr. Martin not coming home for dinner tonight?" Edgar asked, looking at the vegetables he was stirring in the pan.
"He just told me he's on a business trip for the next couple of days. He'll be back the day after tomorrow," Skylar replied.
"Another business trip? It seems like Mr. Martin is always busy around this time of year," Edgar said thoughtfully. Though Joe always made it home when he wasn't busy, his work schedule was often packed.
Skylar nodded. "He really is busy. But we'll be taking Vivian for a summer vacation."
"That's great. Work is always tiring, and it's important to rest and enjoy life whenever there's time," Edgar agreed.
As they chatted, Joe's video call came through. Skylar immediately answered the call.
When Joe saw her, he asked, "Are you in the kitchen?"
At that moment, Joe was in the car, and the phone shook slightly. His business wasn't far, so he had driven there. The journey took approximately five hours.
"I'm in the kitchen making dinner with Edgar, and Vivian is having her piano lesson. Have you had dinner yet?" Skylar asked.
Joe gently replied, "I stopped at a rest stop along the way and had something to eat."
"Good, take care of yourself," Skylar said. She knew Joe would take care of himself, and Lucas would also make sure he was okay.
However, Skylar was slightly
concerned because Joe had brought three temporary assistants for his business trip instead of his regular assistant, Paul. After all, Paul was much more familiar with Joe's preferences and routines.
"You take care too," Joe said, his eyes lingering on Skylar's image.
Though they had just seen each other in the morning, the thought of being apart for two or three days left him feeling a little empty. They reluctantly ended the call.
Joe could almost smell the scent of home-cooked food through the phone.
Today, he was traveling in an MPV with two male assistants in the back seat and Priscilla in the front passenger seat.noveldrama
Though they couldn't see Joe, they could hear his conversation with Skylar through the phone.
There were no declarations of love
between Joe and Skylar, but the concern in their words was evident to anyone listening. It was clear to the assistants how gentle Joe was with Skylar.
If it were another woman, she might be swept away by such tenderness, but Joe seemed oblivious to the way he treated Skylar. Priscilla, however, noticed the subtle difference.
What do you think?
