Chapter 3296 After Arrogance Comes Embarrassment
Instantly, everyone's attention shifted to Eiken. Eiken gritted his teeth and bravely admitted, "I'm the one who knocked over the table. What about it?"
As he spoke, he pointed at Colin and the others and expressed his frustration, "We came here all the way from the western route battlefield, hungry and exhausted. I asked if they could let us eat first, but they refused. Commander Cross, don't you think I had the right to be angry?" Nathan affirmed with a nod. "What a joke, mediocre abilities but such a temper."
"Those who knew know you all came back defeated, but if someone didn't know any better, they would think you all won a glorious battle! Coming here showing off as if!"
Although Nathan's words appeared to be directed at Eiken, Wolfric and the others' faces immediately turned red upon hearing them. Nathan's words hit them like a hard slap, landing squarely on the faces of these defeated soldiers, leaving them all feeling their faces burning with humiliation. Eiken was filled with awkwardness and hastily responded, "Commander Cross, you've got it wrong. We didn't come here to show off..."
Nathan inquired with indifference, "If it's not to show off, tell me what is it then?" Eiken was rendered speechless, unable to answer Nathan. Nathan remarked, "We're in the military, in the midst of war, fighting in vampire-occupied territory. As a War God of a nation, have you never learned about the difficulties of logistical supply during external operations and the importance of food for troops in combat?" Eiken's face turned grim, and struggled to find his words.
"I..." Nathan stated coldly, "From what I know, elite forces of any nation are trained to operate in hostile environments with special operations involving eating tree bark, drinking snake blood, and even enduring severe hunger to the point of consuming rotting meat." Upon mentioning that, Nathan directed his gaze toward Wolfric and stated, "I've also heard that in your military academy, if any trainee wastes food, throws it away, or vomits it out, the entire class of warriors is obligated to kneel together and lick it clean till every last bit." Wolfric reluctantly admitted, "Yes, it is true that Special Forces did implement such methods..." Nathan nodded.
"Very well then."
"Eiken, since you and the others had wasted the food, I think it's appropriate to impose a little punishment. Why don't you all pick up the food from the ground and eat it all?" Wait, what!
Wolfric exclaimed inwardly as his eyes widened in disbelief. Eiken and the others were taken aback and infuriated. Eiken's frustration boiled over as he shouted, "Nathan, what's the meaning of this? We're War Gods of our nation, and you dare to command us to eat food off the floor. This is outrageous!"
Nathan's tone was icy as he remarked, "Weren't you feeling very confident when you flipped the table? Then why now, when I ask you to pick up the food from the floor and eat it, it's suddenly unacceptable?"
"If regular forces soldiers can eat it,Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
why do you War Gods think you're above it? If you don't want to eat, then get lost!" Eiken anxiously turned to Wolfric and inquired, "Admiral Welz? Confronted by Eiken's plea, Wolfric offered a concise response, "Order is the foundation of progress, and indeed, you should not have wasted food."
"To be honest, I think it's reasonable and compliant with military rules and discipline for Commander Cross to make you all pick up the food from the ground and eat it as a form of punishment." What?
Eiken exclaimed inwardly once more. Eiken and the rest were utterly bewildered. Instead of speaking up for them, Wolfric went a step further by using the term "you all" and subtly removed himself from the situation.
Eiken was tempted to turn and walk
away at that moment. Unfortunately, he was unable to do so. Since Wolfric showed no intention of leaving, Eiken was left with no choice but to stay. As Wolfric had decided to stay on the Eastern front, Eiken couldn't leave alone; he had no option but to remain by Wolfric side.
Moreover, these War Gods, who had suffered defeat on the western front, could not afford to simply return and become a national disgrace and an object of ridicule worldwide. They had to stay on the Eastern front and achieve a victorious battle to restore their honor.
After all, when daylight emerges,
people's gaze is fixated on the sun's brilliance. Who would remember the darkness that prevailed the night before? Wolfric wanted to salvage his reputation, just like Eiken and the
others. In the end, Eiken had le
choice but to reluctantly give in. Feeling aggrieved, he uttered, "Alright, I'll accept Commander Cross's punishment and eat it."
Once he finished speaking, he reluctantly squatted down, picking up the food from the ground and placing it back on the tray.
Tyrell and the others had no choice but to follow Eiken's lead and begin picking up the food. It brought a satisfying feeling to Colin and the others, including Shadow Widow, as they witnessed the scene. As arrogant as they were when turning over tables, that's how pathetic they look now while picking up food.
