SAVED BY THE LYCAN KING (Elisa)

Chapter 39

GINA'S POV

I had never felt such anger boiling in my veins. Jackson had the audacity to

compare me to Elise. Elise, of all people. I couldn't let that slide. This as all Elise's

fault.

With Helen at my side, we stormed toward where Elise was. She was supposed to be washing guards in the backyard.

"I can't believe him!" I shrieked.noveldrama

"I can't either. How dare he compare you to her? She's a nobody"

"Exactly! He has no right and neither does she"

When we got to the backyard, we saw Elise there. She was busy, hunched over a line of freshly washed clothes. She had her back to us. Perfect.

"What do you want to do now?" Helen asked.

"Just watch me," I muttered, my eyes narrowing at the sight of Elise. "She needs to know her place."

We reached the clothesline, and without a second thought, I pulled hard on the rope, sending the wet clothes into the dirt. Elise turned around. Her eyes were wide with shock and confusion. For a moment, there was silence as she took in the scene, then her eyes met mine.

"Gina, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"It's Luna to you! Don't you ever call me by my name again"

Elise took a deep breath "Luna, what are you doing"

I smiled "Oh, just helping you out, Elise. Wouldn't want you to get too comfortable in your new position."

Elise's face flushed red. "I have no idea what's going on. I don't understand why you're doing this."

Helen stepped forward, crossing her arms over her chest. "Maybe if you weren't so busy playing the victim, you'd realize why."

I could see the hurt in Elise's eyes, and it only fueled my anger.

"Jackson compared you to me, can you believe that?" I spat out. "As if you could ever measure up."

Elise's eyes flickered with something I couldn't quite place—defiance maybe? "I'm not trying to measure up to anyone."

"That's because you can't," I snapped back. "You're nothing but a maid now. Remember that."

She opened her mouth to respond, but I cut her off. "Oh, by the way, I'll be planning this year's Lunas gathering. It's in three days."

Her face paled when I said that. I could see how even more hurt she was. When she was Luna, she was the one who would plan it but now, I had taken over her position. I wanted to rub it in her face every chance I got.

Elise blinked, clearly taken aback. "Three days? But I don't even have the guest list or any information."

I smirked. "That's not your problem. You're not Luna anymore"

"Oh" she murmured, looking down at the grounds there anything I can do to help? I have the experience. could help you out. If you could give me the guest list, I could tell you what the Lunas like. They all have their meal preferences and

"No. Just shut up! It's none of your business. I'll handle it. And remember, you have no right to make demands from me or try to help me. I'm your Luna now. Don't you ever forget that."

The defeated look in her eyes was almost too satisfying. This turned out better than I expected. This wasn't the end. I was going to crush Elise's spirit to the point of no return. I wanted her to know that there was no redemption for her. My plan was working perfectly now. I was queen and I wanted it to remain that way.

"Yes, Luna," she whispered.

I turned to leave, feeling very satisfied with how things turned out. Helen followed closely behind. We had shown Elise her place. She was nothing, and I would make sure she never forgot it.

As we walked away, I couldn't resist one last glance over my shoulder. Elise stood there, looking lost and broken among the scattered clothes on the ground.

It was perfect. A smile crept on to my lips at the sight of her.

She needed to understand that in this world, there were those who led and those who followed. And Elise, she was meant to follow.

ELISE'S POV

I stood there, dumbfounded, as Gina and Helen stormed off. Their laughter echoed in my ears as they walked off.

The clothes I had hand-washed now laid scattered on the dirty ground. My hands trembled as I took in the scene before me. What had I done to make Gina so angry this time?

As I bent down to pick up the clothes, I couldn't help but replay the confrontation in my mind. Gina's words cut deep. Her words felt like knives being pierced in my heart.

I was nothing but a maid to her now, and she relished in reminding me of my new, diminished status. But why? Why was she so furious with me?

I felt bad. I was supposed to be the one planning the Luna gathering, not her. In fact, I had looked forward to it all year. I couldn't believe this was my life now.

I was lost in my thoughts when I heard footsteps approaching. I looked up to see Helen rushing back towards me. At the sight of her, I thought she wanted to taunt me again.

Before I could react, she slipped a small piece of paper into my hand and ran away, rejoining Gina without a word.

I stared at her retreating figure in disbelief. What was that about?

I unfolded the note, my fingers fumbling with the crumpled paper. The note read: Meet me by the back garden this evening. —Helen

I stared at the note, looking at it repeatedly to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me.

Why would Helen want to meet me in secret? And why did she slip me the note in a hidden manner?

I had so many questions in my head but one thing was clear-I had to find out what Helen wanted.
