Say You Will Be Mine

Chapter 23 The Truth About That Year

Chapter 23 The Truth About That Year

Rebecca did not know what had happened.

The last thing she saw was that Mommy lied on the ground covering in blood, and then Aaron covered

her eyes.

They stood outside the operating room for a long time, and finally Aaron took her to the nurse and told

her that he was going to take care of Mommy, but never came back.

Rebecca did not know what was happening to Mommy. She was worried but afraid of the man in front

of her. She had not forgotten the man's words that he would throw her into the water.

Tears were on her little face, and she tried to hold back the tears that were about to fall. Mommy said

she could not cry.

Samuel looked at Rebecca kept shrinking back and thought of that he would throw her into the water,

he regretted.

He rubbed his face and made no attempt to communicate with Rebecca. Instead, he stood up and said

to the doctor, “Take me to see her.”

The doctor and nurse looked at each other.

“Huh?” Samuel looked back doubtfully.

“Aaron has taken her body away. The child is still there, why don’t you see the child first?”

Samuel tried his best to suppress the impulse rising from the bottom of his heart and said deadpan,

“Lead the way.”

The child was placed in the incubator, which was a tiny ball. His eyes barely opened.

The doctor explained that because of the premature birth, the child was still very weak. There might be

congenital deficiency, so more attention should be paid in the time of rearing.

Thankfully, the child did not inherit Matilda's leukemia.

This was the greatest gift a mother gave her child.

Samuel silently looked at the child in front of him through the glass. He was very small, eyes and nose

wrinkled into a small ball, the palm was small, as if he would die accidentally.

But it was the child that Matilda risked her life to give birth!

His heart began to throb again. He held his hand to his heart and suddenly gasped as if he were being

strangled.

The nurse beside him suddenly let out a cry of surprise and ran quickly towards him, and he lost

consciousness again.

Three days later, Samuel holding the swaddling child with left hand Rebecca with the right hand

opened the door.

He saw Laney.

Laney pushed the wheelchair and seemed to be cleaning up the living room. When she saw Samuel

come in, she turned around and smiled. She slid the wheelchair and wanted to hold hands with

Rebecca.

“You are back, Rebecca, let me hold you.”

Rebecca shook of Samuel's hand and hid behind the door in fear.

The embarrassing smile on Laney's face lingered for a second, and then she raised her face and said,

“Rebecca may be too sad. Samuel -”

“Who gave you the keys?” Samuel lowered his head to look at the innocent “fiancee” sitting on the

wheelchair and asked without expression.

“I...” Laney was stunned and could not find an excuse.

At that moment, another person came out of the kitchen, holding an oil-stained apron that Matilda had

used so often, apparently it had been used as a rag.

She threw the apron into the trash can.

There was already a lot of Matilda's stuff spiking up in the trash can.

The veins on Samuel's forehead all jumped up.

Amanda did not see it, but said with a smile, “Samuel, you finally come back. I just finished cleaning

and haven't gone to the second floor yet. In the future --”

“Who the hell let you in!” Samuel shouted and stopped Amanda from talking.

“Oh, Samuel, what is wrong with you? Who make you angry? It's all right. Laney is going to move in,

and you're going to --”

Before she could finish her words, the trash can on her side was kicked over by Samuel. And Matilda's

personal belongings fell to the ground.

Shocked, she stared at Samuel, who was on the verge of going mad, and said helplessly,

“Samuel...Samuel, what are you angry about...”

The child in his chest moved his head uneasily and pouted, seeming to be about to cry. Samuel

pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to calm himself down.

He pointed to the door and said deadpanned to Amanda. “Go out and I need to talk to her.”

Amanda had the calendar from the wall of the living room in her hand. She took a look at Laney and

was reluctant to leave.

“Get out of here!” Samuel shouted.

Amanda was so startled by him that she quickly ran out.

The child could not help crying. Frowning, Samuel, regardless of Laney, went to the car and took the

milk powder just bought, and then dissolved milk powder based on the book.

He had tested the temperature with his palm and was about to feed the child. Out of the corner of his

eye, he found Rebecca hiding behind the kitchen door and looking at him with alert.

Samuel gently took a sign, waved his hand toward Rebecca and handed over the milk bottle to her.

“Say it if you don’t trust me. You feed him, and be careful not to let him choke.”

He put the child in a corner of the sofa, so that Rebecca could feed the child.

At this time, the milk bottle in the hands of Rebecca was snatched by another slender hand. At the

same time, the voice of Laney, who thought she was very sensible and just, sounded out, “Let me feed

him. Rebecca is still a child. And I will take care of them in the future, let it get familiar with the work

first.”

However, the milk bottle was snatched away by Samuel and stuffed into the hands of Rebecca. He said

to Laney, “Come over, let’s talk.”

Then he turned and sat down at the other end of the sofa.

The eyes of Laney became malicious in the moment that he turned around. She took a glance at

Rebecca, then slid wheelchair to Samuel with a smile.

Samuel's fingers moved. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the two children. Finally,

he resisted the impulse to take out his cigarette box.

“Let's break off the engagement.” Samuel said without blinking eyes.

Laney was stunned. Moments later, her eyes were full of tears, and she looked pitiful.

Her fingers holding the handrail were all pale and she said, “Samuel, why? What have I done wrong? I

disagree.”

His heart would have softened as usual, but now he just stood up and said coldly, “I just wanted to

inform you. I didn't mean to ask for your permission.”

Seeing such a strange Samuel, Laney smiled, “Is it because Matilda? What did she say to you?

Although I am her sister, she is too cruel. In those days she left you and ran away with Aaron. Did she

play the same trick on you? Even she was dead, she did not want to let you go? Samuel, you cannot

be fooled!”

Samuel burst into anger. He turned his head, took out a piece of paper and threw it in Laney's face. He Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

said in a cold voice.

“You made it up that she was vicious! Laney. You are really her good sister!”
