Chapter 11
Rase’s POV
I carefully lower myself onto the chair, my heart racing in anticipation of what the Alpha might say. His piercing gaze never leaves me, and I struggle to maintain eye contact, feeling a mixture of fear and a strange fluttering in my chest.
I can’t help but notice the water droplets trailing down his chiseled stomach, adding to the allure and magnetism that surrounds him,
The Alpha takes a moment to collect his thoughts, his intense stare unyielding as he paces before me.
Finally, he breaks the silence, his voice low and commanding…
“Rose, despite the incident in my office, I recognize your efforts with your other tasks. You’ve done well.” He comments as I nod slowly,
My breath catches in my throat, not expecting the acknowledgement from him.
The Alpha then continues, his tone slightly softer but still authoritative…
“However, it’s important that we establish some boundaries, I appreciate your curiosity as Derrick was, in fact, your rejected mate, but you must remember your place. You are my maid, and your primary responsibility is to serve me and to attend to your assigned tasks. Your curiosity in my office was a breach of trust, and it will not be tolerated again in the future. Is that clear?” He grumbles, as I remain silent–embarrassed by my actions.
I swallow hard, feeling a pang of guilt and remorse before replying- “Yes, Alpha,” I respond, my voice barely above a whisper. I apologise for my mistakes. It won’t happen again.”
The Alpha’s gaze softens ever so slightly, and he moves to sit on the edge of his bed, his body language indicating a moment of contemplation.
“Very well Rose, we can move on. It is not often that I give second chances, so count yourself lucky. You will need to prove yourself and regain my confidence.” He instructs, as I clasp my hands together on my lap to keep them from shaking
What made me so different?
Why has he been so kind to me thus far?
I nod, determined to prove myself worthy of his trust again at some point in the future… “I understand, Alpha. I will do everything in my power to be better. Th–Thank you for another chance.” I thank him briefly…
A flicker of something resembling approval flashes in his eyes, but he quickly masks it.
“Good.” He nods back-
“You may go.” He suddenly sighs next, seeming conflicted with his inner thoughts, as a pang of disappointment suddenly arises within me…
Why did I seem to enjoy his company so much?
Perhaps because nobody else has ever given me the attention back home…
With that, I rise from the chair, making my way towards the door. I steal a last glance at the Alpha, his hunched frame looking conflicted. I can’t help but wonder what lies beneath his tough exterior, what secrets and vulnerabilities he guards.
But for now, my focus remains on proving myself to him again, caring his trust, and approval.
just as I reach for the doorknob, the Alpha’s voice stops me in my tracks. “Rose, wait. I turn to face him, a flicker of hope igniting within me. “I have a proposition for you.”
I blink in surprise, my eyes widening. A proposition, Alpha?”
He nods, standing and turning to me fully–his gaze steady. I’ve been informed by Buth that you’ve been admiring the grounds outside? Would you and your wolf like to accompany me on a run through the pack’s territory? I can show you around properly… it’s only fair if you are to stay here.” He expresses, clearing his throat briefly before returning to his tough demeanour.
1 Freeze, a mix of embarrassment and dread flooding through me.
Chapter 11
“Uhh… I would love t–to… Al–Alpha, but 1 am embarrassed to admit that I… I haven’t exactly met my wolf yet.” I blunder like an idiot, looking everywhere else around the room that isn’t his eyes.
I was mortified…
What fensale my age doesn’t have a wolf? I may as well be a basic human at this rate!
His eyebrows furrow in irritation, and his tone turns curt. “What do you mean you haven’t met your woll? That’s unheard of. You’re a runt, yes, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have a wolf. My mother was friends with a woman who was a runt she had a woll” He argues, as though I were lying, which only hurts me more…
what
I bow my head, a sense of shame washing over me. “I’m sorry, I don’t know v never have or meet their wolf. It’s just… your lock I guess? I begin to explain-
else to say Alpha. I read in a book that it was common for runts to
“They say that the mating process can strengthen a runt and sometimes help bring forward their wolf… but I guess I wasn’t even fortunate enough to give that option a try after what happened!” I try to laugh slightly, attempting to bring light to the topic, however failing miserably as the Alphas gaze doesn’t shift.
He grumbles under his breath, muttering something unknown, clearly frustrated by the fact.
Maybe he will begin to see me for the weak
runt
it that I am now?
I gulp at the thought, before a brief moment passes and he seems to regain his composure.
“Since you are yet to meet your wolf, we’ll go on a walk instead. I’ll show you the grounds. You’ll get a sense of what it means to be part of the Royal Blood Pack.” He states, before moving to his closet to retrieve clothes.
I lift my head, grateful for the opportunity and the fact he isn’t yet disgusted by my presence…
Th–Thank you, Alpha. I would love to get some fresh air and explore your pack… you know, I didn’t even know the name of your pack until now! The Royal Blood is a nice name I compliment, hearing him chuckle suddenly from his closet.
“Glad you think so.” He comments, before I hear the shuffling of clothes signifying that he was getting dressed.
He exits the closet moments later, dressed in some casual black sweat pants and a black polo shirt. He holds his expensive looking sneakers in hand, before sitting on the bed to tug them on…
It is only then that I realise… embarrassment overwhelming me yet again today.
“Uhh… I don’t think I can actually go outside… I have no… um shoes… I admit, picking at the skin beside my nail in ridicule.
I’ve never owned shots…as bizarre as it may sound… they didn’t think to ever give me a pair at my old pack… and I was barely ever outside too so it didn’t matter much 1 guess?
His
expression softens slightly as I look back to him as he stands… “That won’t do. Give me a second.”
The Alpha reaches for his phone and makes a call, instructing someone to bring a couple of pairs of shoes upstairs in different sizes for me to try…
I ask to use the bathroom before we leave, doing a quick pee, before minutes later, a pack member arrives with four pairs of what seems to be brand new white sneakers.
I try on
on two pairs, before selecting the ones that fit me best – the Alpha taking note that they where a size six for future.
“These are great thank you!” I smile down at my covered feet, enjoying the security that the sneakers brought.
The Alpha stands by the door, waiting for me with a chuckle. I join him, and together we head downstairs- stepping out into the fresh air.
As we walk side by side, he begins to share more about the Royal Blood Pack. We pass by some pack members who offer their wives and hellos, as I admire the gardens flowers from up close.
are beautiful!” I state, as he nods in agreement staring at the red flowers.
“A beautiful rose to match your new name.” He comments, causing a blush to creep up on my cheeks…
“You know… you’ve never told me your name… Alpha what? I ponder, as we continue to walk through the marvellous grounds.
“Alpha Silver.” He states confidently, his tone unwavering as I smile.
“That’s cool!” I chime, as the corner of his lip pulls up in a smile.
“My first name is Ashton… but everyone addresses me as Alpha or Alpha Silver.” The Alpha explains, as I warm up to being in his presence more – learning more personal information about him.
About Alpha Ashton Silver…
“Maybe, if you’re good, I’ll let you call me Ashton when nobody’s around…” His velvety tone meets my ears, much lower than before, as I blush and avoid eye contact,
If I knew any better, I’d say he was perhaps borderline flirting with me now… but he can’t be!
How ridiculous of me to even think such things! I am a runt and he is a powerful Alpha…
On our walk, the Alpha explained that he was a well respected Alpha in the country. Under his rule, he leads eight other packs across the country, each with their own Alpha following his final say.
However, the six other packs making up the remainder in the country, are currently at war with the Royal Blood Pack and it’s alliances.
As we explore the vast grounds, I see a different side to Ashton. He’s not just a commanding figure, but someone burdened with immense responsibility and a genuine desire to protect his pack.
I find myself more drawn to him than ever before, wondering why he has shown me such unexpected kindness amidst his duties as an Alpha.
As we continue our walk, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the power of the pack, I can’t help but feel a connection growing between us – even somewhat friendly?
But I couldn’t get ahead of myself here… anything can happen…
He could banish me tomorrow for all I know!
I have to be careful…
