Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 980

Chapter 980:

Kellan narrowed his eyes. “Why? Is there a problem with parking there?”

“Oh, no, no problem at all!” The man quickly flashed a big smile. “I just didn’t expect such important guests to visit our village. I wanted to make sure you got a proper welcome.”

Whispers began to spread among the people nearby.

“I heard that car costs over ten million!”

“Not every day you see someone this rich come to our village.”

“Do you think the Hayes family went into trouble again?”

Hearing the whispers, Amya’s parents exchanged a glance, their eyes lighting up.

Was that car worth ten million?

Troy, who had been so full of himself just moments before, suddenly changed. He forced a big smile.

“I’m so sorry! There must have been some misunderstanding earlier!” he said quickly.

He grabbed Mindy and nudged her. “We’re really sorry about that. Please don’t take it the wrong way.”

But Allison didn’t respond to him. She went straight to the point. “Who did you sell Amya to?”

Her words shocked the crowd into silence.

Troy broke into a cold sweat and quickly denied it. “Sell our daughter? We’re good people — we would never do something like that!”

“If you want to know more about Amya, just ask,” Troy said, wearing a fake, flattering grin. “Come on in. It’s too windy out here. Let’s go inside and talk.”

Mindy quickly crouched down and opened the door, her smile eager and fake.

“Everything that happened earlier was just a misunderstanding,” she said. “It’s too crowded out here. Let’s move inside to talk.”

As she spoke, she shot a sharp, irritated look at the crowd of villagers. “Go on now. Stop staring and mind your business. These two are our guests!” she snapped.

Allison could see through their shallow act.

Still, she needed information, so she and Kellan followed them into the yard.

Outside, the villagers remained where they were. They stretched their necks to catch a glimpse, murmuring quietly to each other.

“The Hayes family sure knows the right people, rubbing shoulders with all these rich folks,” someone remarked.

“Who would’ve guessed their daughter would end up working for such a big company?” another added.

“Didn’t you hear? They gambled once more and even sold their own daughter!” came the shocked reply.

Inside the house, Troy’s face brightened, clearly pleased with himself. He eyed Allison with a mix of interest and greed.
