Chapter 256
"Oh, um, yeah." She took a tumble and felt utterly foolish.
Moira blinked. "Need me to walk you out?"
Even though Moira had escorted Barclay out many times before, for some reason, she still felt a bit bashful. "Yeah."
With time ticking away, Barclay agreed and headed for the door, with Moira quick to follow.
Jordan had been waiting for Barclay for quite a while now, starting to sweat with the worry.
Finally spotting Barclay emerge from the villa, he breathed a sigh of relief.
And when Jordan caught sight of Moira, suddenly everything clicked.
'Hey, Mr. Covington and Mrs. Covington sure have a strong bond,' he mused.
Moira halted at the doorstep of the villa. "Take care on your way."
She waved her hand gently.
Barclay nodded. "I'll be back in a couple of days."
"Alright."
He might have been putting on an act, but the way his eyes met hers always gave her this uncanny feeling that they truly were a married couple. Being handsome really could be deceiving.
Moira watched Barclay climb into the car with a smile before turning to head back.
But just as she did, a sudden stabbing pain shot through her knee, causing her leg to buckle momentarily.
Thankfully, she reacted quickly this time, grabbing onto the nearby door for support, yet Barclay inside the car had already noticed.
"Stop the car," he ordered.
As Moira steadied herself, she heard the screech of brakes as the vehicle came to an abrupt halt.
She blinked, instinctively looking out the door.
To her surprise, the car, which had already started moving, was now reversing.
'Huh? Did he drop something? Why would he suddenly turn back?' she wondered.
As she puzzled over this, the rear door swung open, and Barclay stepped out of the car.
"What's wrong with your left leg?" he inquired.
"I..."
Moira felt like her face could catch fire with how flushed it was.
She watched Barclay approach, her mind going blank.
'What should I say? Can I say my leg gave out? Or should I just tell the truth?' she hesitated. Regardless of the excuse, Moira felt equally embarrassed.
"Um?"
With her hesitation, Barclay had already reached her side.
He bent down and scooped her up without a word, and before Moira
could even protest, she me
herself being carried into the villa.
"I'm fine! Aren't you supposed to catch your flight?"

Barclay paid her no mind
whatsoever, simply carrying her over to the sofa and setting her down with an inexplicably cold expression on his face. "Are you going to let me check, or do I have to do it myself?"
LV
Moira had been married to him for nearly two months, and this was the first time she had seen Barclay so stern.
She instantly wilted, hastily explaining, "It's just my left knee. I bumped it on the corner of the bed when I got up this morning."
"Let me see."
Barclay glanced at her, clearly
expecting her to roll up her pants
but
When she didn't, he simply
down and started to undo
them himself.
Moira reluctantly began to roll up the pant leg, and when she saw the extensive bruising on her knee, even she was taken aback.
'Is it that serious? It's just a bump, isn't it?' she wondered.
The bruising on her knee looked rather alarming.
Barclay furrowed his brow. "You fell because it hurt, didn't you?"
She wanted to say no, but under his penetrating gaze, Moira swallowed hard, unable to lie. "Um, yeah."
"I'll have the family doctor come over. You stay here."
"What about you? Your flight..."
Barclay looked at her incredulously, then burst out laughing. "You can't even take care of yourself, and you're worried about me?" "I'm sorry."
Moira hung her head, feeling nothing but guilt.
