Chapter 7 – New Job, New Life
"Hi, sis! How's New York?" Honey sounds so lively while talking to Jada over Messenger.
"I'm fine, but I miss you," she replied, pouting at her. She even moved closer to the camera to kiss her and that made Honey laugh.
It's been 2 years since Jada got to New York. Her living expenses are all on Faith still, but her cousin wanted it that way. She said it was her way of returning the favor for when it was her who lived with Jada's family. Jada and her cousin would go out almost every night. It's her way of moving on after breaking up with her boyfriend two months after Jada arrived.
They would always go bar hopping and it's not just some chill night out. Instead, they'd go to all-out parties.
Jada got to meet other guys. She doesn't know though, why she doesn't feel interested. She dated someone once, but it didn't last long.
There was this one time when they got drunk and he took her to his apartment. It was a hot and sizzling night.
He knew Jada didn't want to have sex so he asked her to just give him a head. The woman agreed with full confidence but when his pee-pee said hello to her, she literally run out of his apartment.
Jada also tried it once on a banana. Alright, not just once. The poor bananas became her practice tools. But she's never really tried doing it in real life.
After a couple of months, she dated another guy again. He was a resident doctor at the hospital where she rushed Faith due to food poisoning.
They'd only been dating for two weeks when she tried doing it to him. It was a funny encounter because all he did was laugh at her.
Jada could even remember him asking if she knew what she was doing, as she was shaking badly before they even got started. Fortunately, they were able to end it without any mishaps.
When she asked the guy how her performance was, she got positive feedback. But she didn't do it again. The guy was huge and she felt like he could reach her stomach and her power couldn't handle that. "Sis, are you still interested in modeling?" Honey asked while spreading peanut butter on her bread. It's only eight in the morning for her and she's just about to have her breakfast. "Modelling? Are you serious?
"Yes, why not? This time, it's international modeling though!" someone said out of nowhere, it was Bambi.
"Gosh! You scared me!" Jada exclaimed, teasing their friend, as usual.
"You're still the same!" he snapped and frowned. "You still love teasing me," then he rolled his eyes at her.
Jada giggled and threw him a peace sign, "I'm just kidding! As if you don't know how much I love you!" She was relieved when he finally smiled. "Where's our gingerbread man?" she asked, referring to Ada. "He went home to Pamplona, his mother got sick," Honey narrated. Jada nodded at her, feeling sad for their friend. "So? What do you think?" Honey asked again, it was about the modeling offer. "Sure! You think I'll make it?" she asked, not confident enough to accept the offer.
"Yes! You'll definitely make it. Your face is beautiful, your body's to die for, and those legs! They're winners!" Bambi stated in an exaggerated tone.
What Jada loves about Bambi is that he always praises her, especially her legs. There was even a time when he suggested that she should have them insured. Just like what other people would say. "Alright! Let's do it!" She finally agreed to the offer. However, she suddenly remembered something.
Joining Honey in her career means she'll have to go back to her home country. That suddenly made her feel worried.
As if Honey knew what Jada was thinking, the woman chuckled, "Don't worry! We'll be in Singapore for six months before we come back here," she smiled.
Jada smiled in return. This woman really knows her. She didn't have to say anything but she already knew her worries.
She accepted her best friend's offer and that's when her career as an international model started. She flew to Singapore after a week and signed a 6-month contract with her agency, then they started doing shows. They spent three months in Singapore before flying to Japan, where they stayed for two months. Then they went back to Singapore and stayed there for another two months before they were given a vacation. She came back to the country with Honey. But at that time, Honey and Kobe split up so she didn't get the chance to see him.
Before flying back to Singapore, they were informed that it was their last show with the agency. Jada agreed with the contract extension but when it ended, she opted to go freelance as well.
It was better than having an agency. As a freelancer, they get to pick the shows they want to attend. They can turn down offers whenever they want and just accept shows depending on their preferences. Madam Romualdez, the owner of their former agency, was generous enough to recommend them to her clients. And thanks to her, they didn't run out of shows to attend.
Recalling the past, Jada felt a pinch in her heart. She never wanted to go back, but it's part of her job and she had no choice.
Her reminiscing was interrupted when Bambi pat her shoulder. "So! How was France?"
The van started rolling on the way to their new condo. She and Honey left their old units and moved to bigger units right after college.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
It's been three years since they graduated. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to apply what she learned, since she started modeling two years ago. Jada's not that popular yet, but she's starting to make a name for herself. "Hmm... I met a lot of gorgeous lads~" she teased. She knew that was all Bambi was interested in.
"Damn you! I told you to take me along!" he lashed at her, envy evident in his tone, and Jada couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah right, as if you can travel without a passport. Or maybe I can try to fit you into my luggage next time."

Bambi frowned, "I suddenly remembered that thief!" he exclaimed, rolling his eyes and scratching his forehead.
He was referring to his most recent partner. They spent the night in his apartment and he got drunk. When he woke up, the guy was gone along with his bag.
Aside from that, the guy also took his phone, two tablets, and all his jewelry, except for the ones he was wearing at that time. That's why he was furious. He lost a lot.
"If you weren't a whore, that wouldn't have happened to you," Jada scolded him while picking on her nails.
Honey can't help but giggle next to her. Edward, on the other hand, keeps glancing at Jada through the rearview mirror.
"How are the hookups?" Bambi asked again, not holding back though he knew Edward was with them.
Jada paused for a few seconds, thinking, "I did, twice."
Bambi gave her a long eye roll, long enough that his eyes had gone all-white for a few seconds. He was pissed. "I hope you'll get boils in your nostrils," he cursed.
The woman laughed at him but she quickly stopped when she noticed Edward staring at her. She then turned her attention to the man. "Did you miss me?" she asked in her most flirtatious tone. "O-Of course," he stuttered, scratching his nape as he was embarrassed.
Jada shook her head at him, "You shouldn't, not yet. You can only miss me when I'm back to my old self. For now, I'm not worth it," she reminded him.
Edward frowned and Jada felt sorry for him too, as he'd been trying to give subtle hints about his feelings for her since they were in college. Unfortunately, she can't give him anything in return.
