Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 841

Chapter 841:

Gabriela, holding a teething stick, toddled briskly ahead, while Eileen followed with a bottle in hand, guiding her toward the break room.noveldrama

The break room was vacant. Eileen rinsed a cup with hot water, balanced the temperature with some cold water, and turned just in time to see Gabriela nearing the door. Through the curtain, she noticed someone approaching. No, the person probably couldn’t see Gabriela from that angle. It was easy for them to accidentally bump into Gabriela!

Eileen hastily set her cup down and sprinted toward Gabriela. Before she could make out who was at the door, she noticed the steaming liquid about to cascade onto Gabriela’s body.

She swiftly covered Gabriela’s face with one hand and pulled her back by the collar with the other. Despite her quick reaction, the hot water splashed onto the back of her hand, and some droplets hit Gabriela’s arm.

Gabriela burst into tears. Pain throbbed in Eileen’s hand, and cold sweat ran down her face, but her focus was entirely on Gabriela. Ignoring her own burn, she bent down, scooped Gabriela up, and gently patted her back to calm her. Red marks appeared on Gabriela’s arm from the burns. Eileen wanted to apply cold water to them, but Gabriela clung tightly to her neck, crying uncontrollably.

Gabriela’s sharp cries caught the attention of many, and panic quickly spread as people realized the child had been scalded. She was Bryan’s beloved daughter, after all.

Almost daily, employees saw Bryan cradling his daughter with an expression of sheer love. He clearly adored her.

“Why are you all still standing there?” Jessica put down her cup and yelled. “Go get Mr. Dawson!”

Someone hurried to fetch Bryan.

In less than ten seconds, Bryan appeared, his expression grim. His eyes quickly took in the sight of Eileen’s reddened hand and Gabriela’s blistered arm, and his face turned cold. He gently lifted Gabriela into his arms, soothing her softly. He then led Eileen to the sink to rinse her hands with cold water while carefully dabbing cool water on the red spots dotting Gabriela’s tiny arm.

Jessica approached them. “How could you let the child get hurt, Eileen? The break room is such a dangerous place. Why did you bring her here? Look at the burns on her arm. She must be in so much pain. It breaks my heart just seeing it.”

She didn’t reveal that it was she who had spilled the hot liquid that scalded both Eileen and Gabriela.

Eileen’s heart ached as she observed the red dots and blisters on Gabriela’s arm. Stung by Jessica’s biting remarks, Eileen turned off the tap abruptly, spun around, and slapped Jessica across the face.

Jessica’s confident expression disappeared as she instinctively covered her face. After regaining her composure, she yelled, “How dare you strike me, Eileen? I’m the director of VQ Group! You’re just an employee! How dare you hit me?”

“Also the future successor of VQ Group. You’re just a director,” Eileen countered, her face stern, her tone authoritative.

Before, few had known of Eileen’s true identity. When it was revealed that she was the future successor of the VQ Group, many realized she was the lost granddaughter the Vazquez family had been searching for. She was Conroy’s daughter!
