Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 847

Chapter 847:

Eileen had sensed the urgency in Dalores’ message and perhaps the undercurrents of a deeper turmoil left by Julio’s unexpected appearance at the hospital. She knew Dalores was calculating her escape, thinking about how quickly she could accumulate the funds needed to go to a place where Julio couldn’t reach her. Eileen estimated that it would take a few months of saving for Dalores to make her plan feasible.

Her train of thought was abruptly derailed by the buzzing of her phone. It was Conroy calling—his timing almost uncanny. Bryan had mentioned that he would call, and sure enough, he had. Eileen answered the call.

“Where have you been these last couple of days?” Conroy’s voice was tinged with impatience.

“In the hospital,” Eileen responded calmly.

There was a brief pause before Conroy’s tone softened. He feigned concern. “Is it anything serious? I can send someone to look after you. You should rest and not burden Mr. Dawson with your issues; he is needed at the company.”

Eileen now understood why Bryan had said that about Conroy.

The dots connected seamlessly—Conroy’s lack of leadership was evident, and Bryan was the real pillar behind VQ Group’s important project. Presenting the project couldn’t be expedited.

“Mr. Dawson has insisted I remain here until I’m fully recovered,” Eileen lied smoothly, leaning back and staring blankly at the ceiling. Conroy’s anxiety spiked upon hearing this. A healing period of ten days would delay the project.

“Eileen, you must find a way to shorten your hospital stay. Mr. Dawson needs to come back to the company quickly!” Conroy instructed.noveldrama

Eileen responded with a hint of frost in her tone, “Mr. Dawson is not just upset about my injury; it’s Gabriela’s condition that concerns him. Pushing him now would only backfire. You’ll need to manage the situation yourself.” She ended the conversation sharply, silencing Conroy’s further protests.

She then silenced her phone and set it aside, deciding to ignore Conroy. Conroy called twice and sent several messages: “Rest early after dinner. There’s going to be a great show to watch tomorrow morning.”

Bryan checked the time and said he could take Eileen downstairs for a walk.

Eager for a change of scenery, Eileen quickly agreed. She donned her coat and shoes in excitement. She really wanted to be distracted from the hospital. She believed that perhaps she could be discharged after tomorrow. Just as she walked out of the in-patient department, she saw Bryan soothing their daughter, who giggled in his embrace. “I know you’ve been bored inside, but stay close…”

When they reached a quiet area, Bryan set Gabriela down. She stretched out her small legs and sprinted ahead energetically.

Meanwhile, Eileen didn’t hurry, strolling leisurely behind Bryan with her hands in her pockets.

“So, you wanted to come out to take Gabriela for a walk?” he asked. He had only brought her along because it was convenient. “She’s been cooped up for too long,” Bryan explained, watching Gabriela’s tiny form. When Gabriela paused and smiled at him, it warmed his heart.

He didn’t catch Eileen’s subtle hints.
