Stakes Claim On Her

Chapter 2: Urge Gabrielle

Chapter 2: Urge Gabrielle

The following week seemed to go by much smoother than the last.

I managed to slide by with only a few rough encounters.

Nothing too special, just the occasional rough bastard without manners.

The bruise that asshole vampire left on my arm is still there.

lts mostly faded into a gross yellow, but it still hurts a lot.

It's kept me from sleeping on that side of my body for the last week, which might just be the most annoying part about the bruise.

This weekend our pack is hosting its yearly business conference.

Since it's mostly meant to drum up business between the packs, there wouldn't be too many bloodsuckers around this weekend.

Unfortunately, most of them are scheduled for next week.

But at least for the next week, I'll only really have to deal with the wolves.

Typically, packs send their Betas or Gammas to conduct business issues and deal, but many Alphas choose to come themselves.

Some Alphas feel a strong need to always be involved with these things.

Just another side effect of male werewolves need to dominate.

As I make my way out of the employee area I can't help the unsettled feeling in my stomach.

It's been there all week.

My instincts are telling me something bad is going to happen.

‘’I Once I am firmly planted in my spot adjacent to the main door, I see Adam from across the lobby. He makes his way into the stairwell, presumably going up.

He won't be joining me for lunch today as usual.

Due to a large number of guests this week, Adam was stationed in the hotel portion of the building, on the upper floors.

This means I definitely have to watch the clock.

If I manage to forget lunch I'll have to go the rest of my shift hungry.

And that would seriously suck.

As the first guest of the day approaches, I plaster a fake smile on my face.

"Good morning sir. What can I help you find?" Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

The man standing before me appears to be in his mid-thirties, but he is absolutely beautiful none the less.

I can feel the power radiating off of him, indicating that he is at least a Gamma is status.

I can see the muscles straining against his dress shirt.

Why did these creatures always have to be so damn hot? "Lam Alpha Jackson Stewart of Red River.

I'm here to see Alpha Bernard to discuss the merger.’ He doesn't even look at me as he speaks, it's as if I wasn't even there.

Which is the standard with most people.

"Please take the elevator to the left up to the fourth floor.Rachael will direct you from there to Alpha Bernard's office.’’ The beautiful man doesn't respond and just walks off towards the elevator.

Your welcome, I think grumpily.

At least I get to take pleasure in the fact that this man will have to deal with Rachael, the Alpha'’s extremely arrogant assistant.

I'm pretty sure he only keeps her around because they are fucking.

Alpha denies it, but the walls of his office aren't as thick as he likes to think they are.

I can hear all that moaning and grunting from the hallway, even as a human.

A few hours later, and after a lunch break I actually remembered to take I was ready to begin the second half of my day.

Gotta love the afternoon rush.

Finely dressed and unarguably beautiful people bustle around me, only a few sparing me a sideways glance.

After helping a couple find their correct floor, I see my manager making his way over to me.

He is, of course, a werewolf.

Humans who worked here were never given positions of authority, no matter how small.

Werewolves could never work under a being as weak as a human, their natural born dominance would never allow it.

"We're putting you on the third floor for the rest of your shift today and for tomorrow as well"

Oh, they almost never move me.

"We need more people to serve and clear out the conference rooms. We had a much larger turn out this year then we expected"

He wasn't lying about the larger turnout.

I had seen a ridiculous amount of people today.

It wasn't awful, given how almost all of them fall into the eye-candy category, but it did mean I had to talk to quite a few more people then I was used to.

With that instruction, I head across the lobby to the stairs, since employees were strictly prohibited from taking the elevator, except in certain conditions.

Unfortunately, re-stationing was not a good enough reason for an elevator tide.

But as I begin my long march up the stairs, I have this strong urge to go back into the lobby.

What the hell, I think.

I feel like something is calling me back down.

I pause on the stairs, my hands tightly gripping the worn railing.

My only thought seems to be on this unrelenting need to go back down.

My body seemingly moves on its own.

But I only manage a single step down before I roughly pull back.

No, I tell myself.

If you go down there this will end badly.

They will beat you for not following orders, especially a werewolves orders.

I shake my head, take a deep breath, and head back up the stairs to the third floor.
