Chapter 293
Chapter 293
Hansen instantly picked up his phone to check. The boy in the photo had lost his previous good looks
and now looked uglier than a monkey, his face all wrinkled and eyes squinted from sourness.
Hansen nodded contentedly, "Always knew my girl got me. This photo is gonna be my new joke
material."
Mia was speechless. Using a goofy photo of her own grandson for laughs? That was something only
her dad would do. She spoke up, "Sometimes, when we mess up, you might want to consider if you're
part of the problem."
Hansen: "You think I've been bad to you?"
Mia didn't answer the question directly, instead letting Hansen to think for himself.
Naomi hadn't returned from buying corns yet, but there was already a visitor in the ward.
There was a knock. Mia got up to answer, "Hello, who are you looking for?"
The visitor looked about the same age as Hansen, another old man. He kept smiling at Mia, trying to
give off a friendly vibe. But his gaze made Mia uncomfortable.
Polite people didn't size folks up at first sight. Plus, she didn't like the look in his eyes.
Hansen in the room was getting impatient. "Who is it?" he asked.
Mia turned back and said, "I don't know, never seen him before. This old man does not seem to be able
to speak."
Finley was immediately irritated by the girl in front of him. She said he was unable to speak, indirectly
implying he was mute just because he didn't answer her question? She surely was articulate.
Hearing Hansen's voice, Finley called out with a smile, "Hansen, it's me, Finley."
Mia immediately knew he was an acquaintance of Hansen's, so she let Finley into the room.
Hansen also sat up, looking at the visitor. "Why are you here?" He had been joking with Mia, but he
immediately became serious.
Finley put down his gift, sat by Hansen's bed, and patted the blanket on him, "You're sick and in the
hospital. How could I not come and visit?"
Hansen also responded politely, forcing a smile, "Having me in your thoughts is enough. No need to
make the trip, it's such a hassle."
Mia didn't know who this man was, but seeing Hansen's caution, she became wary too.
Mia went to a nearby cabinet, took a cup, and poured some warm water for the guest, "We don't have
coffee here, so I hope water will do."
Finley took the cup from Mia, studying her face for a moment, "And you are?"
Everyone in Havenbrook's political and business circles knew that the Cedillo family's daughter was
found, but the Cedillos didn't seem to want to disclose her identity. So no one knew what Molly looked
like. Could this be her?
Only then did Hansen remember to introduce them, "This is my daughter-in-law, Andre's wife, Mia."
After Hansen finished introducing, Finley's smile widened. He looked at Mia and said, "So you're
Andre's wife."
So it was her, the one who made Brian embarrass himself three times.
She didn't look impressive, but Finley knew better than to underestimate her. He was already taken
aback by her at the door.
Hansen also introduced Mia, "Mia, this is my former colleague from when I worked in the government,
Finley. He's retired now and teaches at a university." Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Finley said with a grin, "You sure have a way with words. I didn't even get a chance to answer, and you
already labeled me as mute?"
Mia politely greeted him and apologized for her previous words, "I spoke out of line earlier. I'm sorry."
Hansen also defended her, "The gentleman is old, and it's normal if he didn't hear your question. We
have a good relationship. He wouldn't get mad over something so trivial. Don't feel guilty."
Hansen had gotten the last word in, leaving Finley with no comeback. "Hansen is right, why would an
old man like me get upset with a child?"
Feeling awkward, Mia went to wash some fruits.
Soon Naomi who went to buy corns returned. She immediately noticed Finley sitting by the bed when
she walked in, and greeted with a smile, "When did you get here?"
Finley turned to look at Naomi, "You're Bruce's wife, Naomi, right?"
Naomi nodded, "You have a great memory. You even remember a young one like me."
Finley said, "You're Bruce's wife, how could I forget?"
Mia came out of the kitchen, bringing fruits to them.
Naomi told Mia, "Mia, the butler called from home saying he's bringing food for Dad. Could you go get
him?"
Mia didn't understand what was happening but left the ward anyway.
After Mia left, she didn't return to the room. She went to the hospital entrance and sat on the steps,
watching the people come and go.
Back in the ward, the three were having a great chat.
Finley mentioned, "Molly has been found, right? Why isn't she here taking care of Hansen?"
Naomi explained, "The hospital room can only accommodate so many people. Mia and I are here
today, and Molly and Leo will come tomorrow."
"That's a shame. I haven't seen Molly in fifteen years. I wonder how she's doing. You're doing a good
job protecting her, keeping her away from the media. But what matters is that the child is finally back.
Hansen can now enjoy the happiness of family."
Hansen chuckled, "They're all naughty kids."
After waiting for more than half an hour, Mia felt extremely cold.
Later, when the butler bringing food arrived, Hansen asked, "Didn't you see Mia?"
The butler thought for a moment, then shook his head, "No, we must have missed each other."
Finley realized it was about time for them to have their meal, and knew he shouldn't overstay his
welcome. He made up an excuse and got up to leave, "Mr. Cedillo, take care of yourself."
Mr. Cedillo responded, "Sure, when I get discharged, you gotta come visit."
After Finley left, the smile was immediately wiped off the faces of the two in the room. Naomi turned to
the butler and asked, "Are you sure you didn't see Mia?"
The butler replied, "I did."
He remembered when he got off the car and was about to enter the hospital, he bumped into Mia. He
invited her to go upstairs with him, "Miss, why are you standing out here? It’s cold outside, let's go back
together."
Mia shook her head, "You go ahead. I'll be back later. If anyone asks, just say you didn't see me."
Even though he didn't understand, he did as she asked.
It wasn't until he arrived at the ward that he realized there was a guest inside.
Naomi laughed out loud when she learned the whole story. She turned to look at the similarly delighted
Hansen, "Mia is so smart." She somehow deciphered the hidden meaning in Naomi's words.
If it were someone else, they would likely only understand the surface meaning, but Mia knew she
needed to step aside.
Mr. Cedillo also nodded in agreement, "Mia is outstanding in many aspects, but sometimes she can be
a real headache."
