Chapter 26
“Mom, I swear I saw that jinx!” Emerose exclaimed when she informed Merly about what she saw.
“And you’re telling me that she’s with a boy? As in a kid?” Merely asked in disbelief. For years, they tried to look for Emerald but failed. But not because they worried about her after she left Jace’s mansion but because they wanted to know whether she had found Lucy.
“Are you not going to believe me?” Emerose asked.
“You said they were in a preschool; maybe she worked as a nanny, and her employer asked her to take the boy to school.”
“But she doesn’t look like a nanny. She was wearing something expensive.” Emerose replied. “What if she already had a family? Do you think it’s time for me to continue seducing Jace?”
“Are you crazy? Didn’t you hear your Dad the other day when he got home pissed because of that man?”
“But Mom, I like Jace. He’s handsome and rich; what more can I ask for?”
“Do you want to suffer the same fate as that jinx?” Merly asked her daughter.
“It’s fine if he provides me with everything I need. And Mom, do you think I will let myself suffer? I’ll make sure to have another man on the sidelines.”
“Stop your nonsense, Emerose. Don’t humiliate yourself by going to the SoftWare Group.” Merely warned her. But Emerose is a stubborn woman who does what she likes.
The next day, Emerose dressed up well and went to see Jace. Thinking Emerald had a life of her own, she believed that young Morgan would never hinder her plan of marrying Jace. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
With her black halter knee-length dress paired with her black stiletto, Emerose got out of her car and walked her way to the entrance of the SoftWare Group building. She made her lips extra red, planning to seduce Jace as she decided to get young Higginson at all costs. She was on her way to the elevator but was stopped by a guard.
“Excuse me, ma’am. Which department are you going to?” Emerose rolled her eyes at the guard and replied.
“Can’t you see that I am using this elevator? Where else do you think I am going? Don’t you know who I am? Do you still want your job?” She asked arrogantly. Since the elevator was used for the CEO’s floor, the guard thought she was the daughter of one of the board of directors, so he let her in. “Stupid!” Emerose said when she got in, pressed the CEO’s floor button, and waited for the elevator to stop.
Everyone looked at Emerose as soon as she got out of the elevator. They wondered who she was and why she was there. Jace was very strict about visitors, and they should inform Nolan so he could let his boss know.
“Ms. Morgan,” Kyle greeted. He decided to meet her before she could go to Jace’s office, which he knew would only annoy his friend. “I never expected to see you here.”
“Don’t I have any right to visit Jace? You know I always come here uninvited, and it’s fine with him.”
“I don’t think that’s the case now,” Kyle replied, smiling. He didn’t want to humiliate her, and he knew that was what would happen to Emerose if she insisted on seeing Jace.
“Excuse me? You know what, just get out of my way.” Emerose said angrily. “I have no time to argue with you. You’re Jace’s friend, so you have no right to tell me whether he would see me.”
“Be my guest,” Kyle said, moving aside, motioning his hand to give her way like royalty. Emerose raised a brow at him while she rolled her eyes arrogantly. Kyle followed her to see how his friend would throw her out of his office.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Jace asked as soon as he saw Emerose with Kyle behind her.
“Hi, Jace.” Greeted the woman, who had no idea that the man in front of her wanted to peel her alive.
“What are you doing, and how did you get here?” Asked Jace. As much as possible, he didn’t want to see any of them because he kept remembering every word they said about Emerald, making him angry.
“I used to come here, remember?” Emerose asked before she sat on the chair in front of him.
“I thought I made myself clear with your father. Is there something you didn’t understand?” Jace replied.
“Jace, you and Emerald had been separated for five years. She left you and came to another man. You know what kind of woman she is; you say so yourself. A bitch and a whore.” Jace balled his fist because the woman in front of him made him remember his stupidity, making him want to strangle her to death.
“You know nothing, Emerose. So, if I were you, leave my office before I forget you’re human.” Jace warned, but eldest Morgan didn’t listen and continued talking.
“Are you still expecting Emerald to come back? She’s not going to do that. I saw her looking happy, but one more thing: you won’t be able to show her off to your business partners and associates since she was working as a nanny.”
“What do you mean working as a nanny?” Jace asked curiously. He knew that it was not true because Emerald was now the CEO of ACEGame, with whom he was working. But he was intrigued by what Emerose told her. Kyle, who was listening to them, got curious as well.
Because of what Jace said, Emerose smirked, thinking she already caught his attention, so he told him what she saw the other day. “Leave now and never come back,” Jace said. Emerose eyes widened, and she couldn’t believe what she just heard.
“What?” she exclaimed, “After telling you the news about that jinx, this is what you’re going to tell me?”
“What?” Jace asked. “Do you still want me to call security and drag you out of my building?”
“How dare you! Yeah, Emerald was right in leaving you. You’re nothing but an asshole!” Emerose shouted. Jace trembled in anger because he already knew that. He knew what he did to his wife and wanted to make things right.
Emerose left his office angrily. She was frustrated that she didn’t get what she wanted and got mad at Emerald. ‘I am going to find you and make your life miserable, Emerald.’ she thought. ‘And you, Jace, I am not done with you. I know you have a thing for that jinx, even if you continuously hurt her when you’re still together. Whatever your reason for doing that to her, I will find out about it and use it against you.’
In Emerald’s office, she was looking into the characters of the games, and she started to feel furious. As soon as she started working, she asked her team to design the heroes and heroines, and what they gave her didn’t meet her standards simply because of the clothes. She got up from her chair and went outside, where her illustrators were.
“What’s the meaning of this?” she asked, making everyone look at her, confused.
“Is there a problem, Ma’am Emerald?”
“Janus, I told you what kind of clothes I want for our heroes and heroines, right?”
“Yes, Ma’am. But Sir Jace told us to do that.” Janus replied hesitantly.
“Who are you working for? Who is your direct supervisor?” Emerald asked again.
“You, Ma’am,” Janus replied hesitantly.
“Then why the hell are you following him instead of me?” she asked. Emerald wasn’t yelling or shouting. She asked him casually, but poor Janus felt her anger.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am. It will never happen again,” he replied. Emerald sighs as she massages her temple. She knew that he only followed their CEO, and if there was someone she needed to talk to about this, it was Jace.
“I’m sorry, too; please continue working,” Emerald said, and Janus nodded. “Where’s Jace’s office?” she asked, planning to go and see him.
“One floor down,” Janus replied,
“Thank you,” Emerald said and went to the stairs. She didn’t want to use the elevator since it was only one floor. Plus, she needed the courage to confront her husband. ‘Here I am thinking about my son and whether I would tell that bastard about him. Then, I needed to talk to him about other matters I thought we had already agreed on. Is he for real?’ she thought. ‘This is only my fourth day here, and this?’
As soon as she opened the door to the emergency stairs, Emerald sighed a deep breath before searching for Jace’s office. Her eyes were on her, and she wondered who she was. Finally, she found what she was looking for; she knocked before she turned the knob and opened the door only to find her husband with the same woman he was with on her birthday five years ago.
