Take Your Time To Love Me

Chapter 3 The Child Was Taken Away

Chapter 3 The Child Was Taken Away

"By the way, where do you live? We'll drop you home." Kevin turned around to ask Nancy when it occurred to him that he hadn't asked her address.

"LJ New City,"

she blurted out. Originally, she wasn't sure about where to go, but now she had decided to go home to deal with her sister.

"What a coincidence! Ryan, she is your neighbor."

Kevin continued, "Which villa do you live in? How come I have never seen you before?"

LJ New City was a high-end residential area developed by the Jin Group. Most of the people living in it were rich and powerful. It wasn't overcrowded with too many villas to ensure privacy for its residents, who were the cream of the society. Being a small community, almost everyone had met each other at some point or another.

Nancy, who appeared haggard without makeup, wearing her old-fashioned, threadbare overcoat, certainly didn't look like she belonged in LJ New City.

So it was natural for Kevin to be surprised.

Just then, they arrived at their destination. Nancy clutched her bag and said to the driver, "My home is right here. Please stop the car in front."

She deftly avoided his question and simply pointed to her house.

"The Luo family..." Kevin turned pale when he realized that she belonged to the Luo family.

"Thank you very much," she said hastily and glanced at Ryan, who had been silent the whole time.

Even when he heard that she was from the Luo family, he remained calm. His indifferent attitude convinced her that he was the same Ryan.

She got out of the car and walked into the villa with her luggage.

Ryan looked out of the car window at the frail figure walking away. There was a storm brewing in his eyes. The change in his expression was barely discernible but he looked inscrutable now.

Kevin, who was also staring at her receding figure, said, "She is a member of the Luo family? I have never seen her before. Ryan, did you meet her when you got engaged to Miss Luo?"

Ryan watched the woman walk into the Luo family's villa. When the door closed, he looked at the driver and said flatly, "Drive."

When Nancy entered the villa, the Luo family was having dinner. Three people were sitting at a long table, enjoying their meal in their luxurious living room.

Nancy had the key to the villa so she didn't need to ring the doorbell.

When she entered the room, Mandy Li, Jenny's mother, saw her, but there was no expression on her face. It looked like she had expected Nancy to return today.

"You're back?" Mandy Li touched her forehead and looked at Nancy with disgust and anxiety, but the anxiety soon dissipated.

Jenny's reaction was almost the same as her mother's.

"Oh? My sister is back," Jenny was stumped. She frowned and looked Nancy up and down. "So, you have been released? Three years have flown by so fast."

Jenny was really vicious. She was always cruel to Nancy and never left any opportunity to embarrass her.

Fortunately, she had an angelic face. As long as she disguised her wickedness, she could easily deceive people and make them believe that she was a kind, caring person.

Nancy didn't bother changing into her home slippers and marched in. She threw her luggage on the ground casually with a sneer.

"Dad, I'm back!" she announced triumphantly.

Her father, Joseph Luo, was the owner of the Luo Group. Nancy's late mother supported him through his toughest times when he was struggling to make a name for himself. After he achieved success and won recognition, he looked down upon his wife and forgot about everything that she had done for him. On the day the Luo Group went public, he divorced her, abandoned his children, and married Mandy Li, the daughter of a famous jewelry merchant in NC City.

Later, Nancy's mother died of a heart disease and Joseph Luo was so shameless that he didn't even visit her.

As for his children, Nancy and her brother Jerry Luo, Joseph Luo let Mandy Li deal with them. He never cared about them.

When Joseph Luo saw that Nancy had come back, he wrinkled his nose as if he had seen something dirty.

"Why didn't you tell your aunt before coming back? It's rude of you to show up unannounced like this!" Obviously, Joseph didn't want his daughter, who had been in prison, to taint his home.

Of course, Nancy read his mind but what could she do? She just smiled sadly.

"Dad, I've never heard that a daughter has to ask her family whether she can come home or not." She had no expression, and it was hard to tell her emotion from her tone.

"Home?" Mandy smirked derisively. "Nancy, don't you think you belong in hell along with your mother?"

Her words were venomous, but Joseph did nothing to stop her.

Nancy remained calm. She walked over to Jenny, pulled out a chair and sat down. Jenny shifted, trying to keep distance from her as if she were a ghost.

Nancy picked up some cutlery from the table and started eating with an indescribable smile on her face.

"Ms. Li, wasn't it you and Jenny, who sent me to prison in Montreal back then?" she asked with a smug smile and took a bite of the vegetable.

She hadn't eaten anything since she had got on the airplane. She was ravenous, but as soon as she entered the Luo family's villa, she lost her appetite.

"You deserved it. You had to pay for what you had done!" Jenny remarked sourly, turning to look at Nancy with a sneer.

"I deserved it? I wanted my child. Was I doing something wrong?" Nancy asked.

"Enough!" Joseph yelled, throwing away his chopsticks at the mention of the child.

Silence hung in the air, punctuated only by the sound of the chopsticks falling on the ground. Nancy was unfazed. She calmly took a sip of the water and put the glass on the table.

"Dad, I have only returned for my child." She looked at Joseph furiously.

She had known nothing about her baby for three years. She had no idea where the child was, and even whether or not she was alive.

Jenny's face darkened. She glanced at Nancy frostily and said, "You are dressed like a beggar and you still expect to get your child? You must be dreaming! You lost all rights to that girl after you gave birth to her."

Nancy wanted to retort, but she was too choked up to say anything for a moment.

"That child was taken away by Ryan," added Joseph. Nancy frowned at this.

She had always thought that after she was thrown in jail, Jenny and Ryan got married and would raise the child together. But it seemed that they didn't get married after all.
