Chapter 898
"What have you done to her?" yelled Xavier, bursting into the room followed by a large group of people.
When he saw the unconscious Yvette, who had a pained expression on her face, his gaze quickly turned icy, eyes narrowing terrifyingly.
Varian felt a chill run down his spine, looking at them with eyes full of wariness. "Who are you people?" he asked.
"People who want your life," replied Xavier, his gaze murderous and bone-chilling. How dare he lay a hand on Yvette? He absolutely wasn't going to let this man off! "What arrogance!" Varian scoffed in disdain.
But the next moment, he caught sight of the symbols on the guards behind Xavier, and his expression changed immediately.
To think that they were from the Dark Organization... Yvette actually had ties to the Dark Organization!
Theodore had been a step behind Xavier. When he entered the room in quick strides to see the sight of Yvette unconscious, his eyes immediately bulged with anger.
"If you dare touch a single hair on my student's head, I'll definitely make you pay a thousand times over!" he bellowed angrily, giving off a terrifying pressure despite his pale and sickly face.noveldrama
Varian's expression twisted, fear rising in his heart. The next second, a sly expression crossed his face as if he had thought of something.
He lifted the unconscious Yvette by her neck, harshly squeezing it as he threatened, "If any of you dare take a single step closer, I'll kill her!"
Xavier paled, and he cried out urgently, "Stop it!"
Seeing their worried expressions, Varian sneered smugly and continued to threaten, "Back off! All of you back off, or she dies today!"
If looks could kill, he would have already died a million times over.
Xavier's jaw tightened, murderous intent burning in his eyes, but he could only do as Varian said.
"Everyone step back!" he ordered through gritted teeth.
Varian was extremely pleased to see Xavier's concession. He laughed scornfully, saying, "You lot still can't beat me—"
But just as he got ahead of himself, letting his guard down, Xavier seized the opportunity to take out a gun and pull the trigger.
With a bang, a bullet lodged itself into Varian's arm, causing him to scream and let
go of Yvette. He almost fainted on the spot from the intense pain.
"Damn it!"
By the time he managed to fight back the pain and try to grab hold of his bargaining chip, Yvette, again, ther@was a line of gun barrels aimed neatly at his head.
If he made one wrong move against her, he would have his head blown off his shoulders.
Knowing that he had lost the advantage, he yelled at his men, all while enduring the pain in his arm, "Retreat!"
One of the black-clothed men behind him looked hesitant and conflicted, saying, "But the master ordered that this time, we have to capture Yvette..."
Before he could finish speaking, Varian cut him off roughly, "Shut up and retreat immediately!"
This place was still considered the Dark Organization territory, so their reinforcements would definitely
swift. If they didn't withdraw nowet
and waited until their reinforcements arrived, not only would they not be able to take Yvette away, they might not come out alive themselves!
"Yes, sir," the man answered after a pause.
When he saw Varian and his men making their escape, Xavier immediately turned
to command quietly, "Go after them!"
Then, he quickly rushed to Yvette's side.
"Yvie..."
The catalyst had
enhanced the
intensity of the side effects by a hundredfold, so even unconscious she was suffering great pain. Xavier's heart ached to see her in such pain, and he hated himself at the same time.
If only he had arrived just one step earlier!
In the depths of her unconsciousness, Yvette murmured, "Wilson..."
When she was at her most helpless, the name that came to her lips was Wilson's.
It spoke volumes of his importance to her.
What do you think?
