Chapter 8
Chapter 8
“Yeah, Phedra, we both did it,” Raizel said, “You can’t just stand there and watch the show.”
“Come on, Raizel. I’m no spring chicken anymore…”
Letitia immediately cut her off, “Look at that. Phedra doesn’t even want to lift a finger!”
While saying this, she secretly tried to wriggle out of the ropes.
Raizel thought Letitia had a point and handed a knife to Phedra. “Alright. You slash the left side, and I’ll handle the right.”
“Deal.” Phedra agreed, “You start cutting, I’ll hold her down so she doesn’t squirm!”
“Got it.”
The two were in perfect cahoots.
Letitia’s wrists were turning red, and the ropes showed no sign of loosening.
Phedra came over to pin her head down. “Don’t play tricks, and it’ll hurt less. This knife isn’t picky! Come on, Raizel, do
it!”
“You’ve got so smooth skin. No wonder you could charm Elgin. I’ll slash it up good today!”
Raizel approached with a wicked grin.
The knife drew closer and closer until it pressed against Letitia’s cheek, its icy chill sending shivers.
“Just a little pressure, and there goes your beauty…”
Letitia swallowed hard with anxiety. “You… you’re not afraid of Elgin?”
“With the Morris family backing me, he won’t hurt me.”
As Raizel was about to cut Letitia’s face, a deep and authoritative voice echoed from afar at that critical moment, “Stop right there!”
That voice sounded familiar!
Letitia’s spirits lifted, and she shouted with all her might, “Elgin, save me!”
The screech of tires on pavement sounded, and before the car had stopped, Elgin was already out and on the move
He came striding over, his suit tails flapping, his face filled with fury.
“The Morris family? What are they?” Elgin’s thin lips curled. “Tomorrow, I can make the whole Morris family vanish from AquaCity!”
“Dear Elgin… Ah!”
Elgin kicked Raizel aside without a glance. He went straight to Letitia and scooped her up. “Are you hurt?”
She shook her head. “No, that was close, though.”
“Why did you run off?” Elgin asked, “Can’t you just stay at the Ramirez Group?”
“…” She couldn’t say she was looking for a job when she ran into Phedra and Raizel.
Letitia chose to remain silent.
“Elgin, why, why are you here?” Phedra tried to smile. “I was just having a bit of fun with my daughter- in-law.”
Eigin’s eyebrow lifted. “Having a bit of fun?”
“Yeah
He picked up the knife from the ground and threw it at Phedra’s feet. “Now, carve up your face for fun.
‘What’
“Dear Elgin!” Raizel stamped her foot. “Why do you always take her side?”
“Because she’s my wife!” Elgin’s gaze was colder than any blade. “Should I defend you instead?”
Raizel looked at Letitia with envy all over her face. But Letitia had a bitter truth she couldn’t voice. Elgin was so livid because he was the only person who could bully and humiliate her.
Even if he hated and tormented her, he would never let anyone else lay a finger on her. It had to be him personally.
Elgin’s sweet nothings were just that. It was all empty words she neither took to heart nor dared to believe.
When she was lost in thought, Elgin had swept her off her feet, and Letitia gasped, instinctively wrapping her arms.
around his neck
Realizing the intimacy of the gesture, she quickly let go.
“You should be thankful that she’s not hurt, Elgin said expressionlessly and indifferently, “Raizel, I’ll discipline you on behalf of the Morris family! Go home to repent your sins. You’ll be grounded for a month! No stepping outside!”
“Phedral” He barked her name, “You can forget about your allowance for the year!”
To Phedra, this was a punishment worse than hell.
Having married Marcel and lived a life of luxury, she still received a hefty monthly allowance from the family fund even after his death.
Elgin cutting her off from one year’s money was cruel. She was used to living large, and how was she supposed to survive without the money?
“No way! That’s my money from your dad.”
“Two years!
“Elgin, you… you…”
Three years! You’re cut off for three years!”
When Elgin said something, he meant it.
Phedra and Raizel were really in for it at this time.
At Ivory Towers, the butler saw Letitia’s disheveled appearance, “Mrs. Ramirez, are you…”
“I’m alright, really. It looks worse than it actually is, but I promise I’m not hurt.”
Elgin sat on the sofa, loosening his tie. “Not hurt? What’s that on your palm then?”
Letitia was stunned. It turned out that he had noticed all along.

“What else are you good for besides causing me trouble? Elgin’s gaze bore down on her “I had to punish Phedra and Raizel because of you. Feeling proud, aren’t you?”
She quickly waved her hands. “I didn’t think that.
He scoffed, “Letitia, no one gets to touch your face. If it’s to get cut, it’ll be by me!”
Elgin’s eyes drifted to the fruit knife on the coffee table.
Letitia shrank back a little.
“What are you spacing out for? Can’t you take a hint?”
She had no choice but to hand him the knife with both hands, her voice low, “I didn’t do anything wrong today.”
Running off was your mistake.
Letitbit her lip, eyes cast down. In her world, his word was law

“Lett, see, once you leave my side there are so many people out to get you, Elgin tapped fier face gently with the ti of the knife. But with me, I’m the only one who gets to torment you.”
She kept her eyes tightly closed, not knowing when Elgin might strike.
Perhaps because she’d held back for too long or she would get disfigurement either way, Letitia talked back, “If anyone else bullies me, I can resist and fight back. But I can’t fight back against you!”
“Because you owe me!”
“No, I don’t owe you, nor does the Sanders family! Letitia screamed silently in her heart.
The knife pressed down bit by bit. With a little more force, it would cut through the skin.
“Ding The landline next to me started blowing up all of a sudden.
Elgin picked up the receiver “Grandpa.”
“Get your butt over to the Ramirez Mansion as fast as you can!” Hawley Ramirez bellowed over the line, “I mean right. now, this instant!”
“What’s up?”
“And bring your blushing bride with you!” Hawley hung up.
Elgin shot Letitia a knowing look.
She was all deer-in-the-headlights but trying her best to play it cool. It was pretty amusing.
“Consider yourself lucky Elgin teased her chin up with the tip of his knife. “Your pretty face? Let’s keep it intact for now. I don’t want to scare Grandpa with the blood.
Grandpa?
“Clean yourself up and go to the Ramirez Mansion with me.” Elgin sat back, legs crossed. “You’ve got five minutes.”
Letitia scrambled to her feet, dressed up, and did her hair as fast as lightning.
They arrived at the Ramirez Mansion.
Compared to the luxury and grandness of Ivory Towers, the Ramirez Mansion was all about the stately courtyard style with rolling hills, water features, and an old-world charm.
No sooner had they stepped into the living room than Phedra pointed at Letitia and screeched, “That’s right, Hawley. She’s here! She’s Dr. Sanders’ daughter! Can you believe it? Elgin has tied the knot with her!”
