Tangled Temptations

Chapter 18

Eloise took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check. She said to Orlena, "Stop hitting me up. Not everyone has to agree with your love life."

Orlena had always been the apple of everyone's eye, never having been turned down before. She kept pestering Eloise with questions, trying to understand why Eloise didn't like her.

And so, the two of them ended up in an alleyway. Eloise felt she couldn't shake off Orlena, so she turned around to try and chase her off, but the next moment she went wide-eyed.

Orlena was knocked down from behind.

"It's her, Max's fiancée."

"Grab her. Max would surely pay for her!"noveldrama

"There's another girl here. Take her too. She might be worth something as well."

Before Eloise could even cry out, everything went dark. Her head was covered with a sack, and her hands and feet were tied. Both of them were dragged into a van.

...

Eloise came to. She was in an abandoned warehouse, tied to a broken chair. Beside her, Orlena was also tied up, crying and cursing.

"Do you know who I am?"

"My brother will put you behind bars!"

"Let me go!"

...

A man who looked like a monkey was annoyed by her noise and slapped her. "Shut up! Or I'll tear your clothes."

Orlena cried even louder.

The man didn't dare to do anything to her, knowing full well that the Horigan family was not to be messed with, especially a lawyer named Harvey.

The man tossed a phone to Orlena, "Call your boyfriend. Tell him to prepare 2 million dollars, not a penny less! And tell him to come alone, no tricks, or we won't be so nice!"

Orlena was petrified. She took the phone, dialed Max's number through her tears. The Horigan family.

The atmosphere was tense. Orlena was kidnapped, and even the usually calm and elegant Pauline was worried.

Harvey, his father Parker, and Max were waiting for a call. Parker was dissatisfied. Those bastards kidnapped Orlena for Max's money, so he owed them an explanation.

After about two hours, Orlena's call finally came. She was crying so hard she could hardly breathe but managed to relay the man's demands.

Max gently consoled her. Orlena finally stopped crying on the other end of the line, even feeling a bit sweet inside. She knew Max loved her and wouldn't let her get hurt.

Just as the call was about to end, a woman's trembling voice came from the other side. "Don't touch me... don't touch me!"

Max's hand holding the phone twitched. He knew that voice all too well. It was Eloise!

Why was she with Orlena?

Thinking of those dirty hands possibly wandering over her, Max was filled with murderous intent! But when he looked up and saw the meaning in Harvey's eyes, he snapped back to reality.

Harvey was a very smart man; if Max exposed himself, all the relationships he had built up over a long time would be ruined.

Max knew what he had to do. He pretended not to know Eloise and said to the kidnapper on the other end of the line, "I'll bring the 2 million dollars. Don't touch my fiancée."

After saying that, he felt a bit dazed.

After hanging up, Max apologized to the two elders of the Horigan family, "This is all my fault, but please rest assured, I will bring Orlena back safely."

Parker nodded. He appreciated Max's approach.

Max drove off.

Only the people of the Horigan family were left in the villa, still troubled. Pauline was a bit relieved, she wiped her tears and said hesitantly, "I think I heard Ms. Laurent's voice just now, Harvey, did you hear it?"

Harvey had already picked up his car keys, and calmly said, "I'll check it out."
