Star’s POV

Looking through the medical records my father had brought with him, I have to admit that his story makes sense, and the photos show a couple in love, their faces show their hopes for the future.

Amanda clears the coffee cups and I rush to help her. Following Luna to the kitchen, I fill the sink to wash the dishes. “Luna, what do you think? Could he be telling the truth? Could she have been sick? You met her. Did she seem confused or paranoid?”

Amanda sighs, “I just don’t know sweetie, I have spent the last eighteen years hiding the truth of who you are, we didn’t know her before, so yes it could be true, while he was telling his story, Glory was restless in my head, but she won’t tell me what’s going on.”

That makes me curious, “Saffy, do you think Glory will talk to you? Don’t force her. Just see if you can get her to take on everything.”

She nods in my head and then retreats from my thoughts.

“I have asked Saffy to speak to Glory, see if she will be more open with another wolf,” Amanda nods. “I have heard of extreme experiences affecting the minds of new wolf/human pairings.”

“Her English improved so quickly. We all thought it was amazing, but what if she had already learnt it before?”

We wander back to the lounge; I feel so tired. Tonight has not turned out how I expected. All the extra training and the apprehension I have felt waiting to meet my father, I suddenly really need to snuggle with my mates and sleep for the next eight hours.

Liam stands as we enter the room. I can see the sadness in his eyes. He looks so tired.

Linking my boys. “I think we need to call it a night. I need to talk through everything with you. Do we offer them accommodation? I will want to talk to him tomorrow. If everything he says is true, then I have missed eighteen years with him.”

Ace stands and walks to me, pulling me into his arms, “I think my princess needs a break. Why don’t we sleep on everything and meet again in the morning? Alpha, you and your men are welcome to stay here if you would like to stay.”

Beta Campbell actually smiles for the first time, “that would be great, as long as Luna Star feels comfortable with us here, I know you must be confused about everything, as we are, but I know Liam would love the opportunity to get to know you all better.”

Liam smiles at Campbell and I am sure I see something more to their relationship than just Alpha and Beta, they must have seen my interest because Liam links his fingers with Campbell,“we fought our feelings for each other for a long time, we finally gave in and became chosen mates about five years ago, I hope that doesn’t shock you.”

I grin at him, “of course not, I am happy you have found someone to love, I know it has been hard on you, if I lost any of my boys I would be devastated, but to also lose a child, you must have been heartbroken, we have rooms made up in our suite, we will show you the way.”

As I turn to leave, Amanda stops us. She hands Liam several photo albums, “there are lots of pictures of Star in these. I thought you may like to see them. I can get copies of any you would like.”

Liam’s eyes fill with tears, “thank you Luna, and thank you for looking after my girl.”

We make our way to our suite, and I suddenly remember that our friends are waiting there for us. I turn to Lexi, but he just smiles and whispers, “they have gone home, baby.”

Thank God, I really don’t feel like going through everything again tonight.

We show Liam and his men to their rooms, and one of his warriors runs to get their bags from the car.

Ash shows them around the suite. “Please make yourselves at home, help yourselves to anything from the kitchen. Starlight, do you want some hot chocolate before bed? You drank so much coffee earlier.”

Giving him a k**s on the cheek I nod, “yes please honey, I would love that.” I wish our guests a good night and head to our room.

Lexi is already in the bathroom running us all a bath, so I flop onto our bed.

I feel Saffy pushing our link, “Star, Glory always thought there was something off with your mum’s wolf, she put it down to her powers, but now that she has met me she is sure that there was something wrong, she said it was like Haven, her wolf was in control more than Thalia, which is not right at all.”

Our wolves should never be in control like that, even if the wolf is exceptionally powerful, the human has the control, except in emergencies, like when we had to shift for the first time, that was to protect not overpower.

Everything is just so confusing.
