Chapter 6
Chapter 6
AFTER ending the call with Kaylee, Amber fixed her bed and went to the bathroom to take a bath. She
chooses a red blouse for her top and black leggings then a slip on for her footwear.
“Nana Mildred.” She called as soon as she entered the kitchen but was taken aback when she saw
Rafael brewing his own coffee. His wet hair and his after-shower scent indicates that he just took a
bath. “G-good morning.” She stammered greeting him.
“Morning.” He said casually. “Are you hungry? I’ll ask Nana Mildred to prepare our breakfast.”
“Sort of.” She answered as she drinks a glass of water.
“Go and make yourself comfortable in the dining room.” Rafael said. “I’ll be there in a second.”
Amber’s about to leave when Nana Mildred entered the kitchen.
“How is your sleep, hija?” She asked amber, smiling.
“It’s good, Nana, that’s why I overslept.” She answered.
“That’s great, you need plenty of sleep now that you’re pregnant.” She said. “Take a seat and I’ll just
prepare your breakfast. By the way, do you want milk?”
“I already made milk for her, Nana.” Rafael said who is now holding two mugs. He glanced at her. “Let’s
go to the dining room.” He said and he went out of the kitchen.
“Nana Mildred, when will the other helpers come?” She asked.
“I think they’re on their way now, hija.” Nana Mildred answered. “Sir Rafael is not strict so we just work
in our own pace, for him, the result of the work is more important.”
“Is that so…”
“You should go and follow Sir Rafael in the dining room. I will serve the food in a moment.” Nana
Mildred said; she just nods her head and went to the dining room; there she saw Rafael talking to
someone on the phone, she quietly took a seat.
“Did you prepare what I asked you to?” Rafael asked to the one he was talking to while staring at her.
“Okay, thank you, Gab.” He said and ended the line. “So, how was your first night here? Did you sleep
well?” Rafael asked her.
“Yes, thank you.” She answered as she took a sip on her milk. “And thank you for the milk.” She said
and he nods as an acknowledgement.
“By the way, Judge Marquez will be here after lunch.” Rafael said.
“Ah, yeah. Sir Gabriel mentioned it last night when they brought you here.” She said making him frown.
“Why are you still awake? Gab mentioned that it was past midnight when they brought me here.”
Rafael asked seriously.
“I-I was making milk because I can’t sleep.” She explained, his stern expression was replaced by a
calm one.
“Then it was you who changed my clothes last night…”
“Y..yes, you reek of alcohol so I wip…” she can’t help not to blush, just thinking about his naked body—
those abs and muscles, makes her gulp; and it seems that Rafael noticed her red cheeks because the
corner of his lips raised. “Anyway, can I go out this coming Saturday?” She diverted the subject, making
him frown again.
“Where are you going?” He seriously asked.
“Ehm, that day is Kaylee’s day-off…”
“We are supposed to go to Baguio on Saturday.” Rafael said making her upset, and curious what they
will do there. She was about to asked when Nana Mildred came.
Amber and Rafael were both silent as Nana Mildred serve the food.
“On the other hand, let’s just go to Baguio on Sunday.” Rafael said when Nana Mildred left them,
making Amber’s face light in delight.
“You’re not kidding?” Amber asked not believing what he just said, her red lips are smiling wide.
“Just take care of your self and don’t exhaust your self too much.”
“Yes! Thank you!” She happily stood up and hug Rafa. “Thank you so much, Rafa!”
“Is that how you show your gratitude?” Rafael asked, pulling her in his lap and wrapped his hands on
her waist.
“Rafa!” Amber’s eyes widened as he slowly closes the gap between them.
“This how you show your gratitude to your husband.” Rafael said and gave her a mind-blowing kiss.
“You…you’re still not my husband.” Amber said when the kiss ended. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“Soon, hon. Soon.” Rafael smirked. “We’re just counting hours and you are soon to be mine.” Rafael
said and captured her lips again. “You have the softest lips that I ever kissed.” He said when they
parted.
“Should I take it as a compliment or an insult?” Amber asked, raising her eyebrow. But Rafael didn’t
answer and stared at her beautiful face.
“Hey! I might melt.” Amber said, but Rafael just smiled. “Now, I know why there are many women
flocking over you.” She said and cupped his face. “If our baby is a boy, he will surely be your
doppelganger—a handsome man. But I hope he will not be like you who will make a lot of woman cry.”
“So, you’re saying that I’m handsome?” Rafa smirked.
“I don’t remember saying that you’re not good looking.” She said making him laugh and his laughter is
like a music to her ears. “You know, if our baby turns out to be a girl. I’m sure she will not get anything
from me. She will surely inherit your looks.”
“And why are you saying that?” Rafa asked.
“You have a strong gene!” Amber said and slightly smack his shoulder. “I saw your family portrait in the
living room and I notice that you’re just the exact doppelganger of your father and it seems that you
didn’t get anything from your mother.” She said making Rafael laugh.
“You’re wrong on that part, hon.” Rafael said.
Hon… That sounds like music to her ears.
“I did get something from my mother…” Rafael said and sighed, making her arc her eyebrow. “We both
don’t know how to cook.” Rafael said making her speechless.
“You?” She uttered in disbelief. “You own one of the prestigious restaurants in the country and you
don’t know how to cook?”
“Uh-huh.” He said in delight. “I don’t know how to cook but I enjoy eating. Now that I think about it, I just
started the restaurant business without an absolute plan. It didn’t come to mind that it will be
successful.”
“Did you not learn how to cook?” Amber asked.
“I tried but it seems that cooking is not my thing.” He smiled. “I nearly burned my parent’s house.” He
said making her laugh.
“Oh boy! I hope our baby will not be like you.” Amber said shaking her head. “But whoever our baby
inherits, the important thing is that he or she will not experience the same hardships I’ve gone through.”
Amber said and bitterly smiled while caressing her stomach.
Rafael on the other hand seemed confused on her actions and the words she uttered. What does she
mean hardships? Is she just pretending? Why does it seem that the woman in front of her now is
different from the woman he confronted at the hospital—the one who heartlessly threatened him to
abort the baby if he will not agree to her terms.
“Let’s eat.” Amber said. “The food might get cold.” She while getting up, she took the seat adjacent to
him. She even took the initiative to put food in his plate. “Is that enough?” She asked; he frowned when
he noticed the food, how come he didn’t notice it when Nana Mildred is serving the food?
“That’s enough. Did you request for this?” He asked.
“Yes.” Amber said while putting food on her plate. “Nana Mildred asked me last night what do I want to
eat since you only had pancakes for breakfast.” She added. “And I’ve been craving for pork adobo with
lots of pineapple.”
“Okay…” His eyes wandered around the table. “so, where is my pancakes?”
“I told Nana Mildred not to make some, you need to eat proper breakfast.” Amber said and looks at
him. “Let’s pray then we can eat.” Amber said and closed her eyes, and started to pray. Rafael closed
his eyes too, listening to Amber.
“Hmmnn… Nana Mildred is a good cook.” Amber said, smiling. “It made miss my mother’s cooking.”
“Why? Where is your mother?” He asked; he’s curious why Amber is living on her own in a rundown
apartment like that with no things.
“My parents are dead.” She bitterly smiled.
“Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” He quickly apologized.
“It’s okay.” She said. “We didn’t even know each other until recently and now we’re getting married.”
She said softly, making him unable to hear.
“Are you saying something?” Rafael asked frowning.
“None.” She quickly answered, and put a slice of pork on his plate. “Just eat, Nana Mildred cooked it
deliciously.”
