Chapter 61
Missed. Move. Kiss Cam
CENRIC
So, she visited her doctor, and it exhilarated me. I wished she was pregnant, and I found the reason to shorten the space she asked.
“That’s not what I’m asking.” She looked irritated that I cut her sabbatical shit short.
“That’s the only answer you get. How’s your visit?”
Her cheeks burned. She glared at Devin.
“I know what you did, and I will know wherever you go, babe.”
“Great. Then there’s no reason for you to be here.” She took a seat on the single sofa.
I smiled sweetly. God, I missed her. I wanted to pull her into my arms, kiss her, and show her how she drove me insane alone in our home.
She should be with me every night. I missed her in my arms. I missed her lips around me, her hands all over me, and fuck, I missed being inside her.
“It looks good on you.” She was wearing the tennis bracelet I gave to her. I was so stupid that I didn’t buy her anything except the bags. I had to woo someone I knew from the boutique. Apparently, there was a long line of a waiting lists. I worked hard for her and us, and she deserved pampering. She was my wife, after all.
“I wear it because I like it.”
“And the bag?”
She hid her smile. I knew she liked it. The first one I bought for her, she kept staring at it like a piece of timeless jewel.
“Anyway, I’m staying here. We have a game to watch tomorrow.” I took off my suit jacket and hung it on the chair.
“I didn’t agree on this, Cenric.”
My brow cocked. “Really? Because as far as I know, you did this for yourself. You didn’t even ask my opinion regarding your little in need of space bullshit.” I quoted in the air. “And if I said I stay, I stay.”
She stomped away. Whether she liked it or not, I was staying.
After our dinner, she retreated to the room. It was a relief that she was still sleeping in our bed.
She came to bed wearing my shirt. A small smile spread across my lips. It had been a while since I smiled, and it was fucking awesome.
The guys just shook their heads if I yelled at them. They blamed me for my falling out with Sadie. It wasn’t exactly falling out. It was mutual understanding that we stayed away from each other for a while. Though I wasn’t in for this, I still had to accept her wishes.
“This is not exactly what I expected to come home to you,” I said honestly.
“We’re not done with giving spaces with each other.”
“I know, babe. We don’t have to talk about anything. Just acknowledge that I am here. That’s all. Tell me about your visit.”
I could feel her rolling her eyes even if she gave me her back. “We don’t have to talk about anything, huh?”
I simpered. “I guess we do have to have a little conversation.”
“I’m not pregnant.”
“I see.”
She must have noticed my reaction as she turned her head with her brows met. “When I’m stressed, my period messes with me.”
“But are you okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Congrats on the new project.”
“There are no secrets in the office, are there?”
“The perks of owning a company. I didn’t have to know the full details, but being a husband to the PrimerTech CEO, I get to know everything.”
“Have you heard anything about my brother?”
I grabbed my phone. “I received a file from my contacts. This voice message is for you.” I played it for her.
“Hey, sis. I guess you already know what happened to our father. I’m sorry that I couldn’t talk to you before I left. It just happened so fast. I just wanted to apologize for what I put you through sincerely. I was just jealous that you could do everything you wanted and that you didn’t have to carry the burden of being the only son in the family. Still, you didn’t deserve everything that happened to you. I hope one of these days. You can learn to forgive me.” I paused the recording when Sadie sniffed beside me.
“Are you okay?”
She nodded. “Just play it.”
I pressed the play button. “Cenric is a good guy. I wouldn’t be here if not for him. He gave me a chance to start a new life. I know you are in good hands, sis. He cares about you so much. Take care of each other. You know, in my own stupid and asshole way, I love you.”
I put the phone away. “Come here, babe.” Surprisingly, she did not resist.
“He’s okay.”
“He is, and he’s going to be safe there. When things get back to normal, I will take you there.” I pulled her into my arms. I pressed my nose into her hair and inhaled her smell. She smelled like fresh flowers in summer.
“Why did you give him a chance after what he almost did to your game?”
I kissed her head. “I don’t want you to hate me. I can’t forgive myself if you do that. I can’t look at you in the eye if something’s happened to him.”
“Why do you have to be so kind to me?”
“That’s what a loyal husband would do.”
She sighed in my arms. “Thank you.”
“Anything for you, babe.”
“I still don’t like the idea of you being here.”
“I guess you have to suck it up because I’m not going anywhere. Babe.”
“What?”
“I have something to tell you?”
“Did you cheat on me already?”
“Fuck no. Remember our first night in GoldenEye?”
“Yeah.”
“How did you fall asleep easily?”
She turned to face me. “What did you do? Did you drug me?” Her tone was accusatory, but she was right though.
She was waiting for my answer as I thought about how to break it to her. “Cenric?”
“I implanted you with a tracker chip.”
“What the hell?” She was quicker in her seat. Her eyes grew big. “Where? How did I not feel anything?” She rubbed her arms, her neck. “Take this thing off of me, Cenric!”
It was fun to watch her like the old Sadie I knew. I held her hand. “Relax. It’s for your own protection.”
“It’s a violation, you dumbass!”

Sadie was still guarded even if we spent the night together in bed. No sex, but I still slept like a baby last night, the longest and most peaceful night since our disagreements.
I knew she would be happy when Becka joined us to watch the game today.
She was beside me on the bench while Becka was on her right. I let them catch up. I knew they had a lot to talk about, so I focused on the game.
My team was leading two points so far, but anything could happen during the game.
“So, you two are okay?”
I looked at Beck. “We’re watching the game. I know you are trying to distract me because my team is gonna—” Fuck!
The crowd roared. The opposing team just made a goal, advancing them by three points.
“You’re saying?” Beck was grinning like an idiot.
“The night is still early.”
My wife just burst out laughing, catching my attention.
I whispered, “Care to share?”
She was still smiling when she turned to me. “No.”
“Are you sure? I’ll find it out anyway.”
She giggled, looked into my eyes, and shook her head. “It’s for girls only.”
“I see.”
“Just watch the game.”
“I’d rather watch you, babe.” Gasp and applaud around us erupted. My guys just burst out laughing while I was still finding out the cause of the ruckus all about.
“Crap. Kiss cam,” Sadie muttered, her eyes glued at the screen.
“What the hell?” I muttered.
“Come on. Just kiss already. Then we can go back to watching the game,” Linden remarked.
I looked at my wife, still in shock. “Babe, just trust me on this, okay?”
“Do I have a choice? Of all the people, why us?”
I leaned in and closed my eyes before I kissed her. I was more surprised when she kissed me back. It felt familiar, but God, I still missed the feeling.
Finally, it was over. The light was pulled away from us, and I was perplexed about what had just happened.
“You did not set me up so that you can kiss me, did you?”
I smiled at her. “As much I wanted to show the world that I wanted to kiss my wife on national tv, I’d rather kiss you passionately in private.”
“Me too.”
“Me too, you want to kiss me?”
She rolled her eyes. “We’re still in need of space agreement.”
“I don’t think so.” I looked at her hand on my thigh. “Admit that you miss me.”This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“No can do.”
“Come on, babe. You know I missed you so much it hurts.”
“I know what you missed the most.” Her smile was wicked. She was playing a game here.
“I bet you do.” I leaned in to whisper, “If you keep smiling like that, you’re gonna give me a hard-on.”
