Chapter 412
Chapter 412
11-2
Daisy just blurted out something but on the other end of the line, Allison seemed to fall silent. “Hello,
hello, Allie, you still there?”
Allison had cut her finger, and she was staring at the fresh blood on her fingertip. After the sharp and
brief pain, she turned on the tap, rinsed her hand under the running water, but all she could think of
was what Daisy had said.
That sentence seemed to make sense of her chaotic thoughts. Did Penelope orchestrate this herself?
The people who were able to get their hands on it at the charity gala were pretty much no one else but
people from The Lindberg family. Miranda hosted a charity gala every year, always at the same seven–
star hotel. The security system was top–notch; the guests were all socialites who had attended the gala
before. The chance of an outsider doing this was very low.
Either it was an internal dispute within the Lindberg family, or Penelope was pulling the strings. But if it
really was Penelope pulling the strings, why?
Penelope was so looking forward to this baby, she was already nine months pregnant. She and
Penelope had grown up together, she knew what kind of person Penelope was. Penelope would never
push Miranda away out of kindness.
Then for what reason? There seemed to be only one answer. The child in Penelope’s belly was not
Lucian’s.
The cold water wrapped around her finger, driving away the pain. Allison picked up her phone, “I’m
listening.”
Daisy chatted with her about a lot of things, mostly trivial life stuff.
Allison frowned, “You’re getting married to that guy next week? Isn’t that a bit rushed?”
Daisy, “I have no choice. The weak can’t fight the strong. My family’s business is doing well, but they
are the leader in the jewelry industry. If Santos Inc’s jewelry wants to grow, we can’t offend the
Boswells. I’ve come to terms with it. I can’t hide, can’t resist, and can’t ruin Santos Inc. just because I
don’t like it. It’s my parents‘ life’s work.”
She had been well protected by her parents for 22 years, living a worry–free life. Now when they
needed her, she would not hide. People had to grow up. Marrying into the Boswell family might not be
bad.
Daisy optimistically said, “Everyone says the Boswell family’s son is in poor health, right? I’ll just try to
live a healthy and long life. After he passes away, I’ll be okay.”
This marriage, to put it nicely, was a union between the Boswell family and the Santos family. To put it
bluntly, it was just to bring good luck to the Boswell family.
Daisy seemed afraid of Allison comforting her, and said, “I’m okay. Are you free these days? Let’s go
shopping before I get married. It’s been a long time since we hung out together.”
“I’m free these days.” Allison heard the sound of a car engine outside the door, followed by Lucky’s
barking. It must be Lucian coming back. She said, “Daisy, I have to go now, my… my coworker is
here.”
She hung up the phone and went outside. Lucían got out of the car and went inside, with Lucky
excitedly circling around him. The man bent down, with a rare smile in his eyes, “Are you hungry? Can’t
you find some snacks to eat?”
Lucky wagged its tail and barked a few times. The man asked, “Why are you so excited today?” He
walked into the living room and saw Allison coming out of the kitchen. There was a few seconds of
surprise in the his eyes. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Allison walked over and said, “I came over half an hour ago. You weren’t home, but Lucky was smart
enough to open the door for me. I realized you weren’t home when I saw the door was open.”
“Uh–huh.” The man took off his suit, and Allison took it from him. He smelled the aroma of food in the
air.
Allison said, “Play with Lucky for a bit. Dinner will be ready soon.”
Allison went back to the kitchen. Lucian played with Lucky for a few minutes outside, then he went to
the kitchen, watching the woman in a light blue apron cooking. The kitchen was filled with the smell of
food, and the light was bright and warm. His home rarely had such a warm atmosphere.
Lucian felt a bit uncomfortable at first, but he enjoyed this feeling.
