Chapter 425
Chapter 425
Penelope whipped out her phone, spotting several unread messages on WhatsApp from a friend she’d Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
once had a meal with, messages she’d missed while sleeping.
She tapped the messages open.
“Penelope, remember me, Alice? We’d gone to the hot springs together. I was at a friend’s birthday
dinner today and saw Lucian eating with a woman named Allison.”
Penelope froze. What? Lucian was having a meal with Allison? Allison had the nerve to approach
Lucian again when she was not feeling well!
Penelope replied, “Alice, of course I remember you. I just woke up, let’s hang out next time. Allison is a
maid at my place, and she has met Lucian before. Maybe they just bumped into each other.”
Although Penelope knew in her heart it was more than just a chance encounter, she had to play it off as
a coincidence.
Soon, Alice replied. “Penelope, I didn’t expect you to remember me.”
Penelope didn’t have the time or energy to chat with Alice, but she had to make polite convèrsation.
Alice said, “Then I might have misunderstood. When I first saw Allison, I thought she was you. Turns
out she’s your maid.”
“Yes, she’s worked at my place for many years, we’ve treated her well.”
Alice said, “I thought she was your sister.”
Penelope asked, “When did she have a meal with Lucian?”
“Just tonight, at a friend’s birthday. We happened to be at the same restaurant.”
11 PM.
Penelope didn’t have Grace’s number saved, so she called Margo to get it.
She sent a message to Grace. “Grace, it’s Penelope. Are you free tomorrow? Can you come see me?
I’m at the city hospital, 16th floor,
room 7.”
Grace was Allison’s mom. If Penelope could control Grace, Allison would toe the line. Penelope knew
Grace had always treated her well.
So she decided to start with Grace.
The next morning, Grace arrived at the hospital. She’d wanted to visit Penelope but the security at the
ward door was tight. She couldn’t get close.
Now that Penelope was awake, she felt relieved. She didn’t expect Penelope to reach out to her.
With a mix of excitement and nervousness, she approached the hospital room. Margo glanced at her
and said, “Come in.”
Back in the Flanagan family days, Grace was the housekeeper, and Margo was her assistant. Margo’s
least favorite people were Grace and Allison.
Grace stepped forward, “Margo.”
Margo scoffed. As she was about to give Grace a piece of her mind, Penelope’s voice came from
inside the room, “Is Grace here?”
Margo swallowed her words. “Yes, Ms. Flanagan.”
She looked at Grace, “Go in, Ms. Flanagan is waiting for you.”
As Grace entered, Margo shut the door and leaned in trying to eavesdrop on the conversation. Margo
was puzzled. What was up with Ms. Flanagan? Why was she suddenly so respectful towards Grace?
