Chapter 463
Chapter 463
The two only met for a brief second before Dr. Dylan was off into the patient’s room, without even
having the chance to say hello. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Allison stood outside, leaning against the hospital wall with her eyes closed. Even though it was
already night, the hospital was still bustling with activity.
Doctors, nurses, and patients were coming and going. A nurse recognized Allison and asked, “Allison,
is it your mom who’s not feeling well?”
“Mhm.” Allison knew this nurse, but at the moment, she just wasn’t in the mood for a chat. What
happened tonight was beyond Allison’s expectations, and she still couldn’t calm her emotions.
She leaned against the hospital corridor, which seemed to give off a white glow. The busy people
became silhouettes against the light. They continuously moved back and forth in front of her, and
Allison felt her vision fade to black.
A familiar nurse shouted her name, “Allison-” Then, she found herself collapsing into a broad, warm
chest. Dr. Dylan had just walked out of the patient’s room and caught her before she hit the ground.
“Allison, Allison, what’s wrong?”
Dr. Dylan’s voice grew more and more distant until she completely blacked out…
When Allison opened her eyes, she was met with a white ceiling. A strong smell of disinfectant filled the
room, mixed with a faint, familiar scent. She sat up and found herself on a narrow bed, covered with a
man’s jacket.
Looking around, she realized she was in the lounge of Dr. Dylan’s office. A screen separated the
lounge from Dr. Dylan’s desk.
This must have been the nephrology ward.
Allison sat up, feeling a bit dizzy. She checked her phone and was surprised to see it was already 9
PM.
She walked around the screen and saw her mother, Grace’s medical file, on Dr. Dylan’s desk. His
phone was there, but he was nowhere to be found. Allison glanced through the file before deciding to
leave. Just then, a female nurse walked in.
Allison recognized her from her mother’s previous stays at the hospital. The nurse also remembered
Allison. “Dr. Dylan had to attend to an emergency. He’ll be back soon. Your mom’s in room 06, bed 3.
She’s asleep now and should be fine, but we’re keeping her for a few days of observation.”
Allison nodded and then headed to the patient’s room. Grace was already asleep, sharing the room
with another patient, an older woman who was watching TV
with the volume down.
Seeing Allison, the elderly woman seemed worried that the TV might have been disturbing others and
motioned for her granddaughter to turn it off. Allison smiled and said it was alright. Every patient here
had their own ailments and pain, so watching some TV was their way to find a bit of happiness.
Everyone was struggling with their health; they didn’t need to give up their little joys for others,
especially since the TV wasn’t loud.
Allison stood by Grace’s bed, looking down at the woman lying there. How did things end up like this?
She knew she wasn’t Grace and Joshua’s biological child and thought that she was just someone
Grace picked up on the streets, or maybe she was the illegitimate child of Grace and Christopher. She
couldn’t stand Christopher’s hypocrisy.
Allison had considered all these possibilities. But never did she imagine that she was the biological
daughter of Leah and Christopher, and that Penelope was actually Grace and Christopher’s daughter.
Now she didn’t know how to face Grace. Even though Grace was her mother, she also indirectly
caused her life to fall apart.
