Chapter 1415
Feeling more speechless than angry, Dorothy navigated the emotionally charged situation with a calm that surprised even herself.
"Range Rover? Really?" Everett raised an eyebrow, repeating the brand with a hint of disbelief.
Dorothy managed a tight smile, nodding. "Yes, a Range Rover Sport, over a hundred grand." Everett couldn't hide his bafflement. "You've got to be kidding me."
"Doesn't it just sound ridiculous?" Dorothy felt a surge of relief with Everett by her side, mainly because she feared the woman might lash out in her agitated state. Taking a deep breath, she turned to address the couple, "Ma'am, I can assure you, your husband's Range Rover doesn't impress me in the least."
The wife, ready to retort, was cut off by Dorothy who took the opportunity to link arms with Everett, offering a smile. "Seeing your condition, it's clear you're nearly due. I won't stoop to arguing with you. Woman to woman, I'd rather not make your day harder, but please, show some respect to others."
The woman was speechless.
Dorothy then gestured to Everett.
He raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"
"Honey, show her your car key, so she knows I'm not easily dazzled by a simple Range Rover Sport."
With a slight smirk, Everett slowly produced a Mercedes-Maybach key fob.
Dorothy flaunted it with a smirk, "Can we go now? My husband and I have an ultrasound appointment to catch." The husband, mortified, kept apologizing, "I'm so sorry for the trouble. Really, I am!"
Dorothy merely nodded, then pulled Everett away.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
It wasn't until they reached the ultrasound clinic that they dared to look at each other and burst into laughter.
"Everett, have you ever had to prove your worth with a car key before? Such a childish display!" Dorothy chuckled.
"It's certainly an experience to remember," he laughed, but then his tone turned serious as he faced Dorothy. "Tell me honestly, did she hurt you?"
"Not at all! I was careful, especially because of the baby. She was all talk."
"That's good to hear."
Holding his hand, Dorothy reassured him, "Let's just consider this an odd incident. No need to stay angry or hold a grudge. Pregnant women can be emotionally unstable; I
understand that."
Everett snorted, "She's just lucky she didn't lay a hand on you."
"And what would you have done if she had? She's pregnant, after all."
"Don't overestimate my patience, Dorothy."
Everett's stern tone startled Dorothy a bit.
She quickly waved it off, "I was just talking nonsense. The woman didn't actually do anything. Look, I'm not even upset."
Though Dorothy tried to remain
calm, the thought of a wife, heavily pregnant and about to give birth, dealing with her husband's infidelity made her empathize with the woman's desperation.
Seeing Dorothy so talkative, Everett decided not to pursue the matter further? However, he made a mental
note to prevent such incidental
future.

"I'll have a word with the hospital director. It's better if she doesn't share the same hospital as you."
"But she's nearly due, isn't switching hospitals a bit harsh?"
"I'm already being generous by not taking this further. Her baseless accusations deserve some form of repercussion."
