Sean squinted and silently praised Charles. Lately, Charles had really been turning on the charm. He was even flirting with Noelle right in front of

veryone. He faked a couple of coughs and tapped on the table. ”

Hey, you two, keep it classy!”

Charles smirked. “Oh? Got a problem with it?”

Sean made a face. “Nah, that’s not it. But I’ve got something cool to show you!” Sean tried to sit next to Charles and casually put his arm around him, but Charles brushed him off and gave him an icy look. Sean awkwardly dropped his arm and laughed it off. “Oops, my bad. I forgot!”

At the table sat some pretty impressive people, and everyone was eager to meet someone as important as Charles. However, Charles had a way of making it clear he was not too keen on meeting new people. After seeing how Charles reacted to Sean, nobody felt brave enough to go up to him. They just watched from afar.

Noelle was chatting with Samuel and Sebastian. The two older men did not seem to care much for the party. They had a few bites to eat and then lost interest. “Noelle, if you’re bored, you can head home. Your Grandpa and I are about to leave!” Sebastian told her.

“Leaving now?” Noelle looked around. The party was still in full swing, and hardly anyone had left. However, she thought about how old her Grandpa and Granddad were and nodded. “Do you want

me and Charles to walk you out?”

“No need!” Sebastian quickly said no. “I’ll just talk to your Grandpa and get some fresh air. It’s too crowded here!”

Noelle was about to say more, but Charles gave her a look that made her stop. “Just be careful, Grandpa, Granddad!”

“Don’t worry, we’ve got the driver. We’ll just say bye to your folks and then head out,” Sebastian reassured her.

Noelle watched the two of them leave and then sat back down. However, when Samuel and Sebastian were gone, the table felt a lot emptier.

Noelle felt a little awkward and touched her nose. Charles saw that and said with an easy smile, “Your friends can come over too!”

“Really?” Noelle asked, and then she giggled. “I’ll call them over!”

She quickly sent a message to Rowena and Teresa, telling them to join her. They were relieved to leave their own table, where they felt out of place. Everyone there was a classmate from long ago, but with everyone having different jobs, they did not have much to talk about.

Rowena and Teresa were tired of trying to fit in. They were just about to leave when Noelle’s message popped up. They hurried over, trying to look

cool. “Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Smith,” Teresa said politely. Rowena almost called him ‘brother–in–law‘ but stopped herself just in time. She sat down and whispered to Noelle, “Do you think we’re making it too obvious by coming over here?”

“It’s all good!” Noelle reassured her. “You’re my friends, and I invited you.” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Rowena giggled and turned to Sean. “So, Mr. Smith, what brings you here?”

Sean grinned. “Why can’t I be here? Everyone’s welcome!”
