Chapter 356
Chapter 356
After dinner, while Ronan was downstairs entertaining the kid, Cordelia returned to their room alone.
She booted up her laptop and started searching for job openings at Lumos Enterprises. And sure
enough, she found some.
Lumos Enterprises was a large corporation. Its official website and various job posting platforms were
brimming with recruitment announcements. This year, the Audit Department was hiring ten
accountants. The requirements included a postgraduate degree or higher, at least ten years of work
experience, a CPA license, and experience in large-scale project auditing.
Cordelia's heart sank. When she first applied to the Audit Department for Wyatt, she was new and full
of hope. At the time, she didn't have her CPA license and was only hoping for an assistant's position.
Now, with the Olen couple at home, Cordelia was feeling pretty uncomfortable. She wanted to seize
this opportunity to move to the States.
Throughout the evening, Cordelia was noticeably distracted. So much so that when Ronan returned to
the room and saw her sitting there, seemingly lost in thought, he couldn't help but ask, "What's got you
so deep in your head? Who's on your mind?"
"You, of course," Cordelia replied casually.
"Me?" Ronan's lips curled in amusement. Clearly, he didn't believe her.
"Who else could I possibly be thinking about?"
Ronan sat down beside Cordelia, planting a kiss on her cheek. "Are you thinking about me or a certain
part of me?"
Ronan always had a way with words that could make Cordelia blush. He never seemed to hold back. If
anything, he seemed to enjoy her reactions.
"That part!" Cordelia's hand reached for Ronan. "I want to squeeze it until it's pulp!"
Ronan whispered in her ear, "If it's pulp, it won't work anymore. I mean, it won't make us childless, but it
would be a pity for you!"
Cordelia swiftly stepped on his foot. "Get lost!"
The next afternoon, Cordelia was standing in front of the full-length mirror, examining her reflection.
She was dressed in a black, strapless dress that could be worn as a cocktail dress or just a regular
outfit without standing out. She had even applied a light layer of makeup.
Ronan was lounging on the couch behind her, one leg crossed over the other, scrutinizing her with a
thoughtful expression. "Is this okay?" She asked Ronan.
"Do you need to dress up like this to go out with Brooklyn?" There was a hint of displeasure in Ronan's
eyes.
"I'm not dressing up for her."
"Then who are you dressing up for?" Ronan pressed.
"I'm not dressing up for anyone. I just want to look nice and change my mood. I'm leaving." With that,
Cordelia grabbed her bag and headed out.
Perhaps Cordelia had been feeling cooped up at home since she wasn't working and needed some
fresh air.
On her way out, she bumped into Amanda, who was holding Callum, and Olen, who was coming out of
the back room. Cordelia greeted her mother-in-law and then she was out the door.
Seeing Ronan coming down the stairs, Amanda asked, "Ronan, is Cordelia going out?"
"Yes," Ronan confirmed.
Amanda nodded and said nothing more.
Cordelia first went to the post office to send Samantha the pearl necklace. She remembered Sienna Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
mentioning that they were still living in the house that had caught fire. The insurance company had
compensated the landlord generously, who in turn had reduced Samantha's rent.
After mailing the package, she picked up Brooklyn from her dorm at Lumos Enterprises. They caught a
cab and sped towards Cityscape Plaza.
"Cordelia, I heard from Edwin that Mr. Evans' parents are staying with you guys. Are you okay? A lot of
women get postpartum depression in these situations. Plus, there's the matter with your mom. When
are they leaving?" Brooklyn asked, venting her frustration over Ronan's actions.
"I don't know. My mother-in-law is very diligent. I just can’t speak harshly to her. And Ronan, as their
son, can't say anything either. They just had a grandchild, so it wouldn't be right to not let them see him
and ask them to leave," Cordelia replied. "We're going to a film company's dinner party today. See if
you can get Edwin's game embedded in their movies. I think it's a long shot, but we'll see."
Brooklyn nodded solemnly.
