Chapter 428
Chapter 428
Just now, Callum mentioned he wasn't feeling well, hoping that that lady would come and take care of
him. However, no matter what Callum said, his dad wouldn't allow it.
But Callum thought that that lady was beautiful and warm. He wanted her to be his mom, giving his
father another chance. His father wouldn't budge, though. Staying in Birchwood was Callum's
insistence, and this time, his father wasn’t so resistant.
Harold didn’t eat dinner at home. After he left, Callum kept asking for that lady to come and accompany
him.
“You want a stranger to accompany you. How is that appropriate?” Ronan scolded.
“Liar! Daddy, you’re lying! Don’t you know that liars have long noses? If she’s a stranger, why did she
come to Great-grandpa’s doorstep? She must have known us before. I want her to come. If not she
doesn’t, I won't sleep!" Callum was crafty. He knew that that girl was definitely not a stranger.
"You can call her yourself!" After saying this, Ronan threw his phone to Callum.
"What's her number?" Callum looked through his father's contact list but couldn't find the “aunt’s”
number.
Ronan seemed to be reading a book carelessly, but he recited this string of numbers fluently.
"And you said you weren't interested in her!" Callum muttered.
As Callum dialed the number, Cordelia was in the study, sending a message on Messenger.
Cordelia was sending a message on Messenger to Sally and Sean, asking them to wait for her in the
graduate office of the finance department tomorrow morning. She was allocating research tasks.
Before she could send the message, a call from Ronan came in.
Cordelia guessed it was probably Callum.
Some blood ties couldn’t be blocked, like Callum's affection for her.
As soon as the call connected, it was indeed Callum. Just as the call connected, Callum started crying.
It made Cordelia's heart flutter. "What's wrong, Callum? Don't cry." Cordelia spoke to Callum gently.
"I have a cold. I really want you to come and be with me. Can you stay with me tonight?"
Hearing that Callum had a cold, Cordelia's heart almost broke. She asked, "What about your dad, what
did your dad say?"
"Dad agreed."
"Then I'll come over now."
After hanging up the phone, Cordelia quickly sent the message to Sally and Sean on Messenger. She
packed her change of clothes and toiletries and went to her grandfather's house. On the way, she was
nervous, fearing that Alana was watching her again.
If what happened three years ago happened again, why did she leave for three years?
It wasn't far to walk from Birchwood College to her grandfather's house, and Cordelia arrived quickly.
Ronan opened the door.
"It... it was Callum who called me. He said he had a cold, and asked me to come and spend time with
him," Cordelia explained in detail, fearing that Ronan would not believe her and accuse her of being
"presumptuous."
Now, she had returned with her studies completed and wanted her son back. How could there be such
a good deal?
Ronan, not bothering to reply, let her in immediately.
When Callum saw Cordelia, he was especially pleased. His small hand held Cordelia's big hand, and
they sat on the sofa.
He was a child, but he had no mother, and his father never talked about his mother. There was always
a lack of women in the house, so Callum cherished Cordelia.
"We had an appointment last time. Why didn't you show up?" Callum was still holding a grudge about
Cordelia's "failure to show up" last time.
"Last time?" Cordelia frowned slightly. Only then did she remember that because Harold was lighting
candles downstairs in her building, she had forgotten to call Callum back.
"I forgot. Can you forgive me?" Cordelia said to Callum. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
"Then you can't forget next time. Let's make a promise."
Seeing how serious Callum was, Cordelia couldn't help but smile. He was a child, even naive than
Harold.
"Callum, you go and wash up. I have something to say to her." Ronan said.
Hearing this, Cordelia felt a chill run down her spine.
