Interested in Iris
Adolphus put on the waistcoat and buttoned it up. He was feeling happy today. When Iris told him that she wanted to remain by his side, a foreign feeling engulfed him which only delighted him.
Anthony placed the shoes in front of him and Adolphus put them on.
“Is Radulf ready?” Adolphus asked.
“He is, Your Excellency,” Anthony replied.
“I will be late today. Don’t let Iris get bullied,” Adolphus instructed him before leaving the chamber.
Radulf bowed to seeing Adolphus and said, “The Crown Prince looks happy today.”
“Yes, I am feeling good after a long time. Did you bring what I had told you to carry?” Adolphus asked. Radulf nodded at him and asked the Crown Prince to enter the carriage. Adolphus stepped in and Radulf went in after him.
Anthony closed the door and took a step back. He lowered his head and stood until the carriage left his sight. He returned to the manor and got it cleaned by the servants.
In the carriage, Adolphus took the map from Radulf and opened it. He studied it well and the entire map soon was imprinted on his head.
“Can I ask a question from the Crown Prince?” Radulf asked, who was seated across from Adolphus. He allowed him while his eyes were on the map.
“Why did His Excellency appoint a human to his service?” Radulf queried.
Adolphus lifted his eyes from the map and looked at him.
“I can see the Crown Prince is interested in Iris,” Radulf said with an amusing smirk.
Adolphus admitted it and asked Radulf why he was interested in that.
“Because it’s intriguing to find that the Crown Prince has shown an interest in a human. If he thinks that she can be the Luna, then he is wrong,” Radulf asserted.
“You don’t need to worry about it,” Adolphus stated. His tone was harsh and firm. He didn’t hesitate to warn Radulf. “Don’t try to create a mess in my life and, most importantly, don’t involve Iris in this.” His warning was open and straightforward.
“I have no intention of involving a human in our matter,” Radulf said. “I only want the Crown Prince to know that a human will not be accepted as your luna. His Excellency should keep this in mind,” he asserted, and waited for Adolphus’ response.
“Radulf, you know that even if you want to take the throne or lead the pack, you cannot do that. Your wolf isn’t as powerful as it should be to make you the future alpha. Our enmity only lies around this. Correct me if I am wrong,” Adolphus stated.
He was clear and straightforward with him. If they fought this way, then it harmed them only in the future too. Adolphus wanted to make their relationship good.
“How could you even think about this for your cousin? I may sound like an evil man, but I will never let the royal family fall because of our fight. Moreover, I am well aware of the fact that my wolf isn’t as strong as you,” Radulf affirmed. He was no longer using honorifics for Adolphus. He took out a piece of paper from the inner pocket of the waistcoat and unfolded it.
“Here,” he forwarded the paper to Adolphus, who took it from him and started to read it.
“I didn’t show you inside the Castle because everyone would have been anxious. The witch you have sealed in the ring of fire has come out. This note is clearly from her,” Radulf said.
Adolphus frowned and hummed as he read the message. “This is written in blood. Where did you retrieve this?” He asked.
“Graham gave me this last night after the feast ended. You were already retired to your manor, so he came to me. It’s found near the body of a human priest. It seems she’s recuperating her energy with powerful souls. She left this note after killing the priest,” Radulf explained to Adolphus.
“Where and when did it happen?” Adolphus questioned.
“Two days ago in Edinmont town,” Radulf replied.
“We will first head to the forbidden forest, then the next action is taken,” Adolphus announced his decision and put the paper inside his pocket, after folding it.
“Adolphus, you are cursed because of the witch. Do you think you can handle her this time? Shouldn’t we discuss it with the elders first?” Radulf queried.
“We will discuss it with the elders after the confirmation. It is not easy to get out of the ring of fire,” Adolphus stated.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
“You mean someone helped her?” Radulf arched his eyebrows.
“Yes. A werewolf probably,” Adolphus affirmed.
“You look sure about it,” Radulf stated.
Adolphus shook his head. “I am not sure about that. But there is a strong possibility that a werewolf had helped her,” he opined.
Adolphus recalled how, a year ago, he encountered a hybrid werewolf. It was stronger than a beta werewolf. However, the hybrid didn’t fight Adolphus. After that day, he never saw that werewolf.
“A witch can also help,” Radulf stated.
“Don’t you know how the Ring of Fire works?” Adolphus didn’t know Radulf would be this naive.
“If a witch is stuck inside, then either a human or a werewolf can save her and vice-versa,” Adolphus explained to him.
Radulf hummed. “I almost forgot,” Radulf said.
“I wonder where the witch is hiding. If she is recuperating her energy, then it will be dangerous for us. We have to catch her before she completely gets healed,” Adolphus asserted.
“How long do you think she will take to heal her energy?” Radulf asked.
“Probably a month. If the humans she takes in are of stronger energy, then it may take less time for her,” Adolphus said and furrowed his brows together.
This situation had tensed him up. The unknown deaths of humans and some of the werewolves had increased his worries. Until now, no clue had been found.
“Adolphus, don’t fight alone this time,” Radulf worriedly said.
“I won’t this time. I was lucky last time, but in these years, even my powers have grown,” Adolphus stated.
“If you succeed in finding a mate before that, you will become stronger,” Radulf opined.
Adolphus didn’t say anything and remained silent.
