Chapter 147 Stirred Up

"Brendon!" Ranita's head was spinning with anger, and she didn't want to talk to him anymore. "I don't want to talk to you!"

"You need to put me down right now!"

Ranita's chest rose and fell as her curves pressed against him, soft and hot like feathers brushing past, leaving a trail of indescribable ripples.

Brendon felt an itch in his heart, inappropriate thoughts creeping in like cracks trying to break free.

"Don't move around! If I let go now and you get hurt, it won't be my fault!" Brendon paused for a moment before sighing. "You had a conflict with Shannon and Holly yesterday?"

The topic changed abruptly.

Ranita stiffened her body and remained silent for a while before saying coolly, "Not really."

It was Shannon who started the trouble.

"Your car accident has nothing to do with Shannon. Don't blame her."

Blame? That word hit hard.

"Did Shannon come crying to you? What did she say?" Ranita pursed her lips, no longer submissive as before. She raised an eyebrow mockingly.

Acting weak or pitiful was one of the tricks that worked on him.

Brendon looked at her with lowered eyes. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

"I investigated it myself. Your car accident was an accident... It really has nothing to do with Shannon. Don't hold any grudges against her." He continued speaking but his explanation wasn't convincing enough.

Ranita's heart felt heavy as if filled with cotton wool; breathing became difficult for her too.

She kept quiet without saying anything else.

"I'm here now so please put me down," said Ranita from afar when Brendon finally released himself from holding onto Ranita tightly earlier on.

Brendon sneered slightly as he asked sarcastically, "Afraid Dylan will see us?"

"Dylan is my good friend. He is friendly but sometimes impulsive too. If he offended you in any way, please don't take it personally," replied Ranita repeating what Brendon had said earlier verbatim.

Brendon felt both angry and suffocated by this response.

"Fine then! I'm leaving!" With that said, Brendon put Ranita down then turned around, quickly walking away from there without looking back once.

"Ranita! Why are you up so early?" Dylan yawned while coming out looking for her, " Your face looks red? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

Ranita realized what was happening and forced a smile. "Dylan, I'm fine! Maybe I just walked too fast. I'm a little tired and want to go back to rest."

"Then let's go back quickly!" Dylan pulled Ranita back and quickly poured her a glass of warm water. "Drink some water and rest in your room for a while. Breakfast will be delivered soon, I'll call

you."

She was indeed a little tired.

Ranita went back to her room and slumped on the sofa, staring blankly at the white window curtains next to her that were blown by the wind. The mottled sunlight shone on her earlobe, making it red in no time.

But Ranita didn't even notice it.

On the diagonally opposite second-floor balcony, Brendon leaned against the railing while looking down after taking his shower.

Moon Mountain had high terrain so there was plenty of morning light already shining through. Brendon's eyes were slightly squinted due to its brightness but his gaze remained fixed on one spot - that fluttering white curtain which revealed only part of her chin with its skin tone and pink lips.

Brendon couldn't see very clearly, but he had already formed a vivid image of her in his mind - her lips, nose, eyes, and those ears that turned red at the slightest touch. He couldn't be more familiar with her.

Brendon was a businessman.

Ending the marriage, he paid alimony, and everyone went their separate ways. As for the relationship within the marriage, it was consensual, and both enjoyed it.

He thought he had it all figured out, but now, the situation had caught him off guard.

They say time is magic; it can subtly change many things. He had initially believed that Stuart's Corp wouldn't be a big deal without Ranita. In the end, Brendon realized that it wasn't Stuart's Corp that he couldn't be without, but rather, it was her - Ranita.

He had fallen for Ranita.
