Chapter 1177
The guests in the banquet hall seemed to fixate on Mirabella, eager for a bit of drama without caring much for the truth. Unruffled, Mirabella looked at Kitty, clapped her hands, and said with a hint of irony, "Quite the story you've spun from thin air."
With a knowing smile, she turned her attention to Atlas. Catching her signal, Atlas pulled out his phone and stepped aside to make a call. Kitty and Austin watched with furrowed brows, unsure of what game was being played now. Regardless of what was unfolding, they both knew they couldn't let Mirabella dig up the old inheritance issue.
Austin quickly interjected, "Let's just let it go. Mirabella's young, maybe she got the wrong idea from someone. There's no need to blame her."
Kitty nodded in agreement, understanding the delicate balance of the situation. "I'm not blaming her, really. I just don't want her caught up in something that creates tension between us."
Mirabella watched them script and act out their little play with a smirk, deciding to stay silent for the moment.
After finishing his call, Atlas returned and nodded at Mirabella before resuming his place by her side. Just then, two people entered the room. One dressed like Atlas, while the other, in casual attire, was around fifty and walked with a noticeable limp.noveldrama
The moment Kitty and Austin saw the casually dressed man, their expressions shifted dramatically. It was Lawyer Weeks.
As the pair approached, Atlas's associate acknowledged Mirabella and Atlas with a nod, handing over a document folder to Atlas. But Kitty and Austin weren't focused on the folder-they were fixated on Lawyer Weeks.
"What brings you here, Lawyer Weeks?" Kitty asked, her fingers curling slightly with tension.
Lawyer Weeks gave a bittersweet smile to Kitty and Austin, but before he could speak, Atlas had opened the folder, lifted the documents, and approached them, holding the papers up for them to see.
"Maybe you two should check this out before talking about 'fabrications'," Atlas suggested, pointing to the bolded word 'Will' on the document.
Kitty and Austin stared at the will Atlas held, disbelief etched on their faces, unable to bring themselves to read it just yet. The moment Lawyer Weeks stepped in, things started spinning out of their control.
Austin was the first to break the spell, reminding himself that the original will was supposed to have been destroyed long ago. There was no need to panic just because of Lawyer Weeks' presence.
Snatching the will from Atlas, Austin skimmed it before scoffing, "Oh, so now it's a fake will after the fake audio?"
Kitty snapped back to reality too, remembering they had retrieved their grandfather's real will from Lawyer Weeks ages ago there couldn't possibly be another.
"Well, is it fake? Why not ask your Lawyer Weeks here?" Atlas replied, unfazed by Austin's skepticism, glancing at Lawyer Weeks.
Atlas's look sent a shiver down Lawyer Weeks' spine. He quickly responded, "Mr. Atlas, this will is legitimate. It's the one Mr. Atlas's grandfather left."
Austin's eyes darkened as he glared at Lawyer Weeks. "Lawyer Weeks, let's stick to the facts. Don't let your words run wild."
What do you think?
