Chapter 1442
On the weekend, Lisa had no plans to return home, but Gracie called and insisted she come back.
When she arrived, her parents weren't in the living room, and Marian was out, so she went straight upstairs.
Just as she reached the top, she noticed Ben's bedroom door was open, and voices could be heard from inside.
Pausing for a moment, Lisa walked towards the room. Just as she reached the doorway, she saw a man she didn't recognize.
He appeared to be in his fifties at most, dressed in a neatly pressed suit that seemed to hail from the era of the Roaring Twenties. He was conversing with Thomas.
Lisa wondered who the man could be, her gaze then fell on Ben, who was sitting on the bed. Instantly, she froze in place, a reflexive fear climbing.
Gracie, seeing her daughter, came out of the room without noticing her distress, simply saying, "Emmitt has been returned to us, but when your father found him, he was in this state. We have no idea what he's been through."
Lisa looked towards Ben from a distance. Although she couldn't clearly see his expression, there was a noticeable difference in his demeanor.
She suddenly remembered what Mirabella had mentioned a few days ago.
At that moment, the man in the suit, after checking Ben's pulse, took out a long box from the bedside table and began to extract several items from it.
Lisa, curious about the man's actions, quietly asked Gracie, "Mom, who is that?" "That's an alternative medicine practitioner your father's friend recommended. He's said to be very skilled, so we invited him over to see Emmitt," Gracie replied.
Lisa's fingers twitched at her side as she asked another question, "Can... can Emmitt be cured?"noveldrama
Gracie shook her head, sighing softly, "We don't know. We can only try."
Hearing this, Lisa didn't ask anything more, her gaze returning to the alternative medicine practitioner who was now taking out acupuncture needles.
She didn't know how Ben had ended up this way, but she believed that this was the best outcome for everyone.
Twenty minutes later, the
practitioner removed the needles from several points on Ben's head. Thomas, sitting beside him, eagerly asked, "Mr. Santos, how is it?"
Santos didn't respond immediately, observing Ben's still unfocused pupils, his
brow furrowing slightly before he checked his pulse again.
The pulse was as it had been before, unchanged and normal.
A normal pulse in this context was actually the most abnormal sign.
Santos released his hand, feeling a sinking sensation. In theory, his acupuncture skills should have been able to wake Ben, but there was no effect.
If it was simply a physical illness

causing Ben's mental fog, acupuncture might not have immediate results, but his condition was clearly not just physical.
It seemed someone had completely locked his neural system.
Destroying someone without a trace, a skilled method... It appeared this person was not only an expert in acupuncture but also had connections with the Massolio family.
Was it that person who had appeared?
Santos's eyes narrowed slightly. He disinfected and packed away the needles, looked at Ben, and simply told Thomas, "The situation is complicated."
Hearing this, Thomas's eyes suddenly filled with a glimmer of hope, "Does that mean, there is still hope for my son to recover?"
Lisa, standing by, clenched her fingers tighter, involuntarily glancing towards Santos.
What do you think?
