20. A Thief
A THIEF WHO DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO BE A THIEF
The sounds of many voices mingling with each other awakes Bloodstain from the first peaceful sleep she had in her entire life. She rubs her eyes with the back of her hands and takes a few seconds to make her vision focus on the image of two humans in front of you, a male and a female.
“Ah, so finally the liar woke up,” the female says and starts walking toward Bloodstain, but Cynthia stops her.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Stop it, Carla,” Cynthia’s tired voice sounds firmly.
“You must have lost your mind, you old woman!”
“I told you, you should have left her at the old folks’ home,” the male says and rolls his eyes impatiently.
“What’s happening? Who are they? Bloodstain questions herself as she hugs her knees against her chest and closes her eyes tightly. All the screaming hurts her sensitive ears.
“Get out of the way, Mom!” The young woman pushes the oldest out of the way, who falls on the bed.
With firm footsteps the woman approaches Bloodstain and brutally grabs her thin arm, lifting her off the ground, tears already burning in the girl’s eyes.
“How dare you wear something that belonged to my daughter!” she says furiously.
“Carla, I’m the one who gave it to her, stop it already!”
Carla doesn’t listen. She only saw a strange woman wearing her beloved daughter’s clothes.
“Don’t stain it with your filthy skin!” DShe spits, disgusted.
With brutality, Carla pulls the coat from Bloodstain’s body and the scars spread over her shoulders are exposed, which makes Carla’s hate and disgust grow.
“Get her out of here! “Get that thing out of here. Now!”
And so, her husband does it; with brutality and disgust stamped on his face, he holds the young woman by the arms and drags her to the entrance door of the small wooden house.
“Stop it! Who do you think you are? Let go of the girl! She’s with me.” Cynthia tries to stop her son-in-law.
“Shut up, old woman, I’m taking you to the old folks’ house!” Carla determines and turns her back to her mother.
Bloodstain makes no sound. Her heart is sad. Again, she’s being humiliated and for doing nothing.
When will this nightmare end? Even the humans don’t feel compassion for me, she thinks.
She cries silently. Once again. Once again she was treated like she didn’t matter.
“I never want to see you again!” says Carla’s husband as he throws the girl down the street hard, and slams the door.
The fall doesn’t hurt the young woman, the human’s strength is nothing compared to hers, and the ground was covered with a frosty layer of snow. Despite being early, many residents are already awake and stop their chores to observe her. Bloodstain hugs herself, the cold wind blows against her bare skin. She rises from the ground and starts making her way back to the forest.
I will live here, she whispers to herself and sits at the root of a large tree.
During the day, she concluded that she cannot transform, because if the residents saw her in her lupine form, they would call the hunters.
“Where are you?” she asks aloud.
I wonder what it’s like to have a mate by your side protecting you. She wanted to know, she wanted this, to have someone who loved her, regardless of beauty or not.
The day comes to an end and Bloodstain didn’t even notice the time pass immersed in her thoughts and in the longing she feels for Guila. She only noticed that she sat all day in the same position when her belly snored loudly.
Bloodstain finally gets up and walks back towards the village, but the sound of galloping horses catches her attention. She sniffs the air, and the smell of various kinds of fresh meat makes her whole body vibrate and her mouth salivate.
She follows the carriage. About thirty meters away from the village, she sees a huge house. That one was different from the others, it wasn’t made of wood. The carriage stops in front of the iron gate.
“This is my chance,” she whispers, and with quick paces she goes to the back of the carriage.
The gates of the base open, and as usual, the task of receiving the delivery of supplies is for Occisor.
“We have come to bring the meat to Lord Occisor Van Helsing, and the blood to the ladies, Mary and Margaret Van Helsing,” the coachman says and closes his eyes as the dreaded Occisor approaches.
“Apparently this is your first delivery. Very well. Just let me see…”
The sound of the iron bars being bent catches Occisor’s attention and he sniffs the air.
Female wolf and in heat. Is what the smell says. What is she doing here? Although the smell makes him feel a pull, he’s not stupid enough to fall for it. Apparently, she wants to die and is only doing him a favor by coming to him.
With calm steps, he rounds the carriage and sees her. A woman with long black hair, in contrast to her fair skin and her scars don’t go unnoticed by the killer’s sharp eyes.
Sticking her hand through the space between the iron bars, Bloodstain grabs a large piece of meat. Pork, her favorite.
“Who are you?” The thick voice echoes in the air, frightening her. Unconsciously, her whole body starts trembling with fear. It must be him, the murderer of species that Guila talked about.
He came to kill you, says a voice in her head.
She hugs the meat to her chest and starts to run. She looks back and sees that she’s being followed..
I have no other choice, she thinks and transforms.
Occisor immediately stops running and watches the huge wolf in front of him.
She’s not an omega, the scars must be from battles she won, but her fur… I’ve never seen anything like it before. What kind of wolf is she? What do those red spots mean? He’s intrigued, that’s for sure and now was time to hunt.
Even against his will, but guided by the adrenaline, the young man transforms too. The coachman sees the huge red-eyed black wolf, wets his pants in fear and begins to pray.
However, Bloodstain doesn’t see him, she is concentrating only on running away and being able to eat the piece of meat stuck in her fangs. The wind blows through her snout and her paws sink to the fluffy ground. She doesn’t have the strength to run as fast as the betas in her father’s pack, her body doesn’t have enough energy or nutrients. But even that doesn’t stop her from trying. She needs to stay alive. The deaths of those she loved cannot be in vain.
As soon as she enters the forest, her body is pushed and hits a tree. The shock makes the meat fall from her mouth onto the ground. She doesn’t bother looking at her aggressor, she just pics the meat with her canines again and tries to run away once more,
However, this time Occisor jumps on her and bites her neck, piercing her skin. A command.
Occisor’s teeth shouldn’t be able to hurt the daughter of a genuine, perhaps generate discomfort at best, but it shouldn’t hurt so much. Bloodstain’s body is not strong, she’s unprepared and the pain makes her cry in agony.
Occisor releases her and takes a few steps back, analyzing the wolf lying in front of him.
Why isn’t she defending herself? He questions himself in a daze.
Trembling in pain, Bloodstain gives up on running away. It’s better if I surrender, but please, moon goddess, touch his heart and make him let me stay alive, please, she pleads as she closes her eyes, turning on the ground until she’s laying with her belly up, leaving it exposed. She turns her head too, submitting.
What is she trying to do? Occisor feels his eyes burn with rage. How dare she do that? She’s gonna die without even fighting? What a disappointment. I got carried away and turned for nothing!
Occisor knows that when a wolf does that, it’s because it admits defeat and hopes not to be killed. But he doesn’t give a damn about these ridiculous Lycan customs. He wants to kill her even more now.
With steady steps, he approaches her and opens his mouth, sharp teeth prepared to attack.
Bloodstain hears him approach and trembles.
The last thing I’ll see will be my killer, she thinks and opens her eyes,
