Chapter 803
With a thud, the old man dropped to his knees and shouted at Matthew, "I'm stuck. I really don't know how to answer the question. Please help me out."
Matthew started to feel something was off. The old man seemed out of sorts. After recalling what the convenience store owner told him, he quickly realized he had been talking to Tony the entire time.
Thinking of this, he asked, "Are you Tony?"
Tony crawled forward on his knees to grab Matthew's leg and burst into tears. "You've finally recognized me, Dad, Grandpa. I'm your good-for-nothing grandson, Tony."
Matthew was floored. All he did was ask if the old man was Tony, and he suddenly became a senior member of his family.
Tony was no longer thinking straight. Matthew leaned down to pull him up, but he tucked his legs under him and wouldn't move.
Matthew hurriedly raised his volume, "Can you stand up first so that we can talk?"
Tony cried harder. "I'm such a disappointment, Grandpa. I brought shame to the Carling family. Our family has been practicing medicine for generations, but I scored only one point when taking the medical license exam.
"This is so embarrassing. I can't show my face in front of you all anymore. I don't deserve to be a Carling."
Matthew finally understood what had driven Tony to madness.
Tony was the heir to a traditional medicine family and the successor of Restorative Remedies. He inherited the knowledge of numerous historical doctors, but he only managed to score one point on his medical license exam.
It was no surprise that Tony had lost his mind.
Matthew had no idea how to console Tony either. "C-Could you please stand up? We can talk it through while standing."
Tony sobbed and shook his head. "I'm not worthy to stand as I speak. Let me stay on my knees. I've failed you all. I don't deserve to practice medicine..."
Matthew didn't know what to do and looked around, but everyone else wasn't bothered. The old mennoveldrama
continued with their chess gamenet
and the children kept playing with their water guns. Meanwhile the women stopped chatting and just quietly watched the event unfold.
Matthew turned to the woman who warned him earlier and asked, "Is there any way to make him get up?"
Smiling, she responded, "Just leave him be. After you're gone, he'll cry himself to exhaustion and be done with it."
Seriously? Would that solve anything?
Matthew looked worried after taking
in Tony's thin, frail appearance. Some of his hair hung past his ears, already streaked with white. His cheekbones were prominent and his face wrinkled up as he cried.
His clothes looked way too big on him, making him look even smaller.
Matthew felt a pang of sympathy as he watched Tony cry. He reached
he Tony's pulse, clearing
to his mind to focus on it. It was quick and deep with a fluid rhythm.
Matthew's expression turned grim. Besides being frail, Tony was exhausted and
out of it. If this went on, things could get serious.
He knew he had to do something. With that thought, he pulled out silver needles from his wristband and began his acupuncture treatment as Tony wiped away his tears.
Matthew started by inserting needles into GV20 on the head.
Then, he quickly inserted needles into the other acupoints, including GV14 and GV26. With swift movements, he also applied needles to GV17, PC7, LI11, and ST40.
What do you think?
