Chapter 808
With a furious look, Tony shouted in frustration, "Watch your mouth! Get your boss here. Ask him if he hasn't been wanting to treat me to a meal."
Noticing Tony's firm attitude, the woman didn't dare to chase him off anymore and coldly replied, "Okay. Hang tight. I'll get the boss right now. If he doesn't know who you are, don't blame me for what happens next."
Tony snorted and kept quiet.noveldrama
She pointed at Tony. "Wait at the door. Don't even take one step inside."
After saying that, she turned and went inside to look for the restaurant's owner.
Standing at the side, Matthew remarked, "No need to get the owner. I've got money, so I can treat you."
Tony earnestly responded, "That's your money. I'm treating you, so your money stays out of it. I just want to show my appreciation. If you don't want to join me for a meal, should I grovel at your feet?"
With that, Tony started crouching down, ready to drop to his knees.
Matthew hurriedly stopped Tony. "No need to go that far. I don't deserve that. I love fish, so just treat me to some fish."
Smiling, Tony triumphantly nodded. "I'm glad you like fish. Their signature here is fish, and I promise it's amazing. Just sit tight and get ready to eat."
The sound of footsteps came from inside the restaurant.
The woman came over with a man in his 30s. He was mostly bald with just a few strands of hair around the sides.
With a wooden bracelet in his hand, the man strutted over. At first glance, it was clear as the day he was rich.
Upon spotting that man, Tony cheerfully greeted, "Long time no see, Clive."
Clive Clifton frowned at the sight of Tony's worn-out clothes. When he saw his customers avoiding Tony in disgust, he looked even more agitated. "W-Why are you here?"
Tony leaned closer. "You've been inviting me to come for ages, but I just haven't had the time. Since I wanted to treat a friend, I came to your place. Can you get us seated?"
Clive waved his hand in a huff. "Just get going. We don't have any available tables right now. Try another place."
Tony's face fell. With so many empty tables around, how could they be full?
After thinking for a bit, Tony forced a wry smile. "If they're all reserved, I can wait. I'll come in when there's an open table."
Clive scoffed. "Do you really need me to spell it out? I won't hold back, then. I have tables open, but I can't let you in dressed like that. You look like a beggar, and you'll make my restaurant look bad."
Tony's expression darkened. Clive used to invite him over to eat, practically begging to get him to visit the restaurant. He couldn't make time before because he was too busy. But now that he was finally here, Clive told him to leave.
The worst part was that Tony had given his word to treat Matthew to a meal. How was he going to deal with the situation now?
With his wrinkled face twitching and his eyes blazing with anger, Tony angrily demanded an explanation, "Clive Clifton! Weren't you always inviting me to eat here? What's going on right now?"
Clive took Tony by the arm and pulled him outside. "That was in the past. Do you really think you're the same person? Look at yourself. You're so out of it, looking like a person living off the streets. Honestly, I feel embarrassed to have you in a restaurant."
What do you think?
