Chapter 547 His Chilling Methods (Part 1)
Sheldon's voice grew louder and more furious by the second. His grip on Yvette also tightened with every word.
Her head struck the floor repeatedly, each impact sharp and jarring. Her face contorted in agony, blood streaking across her forehead.
"Sheldon."
Marcus spoke at last. He wouldn't let Yvette dir so easily. As soon as he gave the command, Sheldon let out a ragged breath and shoved her aside.
"You vile woman. You venomous hag," he cursed through gritted teeth as he walked back and stood beside the casket.
"Grandma. Are you alright? Say something." Charlene rushed forward and caught the tottering Yvette just in time.
Dizziness washed over Yvette. Stars danced in her vision, her forehead throbbed, and pain shot through her knees.
"Grandma, please. Don't scare me. Say something." Charlene's voice trembled, nearly in tears.
It took a while before Yvette managed to return to herself. She looked at the guests who had come to pay their respects. Many of them had just joined in the beating, but she couldn't tell who exactly had hit her.
Charlene kept calling out to her. Only then did Yvette lift her head and glance at her granddaughter, whose eyes were filled with panic and tears.
Then she looked toward Marcus. His radiated an icy hostility. The moment their eyes met, a bone-deep fear spread uncontrollably through her.
She quickly looked away, heart pounding. But her gaze soon landed on the Walker family. Charlotte and William stared at her like they wanted to tear her apart. Natalie's brothers all looked at her with the same cold, merciless intensity. And as for Natalie, her expression was strange. There was no anger or hatred, only an unreadable calm.
A surge of regret hit Yvette. She never should have let Charlene meet Hector so soon.
"Natalie, Hector, I'm begging you. Please spare my grandma." Charlene suddenly spoke up, pleading with Natalie and Hector.
"She's old. She has cancer. The doctors can't cure her. She doesn't have much time left. I'm begging you. Just let her go. Please, Natalie.
"Hector, you've been so kind to me this whole time. You took great care of me. Can't you let this slide, for my sake?"
"For your sake? Charlene, does shamelessness ruin your family?" Hector responded. "Do you think you matter? Do you really believe your name carries any weight with me? Count yourself lucky if I don't finish you off right here."
His voice was icy, laced with mockery. "Charlene, who gave you the audacity to say something so disgraceful to me?"
She froze. Her mind went blank. This wasn't the same man who had once been gentle and considerate to her. On their journey to Dithoria, he had been the very image of a kind older brother.
Now, his gaze had turned cold, filled with nothing but disgust and cold rejection, as if she were a filthy rag.
"Enough talk. The granddaughter of a venomous hag is just another little hag. They both deserve to die. The Jenkins bloodline ends here. That's their fate," Sheldon growled with clenched teeth.
"You dare! Sheldon, you're nothing but Charles' dog. What gives you the right to judge the Jenkins family?" Yvette suddenly roared, her voice sharp with rage.
"I'll kill you." Sheldon surged forward again and slapped her again and again.
Each strike landed with full force. His hatred ran deep. For Yvette, and even more so for Vivian.
How could Vivian manipulate Charles' feelings like that? How could she trample so cruelly on his deep, unwavering love?
The Jenkins family had known the truth about her, and yet they had hidden it. They had conspired to force the marriage through.
The downfall of the Jenkins family was no tragedy. It was justice. They had brought it on themselves.
"Yvette, those who betray true love should swallow ten thousand needles." Sheldon's voice trembled with fury. Her face was swollen and red from the slaps.
The once elegant and composed Yvette looked nothing like herself. She had become a pitiful punching bag.
"That's enough." Marcus finally spoke.
At his words, Sheldon reined in his emotions and returned to where he had been standing earlier.
"Elijah. Escort Mrs. Jenkins Senior and Ms. Jenkins out." Marcus' voice was calm, but the command was clear. He was letting them go.
Yvette was stunned. At the same time, suspicion crept into her mind. Was Marcus really letting them off so easily?
"Old hag. Nasty little brat. Move it." Elijah stepped forward, cursing as he grabbed both of them. One in each hand, his movements swift and brutal.
"Let go. We can walk on our own." Charlene shouted, struggling. Elijah ignored her completely.
Once the two were dragged out, Marcus turned to the guests and offered a polite nod. "I'll leave the rest to all of you."
Someone in the crowd stood up and bowed respectfully.
"Mr. Holden, you have our word. We respected Mr. Holden Senior deeply. What happened to him was beyond unfair. He should have spent his final years in peace, but instead..."
The man trailed off, but everyone understood what he meant.
"Thank you all for coming to my grandfather's funeral." Marcus closed his eyes. Tears slid down his face silently. When he opened them again, he quickly wiped his face and gave a deep 90-degree bow.
"Mr. Holden, may you find peace."
"Mr. Marcus, our condolences."
"Mr. Holden, stay strong."
One after another, voices rang out. Everyone present mourned Charles with heavy hearts. They despised everything the Jenkins family had done.
had
They understood that Marcus had not just invited them to mourn. There was a deeper purpose. The Holden and Walker families made their stance crystal clear Yvette and Charlene would never have peace in Dithoria again.
The funeral continued in solemn order.
...
Once Yvette and Charlene were removed from the hall, Ethan was already waiting
at the gate.
"Ethan, these two are all yours." Elijah threw them to the ground with a thud.
Ethan adjusted his glasses and nodded. "Understood. Leave it to me."
"Good." Elijah turned and walked away.noveldrama
Ethan clapped his hands, and several bodyguards immediately stepped forward and restrained Yvette and Charlene.
"Now then. Take Mra. Jenkins Senior and Ms. Jenkins to the hospital. They're not
in great health. Have the doctors give them a full checkup. Take several tubes of blood while you're at it.
"Also, I heard there was some
commotion at the Jenkins family cemetery, Apparently, every grave was dug up by the stray dogs overnight. I'm sure Mrs. Jenkins Senfor would be very interested in seeing that." sŵnovel
"What did you say? Say that again. What do you mean the graves were dug up?" Yvette clutched her chest, her heart pounding in panic.
"Exactly what it sounds like. Since you hated Mr. Holden Senior so much, naturally the Jenkins family wouldn't want to rest in a place he arranged." Ethan kept smiling.
"You... you... you..." All the color drained from Yvette's face. Her lips quivered. She clutched her chest, each breath coming in short, desperate gasps.
