Chapter 13 - Rule of the Desired
Chapter 13 - Rule of the Desired
Arthur exited the car store, and Edna's shiny new car was ready to be driven away. Unfortunately,
Arthur's car wouldn't be delivered to his home until later.
"The car you purchased, Mr. Gardner, is an exclusive model - only five were manufactured worldwide.
Additionally, they suggest that only one of these cars is located in this country! You truly have a unique
and luxurious sports car at your disposal." Edna remarked. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Arthur gave a slight smile in response to Edna's words. He had a problem; he had never driven a car
before, and he had to figure out how to solve it quickly, as Marco was challenging him to a car race the
following week.
"And..." Edna continued. "Mr. Gardner, since there is only one car now, and I don't mind driving, but I
would be honored if you would take the wheel. Furthermore, you bought such an extravagant car for
me and I don't have the confidence to drive it the first time." She asked timidly.
[Hi Host, you only need to use the VIP points you have in order to unlock the driving skill. One point is
enough, but it will only give you basic driving knowledge, so I suggest using all ten VIP points you
have.]
"Okay," Arthur said as he mentally calculated the cost of his purchase. "I'll spend all my VIP points on
driving skills." He glanced at the System's display to confirm his choice.
[Driving – 10 (Beginner)]
"Hold on, why did I only get a beginner level with 10 VIP points? Is this level sufficient for me to drive a
sports car? I was thinking I'd need an even higher level - how many VIP points do I need for that?" he
asked.
[Alright, host. There are three levels of skill: Beginner, Advanced, and Expert. Each level costs ten VIP
points. The skills you currently have should be enough for normal street driving. However, if you
upgrade to the Advanced level, it should be sufficient to compete in car races alongside those who just
enjoy racing as a hobby. But If your driving level is Expert, you could be compared to a professional car
racer and even take part in and win international car racing competitions.]
Arthur nodded understanding System's explanation. He quickly realized that thirty VIP points were
necessary to completely unlock a skill. Although Arthur had only amassed twenty VIP points thus far,
he was confident that he could accumulate more and gain access to even more skills, new
experiences, and connections with more people.
Arthur walked up to Edna's white car, hopped in the driver's seat, and Edna quickly followed, settling in
beside him and fastening her seat belt.
Edna turned to Arthur with a gentle, radiant smile. "Are you sure you want to drive this car, Mr.
Gardner?" she queried, slightly apprehensive. "I wouldn't really feel comfortable if you were driving for
me."
Arthur turned to Edna and smiled, "This is actually my first time behind the wheel, but I would never let
a woman drive for me. I believe women should be respected, and this is a small way that I can show
my respect."
"Mr. Gardner," she said, blushing. "You're so kind with your words. But you can't possibly be serious if
this is your first time driving, can you?"
Arthur reached out and touched the steering wheel before him, feeling its majestic quality; the leather
covering the wheel was of the highest grade. He felt as though he were sitting in an exceptionally
comfortable seat. "This is so beautiful," he exclaimed.
Arthur started the car engine, and the muscle memory of how to drive seemed to instantly kick in. He
drove the car with a fluid motion, and the beautiful sound of the engine rumbled around them. The car
began to move, rolling out of the car store.
Edna tilted her head and smiled sweetly as she watched the person she admired driving the car so
skillfully and with such composure. She chuckled lightly, "Mr. Gardner, your words almost tricked me.
You drive like a professional, far better than I could ever manage. I just hope I don't make a mistake
that would cause any damage to the car if I use it."
"Don't be concerned, Edna," he assured her. "You will simply be my assistant, and I'll need your help
with administrative and operational matters, as well as overseeing the business I intend to purchase. I'll
pay you whatever amount you'd like."
"Like I said," Arthur continued, "you don't need to manage the hotel and restaurant yourself. You can
recruit a new manager to do it for you and all you have to do is supervise it and make sure the
business is running smoothly. I don't want this job to be a burden on you; I don't want to be a bully."
"I will do all the things you have asked of me, Mr. Gardner, to the best of my ability; I will not be lazy at
all. Additionally, I am accustomed to working hard. But, are you sure you are giving me this
opportunity? My life has changed so much in such a short amount of time, it's almost like I'm
Cinderella! Will this all disappear in the middle of the night?" Edna asked, stifling a little laugh as she
placed the back of her hand to her lips.
"At the end of the story," Arthur asked, as the sports car he drove zipped through the city streets,
"doesn't Cinderella end up marrying the Prince? You'd have to be kidding me if you didn't want a dream
like that to come true!"
Edna turned to face the road ahead, watching with wonder as the scenery sped by. Despite the speed,
she still felt content and relaxed in the car. "I think Cinderella's story is the epitome of every girl's
dream," she murmured musingly. "And I wouldn't be lying if I said I hoped it would come true for me
too," she added thoughtfully.
At the same time, Edna hoped Arthur wouldn't reply to her with words like "And let me be that prince for
you, Edna," as it may overwhelm her in her current circumstances and cause her to faint, overwhelmed
by happiness.
[Edna's attraction to you is skyrocketing—it's now at an impressive 80%.]
[At this point, she would be willing to do anything to bring you happiness - even potentially die for you.
If this number increases a little more, she may even be comfortable with you having multiple partners.
You're well on your way to becoming the ultimate Harem Lord!]
[System Comment: I wish I could give you a thumbs up, host, but unfortunately, I'm just a system, and I
don't have fingers.]
