The Ruin Wedding

CHAPTER 8

IRIS LOU POV

I came back to the present when my cellphone rang in my sling bag that was just next to me. So I looked at it before opening it and took the cellphone and I saw that it was just dad who was calling. So I sniffed it.

“Dad” I said while looking at the sea, it looks like I won’t be back there until nightfall. just want to the see the sunset.

“Me and my grandson will go home first, take your time. I’ll take care of your son” He said on the other line.

” Okay dad” I said and hung up the call and looked at the sea near the night for a long time I was sitting here So I didn’t realize the time.

During the time I was looking at the sea, little by little when the sunset started, it was very nice to see it. Eliot and I always used to watch the sunset. I was so used to being by his side and now I don’t know why he is still here in my mind.

FLASHBACK

“Honey do you think when I’m gone you’ll find me?” I said this with my head resting on his shoulder and we were sitting Today on the Centennial Sea Bridge. There are also a lot of people here because it’s really nice to hang out when the sun goes down.

“No” He said So I looked at him.

“What!” I shockly said. That made him laugh.

“I won’t look for you because I know you won’t be lost” He said So I just pout.

“What if I disappeared like a bubble, what do you think you would do?” I said it and looked it straight in his eye. He touched my head before speaking.

“Hon, even if that happens, I know you will c you will still come back to me but If I’m wrong in my suspicion. It is not my destiny to decide how we will meet again.” he smiled at me before giving me a kiss in my forehead. I just smiled because of what he said.

“I promise I won’t hurt you therefore you have no reason to leave me and just disappear suddenly my dear Iris” He said to me So I turned my head to lean on his shoulder to look at the sea again.

“Promise me Honey, you won’t gonna cheat on me” I told him while still looking at the beautiful sea view. He did not answer immediately but he also spoke.

“I promise I’m only yours and I will never cheat on you ever and only with you, I will build a family Hon” He said. So I just smiled.

“I’ll pray to god that you are the only one I can be with, when I grow old and you are the only one I will marry.” I told him.

I want him to be with me Until I grow old, he is the only man who first captivated my heart because with him I learned to love and how to appreciate the people around me.

We watched the sunset at the same time, witnessing the sunset of the promises he made to me.

END OF FLASHBACK

I didn’t realize that I was crying because of those things, even for a few years passed he still the only man in my heart, I can’t accept if I see him happy with Others while I’m crushed.

I wiped away my tears and stood up before going down to the Rock and put on my heels before walking. It looks like I won’t call the driver first. I have to think while walking.

As I walk on the side of the road I will pass The street lights as well as The food streets on the side, there’s also people like this time. I took my time to look around me Now I just felt like I was alone without the person I thought would stay by my side eventually but will also leave me.

I passed the vendors on the side and went straight to the boat to deliver to Olympus Park where it’s also good to go. I will spend the rest of my day here in Greece because I know it will take me a long time to get back here. When I saw a taxi, I immediately stop it.

“(páre me sto párko tou Olýmpou) Take me to Olympus park.” I said to him and looked out the window to see the building we were going through and full of street lines to relax this night I put my head on the side of the window and looked at the tall trees with different lights while the vehicle is running.

“(Giatí eíste lypiméni kai móni, kyría? Boró na diaváso ta mátia sou, pou eínai gemáta thlípsi kai lachtára gia kápoion.) Why are you sad and alone, Ma’am? I can read your eyes, which are filled with sadness and longing for someone.”the diver asked as he turned to look at the road.

But I just went back to looking out the window even though the driver read my sadness and longing in my eyes for the person I left in the Philippines where I met him.

“(Ti tha ékanes an se apatoúse o ántras pou agapás edó kai kairó kai théleis na peráseis to ypóloipo tis zoís sou?) What would you do if the man you’ve loved for a long time and want to spend the rest of your life, cheated on you?”I suddenly asked the driver while I was still looking out the window.

“(óntos se apátise? Échete akoúsei kan tin exígisí tou?) did he really cheated on you? Have you even listened to his explanation?” I was stunned by his question. Why didn’t I listen to his explanation? Why did I leave Unaware The Truth? I was confused by the incident.

“(Pós boró na akoúso tin exígisí tou an me enkatéleipse tin iméra tou gámou mas gia chári mias állis gynaíkas? Kai orkízomai ekeíni tin iméra, den tha échei típota na epistrépsei an fýgei apó tin ekklisía.) How can I listen to his explanation if he abandoned me on our wedding day in favor of another woman? And I swear that day, he’ll have nothing to return to if he walks out of that church.” I told and heard him sigh in front of me.

“(Tha prépei touláchiston na akoúsete tin exígisí tou kai na échete katá nou óti échoume aftó pou eínai gnostó os psevdeís ypopsíes.) You should at least listen to his explanation, and keep in mind that we have what is known as false suspicion.”he replied.

He is right in what we call false suspicion. but I know that’s why I just can’t understand why he has to choose that woman at our wedding.

I didn’t respond to what he said and just kept quiet and secretly wiped the tears from my eyes that were dripping because of the painful worries that were coming back to me.

“(éfyges ekeíni ti méra chorís kan na akoúseis tin exígisí tou kai chorís kan na ton enimeróseis óti févgeis?) did you leave that day without even hearing his explanation and without even letting him know you were leaving?” he suddenly ask.

“(Nai, exafanístika san foúska ekeíni ti méra giatí den boroúsa na dechtó to gegonós óti eíche kápoion állo.) Yes, I vanished like a bubble that day because I couldn’t accept the fact that he had someone else.” I replied to him as I speak Greek language because I know he can’t understand me If i will speak Filipino language and not everyone here in Greece knows how to speak English So it is better to speak their language, easily they could understand.

“(Ton áfisa prin apó téssera chrónia kai den écho akoúsei típota gia aftón méchri tóra) I left him four years ago and haven’t heard anything about him up until now.” isaid next.

“(Pistéveis óti févgontas chorís na xéreis tin alítheia iremeí ton afró tou myaloú sou? Den échei dikaíoma? Elpízo na akoúsate próta prin exafanisteíte chorís íchnos.) Do you believe that leaving without knowing the truth calms your mind’s foam? No right? I hope you listened first before disappearing without a trace.”he replied. I just gasped because of what was the driver saying.

“(Se échei apatísei kaneís?) Has anyone cheated on you?” I jokingly told him to stray The talk about me. I was just looking outside I got no answer from him So I looked at him. But his Just driving quietly and looking seriously at the road, I just shook my head and looked at the window again.

“(Nai, allá i diaforá metaxý mas eínai óti den éfyga í aplós exafanístika. Ákousa tin exígisí tis prin tin antéxo kai éfyga oikeiothelós) Yes, but the difference between us is that I didn’t flee or simply vanish; I listened to her explanation before putting up with it, and I left voluntarily.”He said but I didn’t say a word and just kept quiet to hear his own story. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“(Chárika polý ótan mou eípe óti ítan énkyos, allá ótan mou eípe óti den ímoun o patéras, o kósmos mou dialýthike) I was overjoyed when she told me she was pregnant, but when she told me I wasn’t the father, my world fell apart” he said

When he said that, I became even more intrigued by his story. Because our path is really different when it comes to love. If he was betrayed and others got the person he loved pregnant, Then the man I loved pregnant another woman without me knowing.

“We had been together for eight years, but that year was ruined when I discovered she was pregnant with my friend.”

“I blamed fate for interfering with the course of my life.”

“but do you know what I’m thankful for?”

“I thanked her that she found the person to love and take care of her even if it wasn’t me”

“I listened to her and accepted it on the day she confessed and explained because I loved her so much that I could tolerate just for what she could do.”

“years passed when we separated, I found the one for me and the woman I no longer thought that she would be with me as I grow older and build a family”

In that story, I smiled because he was able to tolerate, forgive and accept what was reserved for him. As I continue to be trapped in the past without knowing The truth behind that scenario that time.
