The True Heiress's Return

Heiress’s Return 304

Walter timed his retreat perfectly, just within the limits Shakira could accept. Her cheeks were flushed red, tinged with a beautiful Inue.

The previous coldness and ruthlessness she showed while punishing Ted had now completely turned into gentle affection.

He held her shoulders, allowing her to rest against his chest and breathe steadily. Shakira played with the special gold button on his shirt. "What made you think to come over?* Walter answered honestly. "I was worried you might drink tonight; I couldn't stop worrying."

"Well, alright. I only had a little bit," she insisted, defending her innocence.

Walter raised his eyebrows. "Are you sure it's not because you knew I was here, so you didn't dare to drink more?"

Shakira thought, 'Does he really need to be so blunt? That's kind of harsh! All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

Shakira paused for a moment, remembering Benji had pleaded with her for help. "Benji just messaged me an apology. I've decided to forgive him."

Walter smirked. "He knows how to get away with things."

Shakira found his remark amusing. "Is it possible that you're just being strict as a big brother? It's not really a big issue, so you don't have to be so critical."

"If I hadn't handled it in time, who can assure this wouldn't have caused a rift between us?" Walter said coldly.

If Shakira had been more spoiled or unreasonable, and if they hadn't always opted to talk things out, Fiona's presence would have been an unpredictable ticking time bomb between them.

Shakira reflected and said, "Even if something happens, Benji isn't really at fault. The real culprit is Fiona."

"Fiona is evil, while Benji is just stupid," Walter said, not hiding his disdain.

From his tone, Shakira could tell he was genuinely angry. No wonder Benji came to her for help; he must have realized he messed up this time.

Shakira blinked playfully and asked, "So, are you not planning to forgive Benji?"

Before Walter could answer, she sighed dramatically, as if she had no other choice, "Looks like I'll have to apologize to him after all. He begged me for so long, saying you'd listen to me. But it turns out he overestimated me." Walter gave her nose a playful poke, seeing through her instantly. "You little fox, trying to set a trap for me?"

Shakira stuck out her tongue, her bright eyes sparkling mischievously. "This trap is designed just for you, sir. Are you going to fall for it or not?"

Walter tenderly held her captivating face and leaned down to kiss her again. "How could I possibly turn down your request?" After Walter left with Shakira, the others, including Benji all departed about half an hour later. As the key figures left the scene and they had worked the next day, everyone decided to wrap it up for the night.

Larry didn't drink any alcohol, and Rachel obediently sipped on juice. Only Xanthe enjoyed a few cocktails, getting slightly tipsy. The two of them decided to hail a cab to take Xanthe home.

Once they got there, Rachel had already fallen asleep. Larry took off his jacket to cover her and asked the driver to wait. He helped Xanthe out of the car.

17:01 Thu, Nov 28 D.

It was late at night, and since it was Larry's first time in this neighborhood, he was unsure of the building numbers. He steadied Xanthe against a wall and gently tapped her cheek. "Which building is yours?" 70%

Xanthe squinted her eyes and mumbled something. He couldn't quite catch what she said, so when he leaned closer to hear her better.

Just then, he heard hurried footsteps coming from behind. Reading quickly, he spun around while holding Xanthe halfway.

At that moment, he finally saw who was the person. Larry was slightly taken aback as the man had appeared on the covers of financial magazines multiple times-the entrepreneur of the year.

It was Sean, the leader of Yonder Digital. Frowning, Larry looked at him warily, "Mr. Reynolds, what are you trying to do?"

Sean noticed Xanthe, who was nearly collapsing into Larry's arms and stumbling unsteadily. His usually composed face turned serious immediately. He asked Larry, "Hand her over."

With a tense expression, Larry was about to confront Sean when Xanthe suddenly opened her eyes.

She looked at Larry, then at Sean, and quickly regained her balance. In a few steps, she walked up to Sean and slapped the back of his head. The slap echoed loudly. Larry and Sean were both surprised.

Sean grabbed Xanthe's hand and pulled her into his arms, gritting his teeth. "You crazy woman, I'm helping you and you hit

me?"

"Of course I hit you!" Xanthe retorted confidently, "Not only did you bully me, but you also picked on my coworker. I'm not a pushover."

"Even if you're a pushover, you're a dangerous one," Sean retorted, holding his head in frustration.

Xanthe ignored him, her face puffed up with anger. When she looked at Larry, she was all smiles, "Larry, I'm home now. You guys should go back and drive safely." After saying this, she let out a loud belch that nearly knocked Sean out.

Larry gave her a serious look for a few moments before nodding. "Alright, get some rest. See you tomorrow."

"Bye," Xanthe continued waving with a smile, even after Larry got into the car.

Sean put down her arm, quite annoyed. "That skinny twig can run with the wind. Do you really think you can lean on him without squashing him flat?"

Xanthe instantly wore a fierce face, her big, bright eyes staring at him without blinking. Sean was startled. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Why are you here?" she asked. "You have the nerve to ask. I've been calling and messaging you with no reply. Do you know how hard it was to find you?" Sean said.

"Why should I respond to you? We're over!" Xanthe said. "You think it's over just because you say so? No way," Sean said.

Sean glanced at her, noticing her glaring at him fiercely. It felt kind of funny. He thought he'd be angry seeing her when he was on his way here.

But when he actually saw Xanthe, he found it pretty amusing. Sean thought, 'She looks like a drunken fool. It is quite entertaining.

Sean smiled, and just as he was about to speak, a sharp pain shot up from his left foot. His face twisted because of the pain. 17:01 Thu, Nov 28BB.

Xanthe stomped on Sears fancy handmade leather shoe twice. The pain sent Sean sprawling to the ground.

"Xanthe! You crazy woman!" Sean said. "Wrong. I'm your master

Xanthe looked up, ignoring his cries, and strutted back to her huge. She thought, I didn't teach him a lesson last time, but this time is satisfying.

Sean stayed put, clutching his foot. He bit his lip hard to avoid crying out loud. If someone recognized him, it would be too embarrassing.

Enrique, who heard a gut-wrenching cry, came to the foyer in time to see his daughter returning. Confused, he peeked outside. "Sweetheart, did someone scream outside? The voice sounded oddly familiar..." Xanthe nudged Enrique back in. "Probably some unlucky guy fell flat on his face. Ignore it." "Alright, alright, Enrique said.

The next day, as soon as Shakira arrived at the office, she overheard some gossip. "Did you hear? Ted from the project department got fired," someone said.
