Liam looked at Amber, and sighed helplessly. He found himself owing her a lot, and thus deliberately avoided having much to do with her. He hoped she could see how bad he was, and willingly cancel their marriage.

Yet, she foolishly and stubbornly desired him. She would rather turn hostile toward her father just to marry and protect him.

"You don't have to treat me this way. I'm a bastard." Liam said seriously, gripping her hand as she applied ointment to his neck. He was starting to feel bad.

"What's...what's wrong?" Amber was stunned, blushing. Although she was about to marry Liam, they weren't very close to each other. They rarely spent time alone with each other, let alone had any physical contact.

Liam suddenly held her hand, throwing her into anxiety. She had no idea how to react.

"What do you think?" Liam looked at the gentle and delicate woman. He tensed up and wanted to act fierce at first, but failed. Helpless, he sighed again. "Can't you see? I'm a disloyal and selfish scumbag!"

Amber's eyes were teary, and she looked at him in confusion. "I don't think so. You love Ms. Everheart deeply and sincerely. You never get into amorous relationships with others. You're the most loyal man I've ever met. You're not a scumbag at all."

Flabbergasted, Liam was at a loss for words. "I'm going to marry you, but I'm still in love with another woman. Don't you think I'm a scumbag?"

"No. I knew right from the start that you're in love with Ms. Everheart. You never change your mind until now. I was the one who threw myself at you. Well... In this case, I'm the bitch."

Amber seriously reflected on herself and apologized to Liam, filled with guilt.

'I'm sorry. If it weren't for me, you might have a chance to be with Ms. Everheart. But I put myself between you two and stopped you from turning back. I'm the bitch that ruined your relationship with her.

"But you can't blame me. The current situation is very complicated. If we don't get married, my dad won't let you or Ms. Everheart off the hook. You can only ensure your safety by marrying me... Don't worry. When you can fight against my dad, I'll divorce you. Then, you can try and win Ms. Everheart back!"

Amber clenched her fists as if she were about to let Liam go to war. She acted like she was cheering him on.

"How could you..." Liam was stunned. He didn't expect her to be this simple and kind.

"All you ever care about is me and others. Don't you ever think about yourself?" he asked.

For an unknown reason, he felt quite worried to see such a silly side of her.

"Have you ever thought of your position in this relationship? You're still young, but you want to marry me to help me escape. You'll become a divorcee for nothing. You're even hoping that I can win another woman's heart. Don't you feel sad at all?"

"Sad?" Amber asked back.
