Chapter 30 The eerie landlord
She told me that she was about a then-minute walk away from the property. I was also pretty close, so we agreed we would see each other soon. I didn't hesitate, not for a moment. I left my unfinished hot dog on the paper plate, and I held my bag.
There was heavy rain outside. When I got to the door of the convenience store, I stopped for a second. I quickly unzipped my bag to find a small umbrella in there.
As I left hastily from the manor, I forgot to check the forecast for the day, so I chose a blue floral dress to wear. Never mind. I thought.
I opened the umbrella, then I rushed to the address given. The rain poured down from the sky, hitting the ground and splashing, dampening my skirt. The wetness added weight to my clothes that hung obediently at my feet. When I reached the place, I found a shopfront, giving me shelter from the rain. I was just searching for my phone when it was ringing.
"Madam, have you arrived?" She asked.
"I am here, at the entrance. Where are you?" I answered her without hesitation.
"Oh, I see you," she said, and I looked around. I instantly noticed a thin woman standing near in a bright yellow raincoat, waving at me. She didn't come closer, so I was the one who stepped out after opening my umbrella again. She signalled for me to come over, and I walked towards her in the rain.
The woman remained silent, leading the way ahead. The wind started to blow, and somewhat I found myself uneasy. I wanted to call out to her, but I only kept walking forward.
The house, as we approached, looked quite old. Some of the floor tiles were damaged. I had to watch my steps as stepping on a pit could splash dirty mud on me. Eventually, we arrived at a small building. The woman walked inside, and I followed her. When I closed my umbrella, I saw the woman taking her raincoat off. She looked at me and smiled, revealing sharp pointed teeth, which I found quite cute.
"I am sorry for having you come to see the house at this time."
I smiled at her, hearing her apology, but actually she helped me out.
"It is okay." I said, trying to hide that I couldn't wait to see the flat.
The woman walked towards the stairs, and I followed her. We were climbing several floors, but we still haven't reached the destination yet.
I felt puzzled and somewhat weird. We climbed for so long, even though the building looked to have about six levels when we entered.
I couldn't resist looking back down, but the stairs ended in darkness. Could it be that the staircase was just too dark there? Or was it something else?
"What are you looking at?" The woman, who had been several steps ahead, suddenly appeared in front of me as lightning flashed and thunder roared. I didn't know it was only the flashing light, but for a moment it was like the woman's eyes turned red, but in the next blink, it went back to normal.
I quickly pushed these thoughts away. That couldn't be, right?
"Which floor is your home on?" There seemed to be many floors left to climb, which I found unsettling.
She smiled at me and pointed to the stairs.
"It is just upstairs. We will be there soon." With that, she turned and continued to climb, leaving me to follow her alone.
There wasn't a lamp on the wall, nothing that would light up the way, so I tried to see through the dark and quickened my steps to get there as soon as possible.
Finally, we arrived. The woman opened the door. "Come in." She said,
It was an entrance hall, and all I could see was a partition. I couldn't see inside.
The room looked dark, and at that moment, my heart started racing. I turned back to look at the woman, and I found her increasingly eerie. My legs started to tremble, and I was hesitating to go in.

"Maybe, you should go in." The woman smiled at me, and she took her rain shoes before she walked in.
I mocked myself for overthinking. I told myself again that I was probably watching too many stupid TV shows recently. I followed the woman inside.
As soon as I entered, a cold wind started to blow, and it slammed the door shut. I found myself standing in an empty room with blue patterns on the glass, making it impossible to see inside.
The woman stood in the living room, surrounded by eerie plastic sheets covering the walls.
I instinctively took a step back, wanting to open the door and leave, but even if I struggled a lot, the door wouldn't budge.
The woman, displeased by my actions, walked to me and kicked me in my abdomen.
I clutched my stomach in pain, and I could taste the metallic taste of blood inside my mouth, and in a second I could feel it trickling out from between my lips.
I looked at the woman, increasingly feeling her presence was monstrous. My legs started to shake, like they weren't able to keep me standing any longer.
I couldn't help but retreat. "Please, stay away."
But the woman only laughed, advancing towards me, and with her sharp nails she snapped my umbrella in two effortlessly.
I started to panic, and I threw my bag at the woman, like it could save me, which made her dodge as the metal chain on my bag scratched her cheek. Blood oozed from the wound, and the woman observed her face in surprise before she looked back at me.
"Hmm. Very well. Let's see if Cake's blood is really that miraculous, able to change my appearance."Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Cake? This was the second time I heard that name. What was it? Then I remembered my dream. I felt terrified to realise that it probably wasn't a dream.
"Stay away, monster!" I struggled frantically, but the woman easily restrained me, dragging me into the room and throwing me to the ground.
I didn't want to give up. I didn't want to die. As I hit the floor, I looked around, and I found a piece of glass near me. I reached for it, and I tried to stab her with that, but the woman effortlessly grabbed my hand, then snapped my arm. I screamed in intense pain, and I was calling for help, only hoping someone would hear me.
The woman, annoyed, moved towards me, and kicked me in my stomach again.
I spat out blood, then I watched her in horror as her face turned into a grotesque and eerie expression. She seemed unable to breathe, clutching her neck tightly. It was like something strangled her neck, and in a blink of an eye, a blood mark appeared on it, then blood gushed out, covering the floor.
I watched in fear as the woman who had just been smiling eerily, suddenly lost her head.
I started to cry when the head rolled to my feet. Its red eyes, filled with fear and uncertainty, stared at me.
My body felt numb, and I could not move while staring back at those eyes. But that wasn't all. When the head transformed into a rabbit's head, and the woman's body turned into a blood stained rabbit, I couldn't help but shout hysterically. The white fur, the bright red blood, all stood out vividly.
Before I could react, a bat flew in from somewhere and grabbed the rabbit's head, then flew out with it.
I didn't remember when the window opened up and how, but it let in the cold rain which slapped my face. It felt like I was slapped with sharp ice. I tried to focus, as my vision went blurry, but soon probably my brain wasn't able to process the happenings and I fell into darkness.
